Aurora wrote this after reading an article about a man in Norway who killed his wife to end her suffering from an incurable disease. Other songs she has written after finding information about specific topics are "The River" (a response to male suicide statistics) and "It Happened Quiet" (in response to violence in relationships).

For a young woman who never really wanted to be performing on stage, she is pretty good at conveying her own and other's music. Probably she is true to her own opinion. She is not as much performing her songs as living them on stage.

She just enjoyed writing them. She didn't expose herself at all until the age of about 13/14, although she started writing and composing at the age of 8/9, maybe even earlier. She didn't even tell anybody about her writing. Her first period as an artist was quite painful for her. It took her a long time and many concerts to enjoy performing. It's a fascinating story...

The story behind the murder song.
Aurora wrote this song after reading about a "murder" in the newspaper near her homeland. A man killed his wife/girlfriend out of love. She was seriously ill and suffered more every day. He released her from suffering.
The song is sung from the perspective of the woman's ghost. Maybe he killed her with her consent (I hope so) or he made the decision on his own.
You will only find this explanation of this song in one interview with her (unfortunately I don't have a link to the interview and I can't find it anymore; so a question of belief). It's not written anywhere else. And usually she doesn't explain her songs that specifically either, because she wants everyone to find their own story in them.
She usually only says to the song it is a true tragic love story that doesn't end well.
It should be said that this News was an inspiration for this song. That doesn't have to mean that the song itself is about it. But since it all fits together, I think so. Of course, it is written in such a way that many interpretations are possible. Just like Aurora actually always does.
To the countdown. Some people say the "killer" is counting down. On the contrary, the song is sung by the victim all the time. For me that means that she counts down herself and than her boyfriend pulls the trigger.
And she knows that he knows that he kills her for mercy. That means they both know. Sounds like an agreement.

She doesn't make music, she IS music. You can tell that it's coming out not just in her voice, but in her eyes and her body - and how she snaps out of it after a performance afterwards, it looks like she wakes up or returns to this world from somewhere else.
I read that they wanted her to not move her hands as much when she started performing in public, and she tried but it didn't work - it's such a strong instinct that controlling it hinders her.

  • @joesisco8145

Your body is an instrument as a vocalist and when you "feel it" your body moves to reach for the sounds you want to make which inturn makes it easier to hit the notes and also get lost in the "story". She goes barefoot on stage to give her more energy and power by being grounded and secure.

My mother lived the last 5 years of her life with dementia and a memory of 5 minutes in a nursing home for people with dementia.
She never wanted to be dependent on other people, let alone fed and washed.
Imagine waking up every damn morning in a strange environment with strangers washing you, brushing your teeth, wiping your butt, changing diapers.
Nothing against the nurses, they are great people with a job that is far too poorly paid and had to manage, aggressively fearful people.
But sometimes she laughed and felt good, often not. I couldn't have put her out of her misery, sorry mom.
Whenever I hear the song I always think of you and tears come to my eyes almost immediately because I can relate to it so much.
    Masterpiece and masterpiece of performance.

Is it excessive? Just think about it, your loved one is terminally ill and in her future are suffering and great pains and no cure. She wants to die before the pains and suffering gets worse. Can you honestly say that you wouldn't want that loved one to die in peace and when they wanted or would you honestly want them to suffer till the end in pain?
This is why euthanasia should be legal in every country. I can imagine this song being about mercy killing aka euthanasia but in most countries that would be considered as murder and premeditated at that.

I would check out any performance from her Nidarostomen concert. My favorites would be "Through the eyes of a child", "Lucky", "Little boy in the grass". They are all good, so just pick something. As for this song, I think it was based on a story in her local paper. And it was a mercy killing from a spouse killing their terminally ill spouse to put them out of their misery. Yes, technically it is murder, but in the song she is stating, in my opinion, that she wanted to die. But, I suppose it can be up to interpretation by the listener. As for other Aurora to check out, I also really love "A different kind of human" live at Christine's radio festival or "Infections of a different kind" live from the Haik concert.

