    AURoRA's a master storyteller through her music.
    She always leaves room for interpretation for the listener - depending on where he or she is in their own personal journey.
    Wikipedia says this was written after AURoRA read the novel MURDER SONG written by Jon Cleary.
    She's said in several interviews, that this is a sad sad love song... 'cause he really loved her.

    The way she expresses through a song is amazing. She will also have different performances of the same song to change the mood up. She has an up-beat more positive version of this very song performed live at Lollapalloza and the experience is totally different.

    Beautifully done reaction. As others here will report, Aurora wrote this song after hearing about the mercy killing of a loved one dying from a fatal illness near where she lived. I am not sure if anyone really knows what that means unless they have a love one experiencing the same fate. My wife died of lung cancer after having a stoke. A common occurrence. She was recovering from the stroke when almost a year later she learned it was caused by stage 4 lung cancer. As the cancer began to prevail, she experienced periods of great pain and suffering. The doctors did what they could but it came and went. There were times during that process she wanted to die but you had to let the pain pass :-( In the end she wanted to live every moment she could and she set goals to mark the passage of time. For Aurora to compose this verse when still a child is a remarkable achievement. She realizes the thoughts that many face but only a very few succumb to. It is one of two very important songs she has written. "Lucky" is the second.

    I loved your commentary on this Brother. So happy you continued this musical journey. She is like the band Tool....her music is more than just music, it's an embodiment of art and nature itself, the soul stripped raw to its essence we all share.
    In case no one else said it this song was written after she read a story about a man that killed his terminally ill wife that was suffering and longed for it to end...so out of love and mercy he "relieved" her of all her earthly suffering. Its deep.
    Your reaction was beautiful. I wish you all the best.

    About 5,4,3,2,1 Murder Song
    She wrote this song after reading an article about a man that killed his wife who had been diagnosed with a painful terminal illness.

  • @beneto7582
    @beneto7582 3 года назад +5

    If I remember right she said in an interview that she has read in a newspaper that a husband has killed his wife. He did it because she was terminally ill and the pain gets worse and worse. So she asked him to kill her.

      @@LeNaInLoVe This story started with one person and when asked for a source, was told to stop being lazy and find it myself. Only comments I found on this and some other songs she has made is basically her writing the song(s) to work through a fear, emotion, or as a thought exercise (like In Boxes, In Bottles).

    Great reaction 👍
    This is a story Aurora heard or read about that happened in another country than Norway.
    It was a man that killed his wife for mercy. She knew it and she had a lot of pain, so he did it to ease her pain😢
    This is what Aurora said in an interview:
    "It's a tragic love story. Very tragic. The saddest thing is that he really loves her." AURORA ❤️

    I hear this song is about a real murder case somewhere in Europe, where a wife asked her husband to kill her cause she was very sick. Deep song!

  • @Geralt26
    @Geralt26 3 года назад

    My interpretation when I first hear it (and did not know anything more) that it was some kind of euthanasia. He loved her and did not wanted to kill, but killed her from a mercy as she was deadly sick and in pain.
    I see many recommendation already. To be honest you can not choose wrong with Aurora - she has only great and very very good songs. Only there are more or less favourite versions of the same songs:).

    Aurora's head shaking has to do with reducing stress. These are her nerves. Less to do with the performance itself. Her energy has to go. She does this with heavy movements and shaking her head. It was more intense then than it is today. Today she is no longer so scared on stage. That was her first important appearance in front of millions of viewers. After the show in the interview, she said she almost peed herself in fear and excitement.😁
    Today she still does it all. She paints the pictures she sings with her hands and also likes to shake her head, but all of this is more in flow now than it was back then.
    The story behind the murder song.
    Aurora wrote this song after reading about a "murder" in the newspaper near her homeland. A man killed his wife/girlfriend out of love. She was seriously ill and suffered more every day. He released her from suffering.
    The song is sung from the perspective of the woman's ghost. Maybe he killed her with her consent (I hope so) or he made the decision on his own.
    You will only find this explanation of this song in one interview with her (unfortunately I don't have a link to the interview and I can't find it anymore; so a question of belief). It's not written anywhere else. And usually she doesn't explain her songs that specifically either, because she wants everyone to find their own story in them.
    She usually only says to the song it is a true tragic love story that doesn't end well.
    It should be said that this News was an inspiration for this song. That doesn't have to mean that the song itself is about it. Of course, it is written in such a way that many interpretations are possible. Just like Aurora actually always does.
    To the countdown. Some people say the "killer" is counting down. On the contrary, the song is sung by the victim all the time. For me that means that she counts down herself and than her boyfriend pulls the trigger.
    And she knows that he knows that he kills her for mercy. That means they both know. Sounds like an agreement.

    Aurora is incredibly special. Why? She was 19 when this was recorded, try and find another shy 19 year old who can write lyrics like this and present such a performance (barefoot on tip toes) at a prestigious international event. More difficult than the proverbial "needle in a haystack" (you can have success with that using a magnet).
