I'm so in love with her magical brain. Her writing feels like great mythology and epic tales of adventure. She looks like this ethereal little forest fairy and then she opens her mouth and almost sounds like one until the lyrics hit you and you realize she is letting you in on something primal and dark and I dont even know. What a cool human being she is.

When I was in her age (and younger) everyone told me all the time I were so different and weird and should correct myself.I felt so ashamed to be different, to be me. Your English is fantastic in this, so good job. That person that was you as a kid is still there and it isn't too late to let her out. It's much better to be looked at as different than to be considered the same as the rest. Love ya.
Never be ashamed of who you are! i've felt this sometimes too, the pressure of society to keep you on the "tracks" can be overwhelming and not everyone can bear it, sadly. Luckily, i stayed on my way and kept being who i love to be, ME! Good luck to all of us in this journey. Also, english is not my first language, but let's not be ashamed of that too hehe speak a different language is hard AF.
@@edgarurmeneta you mean every autistic person is good at singing or what 🤨 yeah if singing is their special interest, they may want to learn that skill. But every single person (autistic or not) learns differently.
The sentence " I kept running for a soft place to fall" reminds me of Robert Frost's poem: "The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep..."
37 year old black man who just discovered her a month ago. In no way my usual cup of tea but her artistry and the emotion out into it has made her one of my favorites.
It's called "the moment" ... we've all been there, probably more than once... but a few, very special, very blessed, creatures get to live there. ... Aurora is just such a rare and elusive creature. A heart bigger than her skin... living in a moment bigger than her life... a soul that not only lights up a room, but which explodes like a sun into every crack and corner. She truly is the very best of us.
Don’t you just love those moments when you know you should be sleeping but you keep finding absolute gems - this is one of those times - they’re both amazing!
SAME SAMEEEEEE i could still remember the first thing i heard of her was HALF THE WORLD AWAY!!!! that random thumbnail and it was THE BEST THIIIINNGGG! been stanning her since 2015 huhuhu 😭😭😭💞
You feel that because Martin (The guitarist here) is harmonizing on the thirds, and he's great at it! But yeah, it's not just natural, it's deliberate.
@@judgementofsouls you are just disconnected from the things that some peoole are more connected to. I love extreme technical death metal stuff and it didn't take long for this song for me to shed a tear.
We lost an incredible vocalist this year whom which did the same at all his shows. R.I.P Trevor Strnad. I miss you every day. Please, reach out if you ever need to let anything out, if you're hurting inside, let someone know, so someone can help heal with you. I love you all❤️
I catch myself feeling somehow guilty for looking directly at her. Like she is showing such a complete and honest version of herself, and I don’t know her well enough to be allowed to see it. So I look away, and can’t stop myself from looking back.
Probably cause she's laying it all bare in her performance, which makes it all the more personal and intimate. Ironic at the same time, since you're not there in the room. I think it shows how good she comes across as a performer. Very impressive.
Such an interesting and deep comment! This is one of those things that many people feel but lies undiscovered until someone doesn't light it up...sometimes even thinking he's the only one to feel such a thing, and that what he is going to say won't make all that sense for the others. Instead what a beautiful surprise it is, when this moment comes and what once was something untold appears to be so true among people all over the world. By the way, I personally think there is something hypnotic in Aurora's eyes and movements...I can't help but think she has a special charm. She makes you feel uncomfortable and incredibly comfortable at the same time. I wonder what would happen listening to her live, alone in a small room.
Kaue Uematsu Have you heard a barbershop quartet when they all hit the same note but in their different tones and their voices mesh really nicely? Thats harmonizing.
@Sean Gold I think your barbershop quartet reference is the best to explain what harmonizing is, but your terms are a bit off. I'm sure you meant that they hit the different notes of a chord. The voices mesh really nice because we perceive it as just being one chord and not many notes.
from my amateur understanding, harmonies have to do with the interval or the distance between two or more notes. There are several intervals (for example from the 1st to the 3rd note, or from the 1st to the 5th note of a scale) which sound naturally great to the human ear, on every scale. If you combine those 1st, 3rd and 5th note you have a ordinary triad, or in general a chord or even more general a harmony. By definition you can combine any notes together and call them a harmony, but I think the avg listener is more focused on how well the harmony sounds. Hope it was helpful, I´m more used to the german technical terms.
I love that she looks almost embarrassed at the end. Like why are they making such a fuss? She's such a contradiction. She seems so unsure of herself, yet looks completely free in the way she expresses herself physically, especially on Jimmy Fallon. I love it.
