Bryce Antony Franco da Silva Iranians are not Asian by American census bureau standards.
*In the US Census, people with origins or ancestry in the Far East, Southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent are classified as part of the Asian race;* while those with origins or ancestry in North Asia (Russians, Siberians), Central Asia (Kazakhs, Uzbeks, Turkmens, etc.), Western Asia (diaspora Jews, Turks, Persians, West Asian Arabs, etc.), and the Caucasus (Georgians, Armenians, Azeris) are classified as "white" or "Middle Eastern". As such, "Asian" and "African" ancestry are seen as racial categories for the purposes of the Census, since they refer to ancestry only from those parts of the Asian and African continents that are outside the Middle East and North Africa.

    1) i love the musician woman. she's a cultural melting pot.
    2) i always find it strange that Americans (or i suppose specifically white Americans) would so easily judge people of different color/race when their country is a nation of nations, beliefs, cultures, identities, etc.
    3) "whiteness falls apart" deep. let that sink in.

But many people choose to define themselves in terms of their identities, and in the end we all talk about identity. If you don't really care about having an identity in this sense that's fine, but I think one should respect the identities of others.

Distinguishing individuals or populations based on racial conceptualizations primarily originated in the colonial era to establish a hierarchical structure of power.

Although, there are many Iranians live in US and the neighboring country Canada, but due to media poisoning the Iranian's rich and educated culture in West, many Iranians live under the radar. This wasn't like this back in 1975 when I was going to university of Miami.
I think AJ is on a great mission to uncover Iranian culture and how the media and US government have blindly put the wrong stamp on this civilization.
A few months ago, an older American guy asked me a sincere question and he was not trying to provoke me. He asked "Do you have cars in Iran?". That was telling me how deep and ignorant most Americans are about other countries. And the media rides and profits on that.
AJ, do these videos since you seem to enjoy it. It will be a great service and offering to your heritage.

    • @chrisb9996
      @chrisb9996 4 года назад

Ben Hayat I don’t think a conversation with one guy or even the media can tell you about what most Americans think about Iran. There’s 320 million Americans. I do think there are a lot of ignorant people here, but there’s also a lot of diversity here which allow us to be in contact with people from different cultures. One can also say that there are many people outside of the US who are ignorant about the US due to them believing what they see on movies and the media.

That guy is totally in love with the pretty singer girl. He's nodding a lot, with eyes wide open, totally held captive. I'm sure she mesmerizes many guys - and all people, in fact. She's a very comfortable and confident singer, and seems cool and artsy, too - kind of like Loreena McKennit.
I didn't know there were working-class Iranians. Those LA Iranian areas look pretty ghetto. That guy in the red-white checked shirt has the most annoying Valley Girl voice. But he's surprisingly deep and interesting in how he identifies as "Iranian from Los Angeles," and how that has a whole dimension to it. They're all annoying LA hipsters.
Iranians Americans really don't suffer from anywhere near the amount of discrimination, stigmas, and extreme stereotyping of Asian Americans. Iranians live much better and more comfortable lives in comparison to Asians in the US.

I wish the Iranian government was a lot more tolerant of all religions. Jews, Christians and Muslims should be able to live in harmony, as should the rest of the world!

    • @ArcanumArcanorum17

You're right they are mixed but not european or indian. Iran sits between three continents, and has around 50% of all the world's haplotypes within the population. You will find balochis who look indian and then you will find kurds or azeris who look european, but they are not idnian or european.

@@smellyuglybaljeet3857 Wrong, the original indo-europeans may have been lighter than the average modern day iranian, but you are forgetting that these "aryans" were nomads, while there were a multitude of iranian settlements in south, central and western iran, for example elamites. When these people mixed, dark skin and hair became dominant, as it does today. Plus, the iranian gene pool has remained unchanged since the iron age. Just look at the behistun inscriptions in pasargad, do people with dark skin and curly hair look white to you, 1000 years before islam?

More and more I'm coming to the conclusion that Islam and Iran are at odds, and coexistence will be impossible between the two. Islam, in short, is Arab cultural imperialism. It's a totalitarian ideology (because it claims to regulate all aspect of human life) that promotes the Arabic language, Arab cultural practices and and Arab history, wrapped in divine messaging. It's no surprise that everywhere that Islam went, the population either became fully Arab, or started on the path to Arabization. Why else would a 3-quarter Iranian-American girl be given an Arabic name, instead of a name from the parents' own cultural heritage? The Arab-centric nature of Islam poses a threat to native cultures, which in the long term either supplants them or gets ejected from them, like contaminated food. We've been dealing with this intrusion and living with dual personalities for 14 centuries. And we've paid dearly for that. I know that we're slowly nearing a full rejection scenario, as more and more Iranians are gaining awareness and disliking Islam. But I can't help but wish for an explicitly anti-islamic stance to be advocated socially and if possible legally, due to the intolerant nature of Islam and its violent history toward our country and its culture and identity.

    • @KING-bt1tm

That’s completely incorrect. Iranians believed in the monotheistic god for thousands of years before the Arabs and will continue to do so for thousands of years to come. The reason to why other places were ‘Arabised’ is because their cultures were inferior to that of the Semitic Arab culture and thus fell to it. However the semites were unable to do this to the superior cultures of the Iranian plateau. Claiming that Iran and the monotheistic religion of Islam are ‘at odds’ is as laughable as saying that a man’s torso is ‘at odds’ with his legs. Don’t forget that millions of Iranians stood up against the western backed ‘king’, replaced him in favour of an Islamic Republic, fought against the Iraqi army (which was the 4th largest of its time and was supported by both the USA and USSR) in order to preserve that Islamic revolution, and have remained strongly committed to Shia Islam after 40 years of economic war with the West. Don’t think that these Diasporans represent the will of all Iranians. They can’t even speak Persian properly and are clearly anti-regimist judging by the ‘lion and sun’ flags that they hang in ‘Tehrangeles’.
