Lots to do from taking salvia cuttings to pricking out and potting on seedlings to giving the dahlias support with string. The bees are buzzing, the butterflies buzzing, sun shining, rain falling, new crops growing, roses holding on, some perennials ready for a mow, some just popping up - it’s all happening here on the flower farm x

What a poignant and thoughtful ending. I hope you are here for many decades to come. That was the quickest 34 minutes full of knowledge, humour, and beauty. Your garden/farm is glorious is all its imperfect natural state. Thank you for sharing with us all tonight x

Especially useful to me was the bit about the placement of the stem cuttings against the pot's side. These bits and bobs of practical wisdom are immensely helpful. Thank you!

Fab tour Georgie, I am always very interested what is growing in other people's gardens. Very poignant ending to the video, we are trying to become water self sufficient, with two greenhouses and two acres of garden it is a challenging ongoing project, but i agree we need more water in the ground

Good to see you Georgie. Like your blouse.
I only staked my Dahlia's 2 days ago, in the rain I might add, so I dont feel so bad about being late doing it, as you're also just managing to do yours.
I also use the piggy tail stakes but the 1 tip I wished I'd done was to tie the string at each point in case of accidents when cutting the flowers.

I could kick myself . After last weekend’s high winds my salvia Amistad had a similar shearing off ( a piece very much like yours in the video). I stupidly just put it into the brown bin and did not even think of using it for cuttings.

Hi there, I am a New Zealander and hear you refer to N Z Dock. I am 72years old and having gardened for some 50 years, and travelled widely In NZ, and although we commonly see the green dock with its almost impossible to dig out, root system , I don't recall having ever seen the 'Rubra' variety you have growing. Interesting. We had an extremely wet summer, autumn and so far winter, but I picked up extra compost, potting mix and packets of seeds this week in anticipation of a better growing season coming up. Here's hoping. Love the programme 😊.

Georgie - font of all knowledge and keeper of invertebrates- lush green sedum question. I have a gorgeous patch of it that I stole from my parents somewhat overgrown plants, currently thriving and very green and gorgeous almost identical to yours. I’d love to use it for a green and white wedding on 12th august - how long do you think it will hold on to green before turning vivid pink?!

Lovely things in the garden. Here in California we thankfully got a lot of rain in the late winter/spring that did a lot towards our drought. Not enough for the aquifers but it helped.

Loved it Georgie-fabulous walk round. You may have resolved my mystery plant conundrum. I now believe my purple mottled green leaves may be sweet rocket 🤞🏻
First time I’ve spotted just how long your polytunnels are - wow!!
I won’t buy you a coffee - not that you don’t deserve one after that trek - but I’m very much looking forward to reading my copy of Grow Your Own Wedding Flowers this weekend. I’m sure it will become as well thumbed as The Flower Farmer’s Year Book. Highly recommended!

I was really surprised when you said that was a Salvia!
A few weeks ago two small pieces snapped of one of our hydrangea, and dad absent mindedly just stick it in my long veg/flower bed. To our absolute astonishment, both took root and now have been potted up. They've even got little sepals on them!

Lovely video Georgie! I love your back porch even with the scary head. :) It was a welcomed rainy day here in Maryland USA. We have also been in a drought. Question - The white spike flower that you said you liked so much. Would that be Veronicastrum Virginicum - Culver's Root?

    • @theflowerfarmer

yes sometimes - they're good in wedding flowers because they don't last long but have an ephemeral beauty which people love in flowers for weddings. I cut them still in bud and they pop into flower once even in the bride's bouquet on the way to the church which she loved x