she said in a tiktok that she is introverted, that she is scared of people but not scared of what people think of her, I guess that shows her unique way of be, she might feel uncomfortable being surrounded by people but she will never be uncomfortable in her own skin
yeah I miss Martin his vocals where just so smooth in company with Aurora's really noticed with the new guitarist vocally just not quite the same standard T^T
+Axis Maybe I'm just getting used to them, but the new band members seemed to really hit their stride playig together at the Lollapalooza Brazil concert this year. I really missed Odd Martin myself. ruclips.net/video/Tg-nbbWkfaU/видео.html
true they're deffs coming into their own saw a few live small shows for various radio and stuff since that tour starting to grow on me :) while still never the same tho...
I love how she acts out her songs as she sings, it's like she's actually there and can see and feel what she is singing. I close my eyes and join her. I love her.
There's something so raw with her movement and facial expressions. I know that is what everyone is commenting on, but it's really hard to feel like this and show it to an audience. So many people would be embarrassed! She looks quite strange at many points, very fluttery and her eyes look lost. But she's so into her song that she almost isn't there, and I don't feel as if it is an act. I feel like she's giving us exactly who she is and that is so so special.
She’s an incredible performer. Those gazes...those movements...she speaks in a language that most can’t talk in but we all understand. What an incredible gift to our world her existence is. Thanks lady. Keep it up.
Tiny Desk concerts are perfection, here artists are stripped down to their raw greatness. Only problem is it is hard to listen to their over produced albums afterwards... Not. The. Same. I have a lot of favorite artists now, but with only 3 songs I can ever listen to.
Yep. It's a real buzz killer when you go buy the studio produced album based on an NOR Tiny Desk Concert. I did that with Family Crest because I was so smitten by Beneath the Brine, but I keep going back to their NPR version. Studios today just can't get it that less is more and better. They just gotta add ten more effects. Argh.
The choice of the songs here is brilliant. Runaway represents loss, wanting to get away, escape from just everything and not knowing what to do, basically, confusion and sadness, and then there is Murder song, which obviously represents the moment of Impact, the moment that changes everything in your life without you even noticing, a moment of extreme struggle and realising the things we love aren't always the best for us, and then there is Running With The wolves which means in my opinion, healing, and realising that loving yourself is the only key there is to be saved, it represents getting over whatever hurt you and becoming a braver, stronger and much better person. I'm just, I'll leave you the words.
I found her music when I was is such a dark place in my life. I was in the hospital and thought I was going to die from a surgery mistake and after 48 days of being in there I survived but I get a really weird feeling every time I hear her. It’s like fear and anxiety all in one but almost a peacefulness as well. I know it sounds weird but Im still very happy to listen to her because it reminds me that I made it.
+Dan «BTTG» Gimberg even cooler is that she wrote In Boxes when she was 11 and Lucky at 9-10 and Awakening at 14 and in her album you will hear song written when she was 9 !! What?? She is a prodigy with capital letters!
+Dan «BTTG» Gimberg The story behind Lucky is : when she was a kid she had a favourite place with lots of trees which she used to climb and one day she saw the machines cutting down the trees becase of house building and she wrote the song about tha experience ,a beautiful song! She was a very happy kid with a loving family so suicide wasn't in her mind at all. In Boxes is a story about a very strange and scary old lady.! She can confuse anyone because all her songs are filled with metaphorses, there are some joyful exeptions like Warriors and Conqueror!
+Dan «BTTG» Gimberg Everything has 2 sides ..life the bright and dark Not many songwriters are brave enough to write about the dark side Aurora did that as a child with elagance.Incredible! Animal Soul is a new song recently uploaded on RUclips and OMG it's such beautiful song. She forgot the lyrics but the audience didn't care at all they just love her!
+Yves V I'm norwegian and have read and seen all her interviews. Example. a radio interview with RTHK-radio 3 in Hong Kong she said that Runaway was written when she was 11 All her songs except 'Little Boy in the grass' (15) 'Puppet'(16) ,'Conqueror' and 'Running with the wolves' (18) were written between 9-14 yr. Aurora said that in her album release March -16 you'll find songs written between 9-18 yr.
i come back to these "old" live videos of aurora and i just love how she changed since the beginning of her career. i feel like she has developed so much as a person as well as an artist :-)
I love her so much. You can just see how she's immediately transported into her own world when she starts singing and moving her hands and dancing. And she's so awkward (in a charming way) in between songs. I love her because she's me. I just feel her in my soul. She's got the confidence that I don't quite yet have but she inspires me. I'm reconnecting to myself and my art because she's so incredible
I wouldn't be surprised if she is on the spectrum. So much emotion and thoughts going on inside her head and mere words are not enough to express what she is feeling.

