  • Here I'm making eight #30stemchallenge posies for a lovely commission.
    In this clip I give you lots of tips and tricks to inspire you to cut and create your own. Go on, take a bucket of water and a pair of scissors out into the garden with you and see if you can cut thirty stems - maybe all of the same variety, maybe lots of different kinds of flowers and foliage - have a go and see how much you enjoy it. I bet you do!

    I love you, Georgie! In the midst of the craziness going on in our respective countries with Donald and Boris, you help me hold onto my sanity... and I thank you sincerely! 30 stems, coming up! ❤

    Wait, this is the second or third time, and each time my brain goes, wait, Arlo Gurthrie? The Arlo Guthrie? I still haven't finished viewing all of your clips, but I will often revisit one when I need a mental health boost.

      lol - my friend was christened Alexander Guthrie but has been Arlo, without being a famous musician, all his life. He has a clip I think on his RUclips @arloguthriegadgetman where he talks to the musical legend himself - so cool! x I'm glad you're enjoying the clips so much xxx

    Jeepers .... I'm new to your channel, but I feel like I've found my people! I love using foliage and adore chartreuse as it seems you do too (it's my favorite neutral! 😉). I use Acers dissectums, hostas, grasses (stalks and seedheads), clematis seed heads, Asarum european, rhubarb, Berberis, ferns, catalpa (stems and catkins), Epimedium, holly, etc. I also swoon for the fragrance of Hesperis matronalis, Philadelphus and Catalpa blooms. I want to bottle them. This has been a most delightful way to spend 34 minutes; thanks so much!

    Thank you for that video, cutting 30 stems x 8 posies because on Wednesday, I'm doing ''fun with flowers', at church for eight people and was stressing about not having enough flowers of each type to make a balanced bouquet, with flowers I grow at my allotment. Now I'm more relaxed because I realise I'm not competing with a florist shop look alike, but providing a pretty, garden gathered bouquet. It's been so cold and we've been under a blanket of heavy cloud all week, here on the North East coast, so that even the alchemilla mollis isn't quite there yet. Fingers crossed for me! I love all your videos. Thank you

    Love your channel, love your videos and most of all, love your grounded common sense and delightful accent. Greetings from Sk. Canada 💐

    Coincidentally this evening I pottered round the garden to pick a few flowers for a vase. Not sure I quite had 30 but probably not far off, and could easily have picked double the amount, without the garden even noticing. I'm loving your clips, thank you!

    Please could you explain how you cut your roses? I also have Gentle Hermione and Buscobel, they are looking better this year than ever, even though I’m in the south east and been battered by north Easter’s for the last month. As a novice gardener I’ve always dead headed to where I think the next bud will grow, but as a new cut flower enthusiast, inspired by you, it scares the hell out of me to cut lovely long stems including little buds and not know where the next flower will be coming from 😬

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  Год назад

      I ruthlessly cut wherever the mood takes me - but keep roses well fed, and mulched so they don't dry out, and they generally keep growing well. We are on thick clay so there's usually enough water in the ground a foot or so down for them even when it's been as dry as it has this spring x

    Thank you for all you do to help us stay sane you are amazing!I have a picture of an arrangement for the 30 stem challenge but not sure how i get it to you ,would love some constructive criticism while I gain confidence!I have been asked to make a cascade bouquet for the 3rd wedding I have ever done so am very much a nervous novice.I was thinking of combining a hand tied posie type with a trailing one ...what would you do ?I am reluctant to use any foam and and concerned how to keep the trailing one alive if its wired ,was hoping to make them the night before and combine on the day..happy to buy you some coffees for some professional advice!1

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  Год назад +1

      I would make a hand tie and add longer stems to create the shower feel - two posies tied together would be too heavy - have a practice and you'll feel more confident x
