This is a yarn that you either love or hate. I found that changing my hook size was a lot easier than worrying about my tension. For my first two squares, I found I had to use a susan bates size I 5.5mm for the first two rounds then switch to a size H 5.0mm for the last 3 rounds. For my third and remaining squares I used my Boye hook size I which happens to be 5.25mm. This worked perfectly for every round.
You made it look way too easy but I commend you for not having all the issues that a lot of others seem to! I do appreciate the tip of doing a couple of extra slip stitches if your colour change is close, I haven't heard that suggestion before but appreciate that one, always good to know some more tips when it comes to this yarn! Thanks :) I really love the warm wheat colourway, one of my favourites!
I bought a skein to see how it goes. Since I crochet a little on the looser side I decided to skip the ch 1 inbetween clusters. It worked for me. I used a 5.5mm hook and I had to do very little frogging. I am on my 10th square so I am getting a real hang of it now. I just ordered 6 more skeins to make a throw.
So far I have found that sacrificing some of the extra stitches (the chain ones along the sides, making the starting chain for each new row 4 vs 6, etc) has helped make up for tension issues without sacrificing size. A fun zen project you can tune out to a show with!
Thanks for this video demo. It was very helpful and your creative suggestions to make the rounds end right are great. I’m getting the hang of it after 3 squares. 😊
Red Heart is going to have to come up with some nicer color combinations for me to buy it. Also some lighter weight yarn for garments. This is the only color combination I would want to buy.
I love the yarn gave to get some! I saw 2 other ppl show this yarn! So pretty the colors!! Love to make granny squares! Thanks! The price is high though unfortunately!! 💕💕
It’s a good idea that you don’t have to weave in the yarn at the end of each round but I rather do that then keep track of my tension or worry about having extra or less yarn to finish each round 😊
I wonder how long this product line will last. Having to monitor tension to align the colors and then frogging to go back with different tension seems frustrating. I crochet to relax. This isn’t going to do it for me.
Same problem with planned pooling, but for granny squares is even worse, granny square means total relaxation and choosing colours, for planned pooling I'm already in a "pay attention" mood because I know I have to 😁
I saw this the other day and I cannot wait to try it. I do make my granny's a bit differently tho. I chain 3 rather than 6 and only chain 2 for the corners (and ch. one in between the clusters). I'll see what happens. I am a big fan of infinity granny squares, so, this might be good for that. :)
I'm looking forward to playing with different granny square patterns to see if I can get them to work with the auto changing colors. I love not having to cut each round! I bet so many others will get creative and more ideas will be coming. xoxo
Thank you for your video on how to crochet the granny square. You made it much easier to navigate, however I was wondering if anyone had an extra granny square in their skein? I ended up with 15 granny squares. Not sure if that is normal or did I get lucky. I hope everyone is well!! Looking forward to seeing more videos. ❤❤
I don’t care how finicky this is. I think I’ve almost bought out my local JoAnn Fabrics. I have like 7 colors and I want more. I also didn’t even look at their pattern, so you can play around with it. I do a ch4 and slip stitch the round. Ch5 instead of 6, 2 ch in the corners not 3, and no ch in the spaces instead of 1. I also use a 6mm hook. If I had extra left, I slip stitched until I used it and tightened tension if I needed more. I love this and need more lol. I paid $7.12 my first trip and $5.70 my second trip per ball. They had 25% off yarn and I had a 20% pick up that stacked the second time.
Not sold on this. Looks waaaay too complicated to constantly be watching your tension. Too gimmicky just like the o’go yarn. But thank you for taking the time to show us Tiffany! ❤
There are so many things that can be made from Granny squares. If you don't like them, that's a different story. But your choices aren't really limited.
Where can I get the covers you have on those hooks? Or are they a certain brand and set? I would love to use the original metal hooks but its so small they hurt my hands. If I had something to make the handles bigger like yours I could use them! Thanks Tiffany for all your videos.❤😊
Lol I think for the sake of my OCD I best stay far away from this yarn. I'm a relaxed tensioner and do my squares differently. I'd have anxiety every round, like playing yarn chicken on repeat. 😂
As always, your videos are impeccable 😊 BUT this yarn does not convince me. At all. The colors I have seen so far do not impress me. The fact that you have to mess with the stitches in order to get your colors to match each round, is a turn down. I think that would stress me out and/or frustrate me more if I have to frog and redo. So…although I very much appreciate the time you took to do this video, I’ll pass on the yarn 😅 Thank you Tiffany.
Tighter and a shorter tail....I don't see this yarn idea lasting too long honestly....folks that like to color pool will like it but I think beginners will struggle
Thanks for the great tips for making clean color changes! 💙🧶💙

Worth a try because I don't like changing colors and weaving in the ends. Thank you for showing us this yarn.
Those look like a fun way to make granny squares.
I want to see someone's project after making granny squares with these soon.

Yep, it took me a few tries, but I got it (4.5 hook), and I really love how they're turning out. 😊
So far I have found that sacrificing some of the extra stitches (the chain ones along the sides, making the starting chain for each new row 4 vs 6, etc) has helped make up for tension issues without sacrificing size. A fun zen project you can tune out to a show with!

This is amazing!!!🤩
Love the Autumn colors

Same. It's just going to be like the o go's yarn. Novelty!!
I agree, too much hassle and also the colours aren't to my taste

I love that Red Heart has done this. This will.make sweater and vest easy. Could there be a easy vest pattern coming out ?
I can’t wait to try this but I’m gonna wait for sale

Hi 👋 oh darn. All this yarn is "sold out" on yarnspirations site. Doesn't seem to be available anywhere else 😢
They will be restocking and it also will be at Walmart. Check back in a few days:)
TY for response. I'll be checking back.
Just wait. Folks will be selling it from their home stashes soon
@@justcasey6292 😅😅🤩
This yarn looks beautiful ❤️ but it's all sold out😢
Not sold on this. Looks waaaay too complicated to constantly be watching your tension. Too gimmicky just like the o’go yarn. But thank you for taking the time to show us Tiffany! ❤
Cute idea but very limited application. TY for showing us.
Only if your creativity is limited. You can make anything with squares.

What's the website to buy

These are Susan Bates Confort Grips and they are sold in Yarnspirations website
Where can I purchase this yarn

That’s not what ocd is
Can you knit little squares for afghan
Salve, è possibile avere la traduzione automatica anche in italiano? Grazie 👋
In 30 minutes haven't been able to make a single square 🙃 😒 i might just crochet it without the color sequence/pattern.
I enjoyed watching you use this new yarn… but I don’t think it’s for me. Reminds me of color pooling, stressing about every stitch 😅.
Do you make a circle of 4
Yes chain for then join with then first chain to make a circle
Crochet granny square yarn all in one . Red Heart yarnspiration where can I purchase this yarn and how much does it cost.

Where is it going to be available at ? Besides yarn inspirations I never chained 6 ? For a granny square
I think it also will be available at Walmart
The chain 6 at the beginning of the round counts as 1 double crochet and your corner.
Oh what a wonderful idea. IT IS obviously Not available in Europe, isn't it?????
Español por favor

I m with you,I actually do not like variegated or self striping yarn,
Thanks for the video but I do not care for that yarn.
Ditto
Good idea, but not really practical since each user has to determine their own gauge depending on tension. Also, a little pricey 🧶
Tighter and a shorter tail....I don't see this yarn idea lasting too long honestly....folks that like to color pool will like it but I think beginners will struggle
Unfortunately I don't care for Red Heart yarn