Her instrumented albums are to be sold. These minimal, acoustic, stripped down versions are the real deal, the real art!
What an awesome voice! It's almost like she gets so into her singing, she gets lost in it. When she's done singing she has this look on her face like "where am I?" She's extraordinary!
In my humble opinion, she is one of the most prolific female voices of this generation. There are some voices that generate pure magic, pure bliss and is such a great feeling to be able to listen to. Thank the above I was born with the ability to hear - although I can imagine this can be felt through all facets, audio or no.
hahaha except that the sun actually shines for all 24 hours during the summer in the northern hemisphere! It's pitch black in the winter time though, but then again we've got the northern lights
Beautiful Bjork like energy. I love it. I relate to the odd little bird-ness. The energy that flows through a body making music can cause an awkward lovely little dance. I get it.
When this released years back i noticed my dog would fall asleep when i put it on and let it play. Today i put my sweet girl to rest, then came home and happy cried to this set. Ty for beautiful music from amazing people, thank you for soundtracks to life!
I was lucky enough to catch a very special concert with her this summer in Norway. She played at "The Magical White Caves in Gudvangen" Imagine this beautiful music inside a white cave with light effects emulating the aurora polaris. It was quite the experience!
+fridge In October I manage to attend to her concert in Paris, at Les Etoiles… small place, two meters near her, and near her great Band. She uses a very special reverb to define her voice… superb… I can't imagine how it was at Gudvangen. Glorious probably! At the end of the concert I approached her… she embraced me while I was happily near to cry… One hour of deep, deep happiness, fridge… even if she calls her songs… dark pop. I would better call them Gospel Pop!
I think you should think about having her back again :) Because even though she´s amazing here, I also feel like her skills developed a lot in the last couple of years!
I'm from Washington State, and I've seen some of the most magical and beautiful places amongst the mountains, lakes, glaciers, etc, and the best way to describe each of those places is her voice
This is the hardest environment to perform. No technology to hide behind. Just the performers and an acoustic guitar. I would not fault anyone for being nervous. This shows how truly special she is as an artist. While I love everything of hers I have listened to, this is special as the audience has a direct line to her wonderful ability to draw everyone in to her world.
A friend shared this and I love it.I first heard Aurora 5 years ago, her voice, her expression and passion were unique and captivating....and still are😍
This song gives me an oceanic feeling, when she says “take me home where I belong,” I picture when I’m older, and nearing death, repeating this mantra, looking forward to returning to the state of being I have been for most of all time: part of all, conscious of none.
wow, shes 100% outside herself and into the music, completely committed to the song, the story and each phrase and note. that's why it strikes us as soon unique. I would not be surprised if she never saw a Sia video or whoever she might be compared to.

That's what I was thinking, gentle and majestic and utterly MAGICAL
The stories are real
I'm sure that she, Florence Welch, and Hozier are all from some other world parallel to ours.
Hence the wish to be taken home where she belongs. I believe she belongs to another part of this universe.
She's pure magic. Everytime she sings her songs, you can tell she remembers why she wrote them. Stunning.

its called autism. She is autistic that's why she is so good because uses a lot of brain capacity to sing
True … she’s a great artist first then being autistic which helps elevate her artistry to a magical level!

It's like she's discovering each word as it comes out of her mouth. By the way I see The 1975 in your profile picture. I adore them.
Soooo amazing. I love it.
My theory: all her songs got a "mute line" on the music sheet for her feelings when she sings
You must have never heard or seen Bjork. She is the queen of queens, and this little girl has mimicked Bjork's style forever. Hands down.

I agree. Their harmonies are very well matched and underrated.
These two were born to sing together. Both their voices blend together well naturally like the sun and the ocean
I really miss them working together
You feel that because Martin (The guitarist here) is harmonizing on the thirds, and he's great at it! But yeah, it's not just natural, it's deliberate.
Martin did a great job same as aurora. They are like rainbows in the field with flowers and butterflies.