I really don't understand this adversarial stance against reactors that the entertainment industry and You Tube have. Common sense would dictate a mutually beneficial approach in which the reactor share in the revenue that any particular video generates. In essence a reactor uses someone else's work to get views on their own channel, that's true enough. But a good reactor doesn't alter that work in any adverse way. Instead he (or she) enhances the original piece of work by adding different kinds of value to them.
One added value is that people that would not seek out a particular artists work by them selves because of one reason or another, suddenly may be interested in that artist, purely because they have been exposed to him (or her) by watching a reactor that they like and respect. That kind of exposure must be very valuable for the artist and the record label, and they didn't have to spend any money to get it.
Kind of like a company that makes aftermarket parts for cars. Some car models in their original form does not garner much interest among a certain demographic. But they can suddenly get noticed and coveted by that very demographic when they are modified with after market components, made by companies not affiliated with the original maker. That then creates a mutually beneficial situation wherein the car manufacturer adds a new client base and sell more cars, not thru their own efforts, but by the efforts of an outside company. The after market parts producer in turn gets access to all the different markets where that car manufacturer sells their products. And finally, the buyers of these enhanced products all around the world now get to drive the type of cars they find matches their driving style and taste, everyone wins.
I have myself found several new artists that I would have never sought out on my own simply by watching different reaction channels, most recently the artist NF. I never used to listen to rap, the genre seemed to be filled with a bunch of braggarts and misogynists with BIG attitudes and stupid lyrics as far as I was concerned. But one day a few months ago I was exposed to NF thru a reactor that I like. And in this artist I found quality's and a attitude that I found very appealing (and the music is banging too, as the younger generation puts it...). So now I'm subscribed to a RAP channel. (I can hardly believe it myself) The ONLY reason I have subscribed to NF:s official channel is because of that reactor. So shouldn't he also be able to profit a little in this situation? Why is that not the standard on You Tube? I don't understand.
Other added values that reaction channels can provide an artist is increased appreciation for their singing ability thru the analysis by voice coaches or other artists. Reaction channels further more help keep the fans of various artists exited about them between record drops because they like watching different people react to their favorite artist. Finally I want to mention the comment section on these reaction channels which provide a space for the fans (new and old) to mingle and discuss and share information about the artist. This also helps the artist to get new fans and to keep the old ones by no effort of their own or by their record label. 👍
(I first posted this comment on the Wolf Rock channel, since he is fighting You Tube about this very topic right now...)

Loving Aurora and her music but don't be mistaken as her being controlled by her emotions cause by the song and music. This is all part of a well performed cheography. You will notice that in all performances of the song she does almost every single bit in the same way and order. This just shows how professional the is.

Can you react to Ariana grande sweetener your vocals. She’s gotten so much better and I believe she is the best vocalist of our generation.

Great reaction!! BUT : ...I saw some other video of You two.. And that GUY is just the most self-centered (and maybe narcassistic (?) ) guy I have ever seen.. : -Putting Himself closest to the camera! Talking nonsense : "Aurora is My future wife"!!!??? (from Wardruna video..) ..And You : Guy! have the most beautiful and lovely Young Lady sitting right beside You!!! -..would like to see YOU , Andrea, beautiful young Woman , doing Your own "reaction" videos! ..without that horrible guy..

I skipped to next vid because of him and it takes a lot to drag me from an Aurora reaction. To call him a halfwit would be to give him 100% too much credit

Dude, She was in horrible pain and it would only get worse until she died of a terminal condition, Maybe you don't know the background story and your reaction isn't as calloused, insensitive, and LACKING OF EMPATHY (that's a big hint you Andrea) as it sounds, or maybe you shouldn't bother trying to be an artist. The world needs mechanics too.
BTW I noticed a while back that this is Andrea's channel and you're ALWAYS positioned to upstage her.
