- Tuesday took us by surprise with a terrible fire that's devastated gardens, cars, outbuildings and rural livelihoods. We still can't quite believe it's happened but feel grateful there was no loss of life.

I remembered that we have what looks like brand new fire hydrants in the village, with one opposite our house, and we've noticed other villages have them also. I wonder whether they would actually work though what with water being so precious and at times unavailable even for drinking.

Fire is terrible. Being from Australia we go through this neatly every year. It is usually a different state each year. We loose hectares of land, native animals, properties and sadly people. Bulgaria be mindful of all your glass littered everywhere. In extreme heats, the glass becomes a magnifying glass. Thinking of you all. 😢
@user-pm2gl6pf7m yes, I moved my mirror! But people will still use equipment and have bonfires regardless of the rules

Its scary to see how close those flames are to the village.
@elainemcguinness3962 the fire hit that end of the village badly, people were left with no gardens or outbuildings. How the houses survived, I don't know.
@@Bulgaria_Bucharest I've just been watching some videos from Golyam Manastir. The fire took out 3 houses. Thankfully they were all abandoned ones, but someone has still lost out.
Very scary times indeed for countries with extreme heat conditions, hope everyone keeps safe over there but very sad for those who have suffered great loss, farmers in particular.

Its not "climate change" for bulgaria. We actually had insane blazes since millenia.

@@Bulgaria_Bucharest Its always been this hot in Bulgaria. I think its getting hotter because we cut so much forests😢.
@atanasstoilov421 I agree. It doesn't help. In the uk we have cut down forests and built on green land and now it floods all the time!