Goosebumps and tears for exactly 13 minutes 20 seconds...this woman is from another galaxy...
I catch myself feeling somehow guilty for looking directly at her. Like she is showing such a complete and honest version of herself, and I don’t know her well enough to be allowed to see it. So I look away, and can’t stop myself from looking back.
Nathan Burbank Same actually
One of the most honest comments ever seen. Same feeling here. She's so pure
I don't feel that way. But appreciate you shared your feelings
The harmonies are spectacular.
+Darwin's Beer Reviews Hey buddy! I don't know much about music, do you mind explaining what do you mean by that? Thanks!
+Kaue Uematsu ruclips.net/video/evBgLWQwAFA/видео.htmlm42s
This part.

Argh.
So true.
Found Julien Baker through these and her Audiotree sets, and while she's AMAZING live, her studio albums do not disappoint.
Yes!! Exactly
Agreed.
Ah, the good old song interpretation/English essay in the comments!
I never did this with any other artist, she is such an inspiration, thank you so much by the way.
So superficial! The songs means more than just that!
Nourane Zayen that's so beautiful 🌸💜
I found her music when I was is such a dark place in my life. I was in the hospital and thought I was going to die from a surgery mistake and after 48 days of being in there I survived but I get a really weird feeling every time I hear her. It’s like fear and anxiety all in one but almost a peacefulness as well. I know it sounds weird but Im still very happy to listen to her because it reminds me that I made it.
Thank you for sharing ❤
aw she was so nervous.. it's amazing how much she's evolved when it comes to performing live, since this performance :')
that look, she is living each lyric and went to another place while singing. Rare gem
She doesn't just sing words they come out of her as emotional communication, like she is seeing and feeling the words are literal. Amazing!
You got it right
Please bring her back. Her voice has grown so much.
This maybe one of the most amazing performances I've ver seen. I am convinced she is David Bowe and Bjork's love child.
She makes me feel again.
The coolest thing about this girls, is that she actually write all of here music and lyrics herself.
+Leo Dobrodenka where'd you get this info from?
+Yves V I'm norwegian and have read and seen all her interviews. Example. a radio interview with RTHK-radio 3 in Hong Kong she said that Runaway was written when she was 11 All her songs except 'Little Boy in the grass' (15) 'Puppet'(16) ,'Conqueror' and 'Running with the wolves' (18) were written between 9-14 yr. Aurora said that in her album release March -16 you'll find songs written between 9-18 yr.
Aurora was absolutely splendid but I don't see many comments about that killer guitar work or harmony.
Odd Martin helped Aurora to her fame. He co-produced her first albums. He is a top notch musician. Cudos
8:44 I love how she got a bit nervous when talking between the songs. She even take the bottle, open, and then CLOSE IT LOL

Thanks for pointing that out! When she is singing, she is a Goddess. In between, she is so so innocent.

She could possibly be the purest thing we have on this planet. Whatever we did to deserve her is beyond me.
Please bring her back! Back then she was a beautiful cute little caterpillar, now she's a huge magnificent butterfly.
She gets lost in the music in a way that few are able to. It’s mesmerizing.
This girl is so talented. No big crazy show needed, the music speaks for itself.
I love how expressive she is with her hands throughout
I love her so much. You can just see how she's immediately transported into her own world when she starts singing and moving her hands and dancing. And she's so awkward (in a charming way) in between songs. I love her because she's me. I just feel her in my soul. She's got the confidence that I don't quite yet have but she inspires me. I'm reconnecting to myself and my art because she's so incredible
Exactly the same for me ! She is à beautiful and awesome soul, i understand her so much !
I wouldn't be surprised if she is on the spectrum. So much emotion and thoughts going on inside her head and mere words are not enough to express what she is feeling.
Her instrumented albums are to be sold. These minimal, acoustic, stripped down versions are the real deal, the real art!
I barely even listen to her much anymore but i randomly come back to this every so often, its got something special about it
I like the end of the songs where you can see her transitioning out of her fantasy world back to reality, it’s like she’s coming out of a trance
What an awesome voice! It's almost like she gets so into her singing, she gets lost in it. When she's done singing she has this look on her face like "where am I?" She's extraordinary!
She looks so fragile, like a delicate flower. I love how she sings and dances with her hands. She's in a different world and yet we can still see her
In my humble opinion, she is one of the most prolific female voices of this generation. There are some voices that generate pure magic, pure bliss and is such a great feeling to be able to listen to. Thank the above I was born with the ability to hear - although I can imagine this can be felt through all facets, audio or no.
