I think the name "Dropsy" is in reference to the character's career literally dropping after the aforementioned fire i.e. He's no longer a part of this circus and people despise him, thus he's dropped into a disheartening situation. Either that or it's because he'll drop on by to give you a hug. Hugs are nice.
Oh man, I love this short Hey-look-at-this-unpopular-game video. Upon some little research the game launched JUST 5 days before Undertale was released, so that might explain something; shame you didn't mention the soundtrack at all, which is actually pretty darn unique, starting with some jazz to later be mixed with some synthetic sounds. Also, at least to me, the game has a very interesting narrative thank to the lack of words, I think this is the first case where a game focus solely on a "show, don't tell" narrative, or at least this is the first one I see. Anyway, even when I'm not a huge fan of point&click games, I might pick it up on the next Steam sale. Awesome video as always, James.
I personally don't see why some people think improved accessibility means a game is worse. It means the developers trimmed the fat; cut out anything needlessly complex. Sure, there's a charm to figuring out the old point-and-click puzzles, but they often tended to be cluttered and poorly designed.
DiscoClam This is an old comment, but I’ll take a crack at it. A lot of the issue with making a game more accessible is what exactly gets thrown out or altered. With point and click games, it can be the difference between fixing nonsensical logic and just taking away any sort of need to think about what you need to do. Clutter and elements of a genre aren’t always properly identified, so by streamlining a series or genre some devs end up getting rid of important elements because they aren’t accessible.
Because after Dark Souls came out and was a success everything has to be tough-as-nails and will kick your ass to be worth anything to most people, so more casual, easy, and accessible games got thrown to the wayside.
DiscoClam in certain cases your right but in other games in order to achieve total accessibility you need to throw away what makes the game like able. Like for example, if you make dark souls super accessible by making it easier the game would be very boring (note some people would counter with Code Vein but I would counter that counter by saying code vein was made with easier play in mind and it give you extra stuff to do other than just combat like the really complicated builds and active abilities as well as map and accessible story content though I still think the combat is a bit jank. That being said Dark souls lacks a lot of this stuff so removing it would kinda make the game boring).
@@marcar9marcar972 In my opinion I think it’s just the fact with the scope of certain games. You can have intricate systems that are polished to a T. You can have the biggest game worlds imaginable. You can have extremely in depth combat in an action game. You can implement all sorts of mechanics into a game. But I think the reason is less that it’s easy to get into and more of just can you understand it. People can be over whelmed by certain games and can put you off and sometimes we just want something simple to understand. I mean why do you think Mario is still so successful to this day. It’s not the fact that there easy. it’s just that some games can overwhelm a person. Like I said your game could be packed with loads of fun things to do that it can almost be to much that it would be impossible to finish it all. I remember when the completionest tried to one hundred percent persona 5 and he even said it left him exhausted and even then finished the game will take you well above 100 hours which is just insane for any person to beat most of the time if your not patient or don’t have time I mean sure beating a game like persona will leave you tired but tiring to 100% it can be way to much. So I think it’s less that people don’t wanna play hard games but more it just that trying to understand everything the game has to offer. Things like this can vary from person to person and I can understand that people don’t have the patience to learn all these systems and spend hours of there lives to master it.
Dropsy: an old term for the swelling of soft tissue due to accumulation of excess water. Really neat game. I was hoping you'd go over the ending since I know I won't have time to play it myself. :')
This is the first game that allows you to hug everything and I'm happy as I thought there wasn't one with especisly one with the hole premise is hugging...now I want even more games that allow you to hug everything or your friends like an emote for example
I love how this game looks, I love how this game has 0 'actual' text on-screen, I love how it tells everything it needs to tell through images, shapes, animations and the like... I'd love to play it but I can't at the moment... Maybe someday!
I'm very impressed with you. This was such a chill, informative, solid video. You really got your point across, and it was interesting to hear you get your point across. Keep it up, bud!
Jesus Christ the melody that you had playing from the game at the beginning of the video was stuck in my head for weeks. All I knew was that it was from some indie game. I can finally rest.
If i remember correctly, you can get the object you need to enter the mines by two ways. The dog can get it by digging the mud patches and the bird can get it by doing something in the right side in the entrance of the mines. Believe me, I lost my dog and I didn't get the object neither, but I don't remember reloading a safe file just to get it with the dog.
Looks like good point and click. Simplistic but gets the job done. I like how it doesn't need an complex story and doesn't require you to be veteran to the genre. It looks somewhat endearing.
Will you review Pony Island? It's a puzzle game with a lot of 4th wall breaking and an interesting story as far as I can tell... but I didn't get to finish it yet.
Looking at the text on the TV at the start it's actually english but using weird designs for the letters. The banners at the bottom say "5 years later" and "Did Dropsy do it?" with no difference between caps or lower case.
Hey Nitro, any plans to review OFF anytime soon? Not quite a rpg maker horror game, but I think it would be interesting enough to give a review about, no?
Idk about you guys but I'd like to see Nitro review Corpse Party. Considering the RPG Maker games he usually reviews, I think it would be right up his alley.
+WafflesDaPancake I bought and beat Corpse Party on the PSP way back when it was first localized. That's probably the only RPG maker to really blow up in a commercial way. They're even making a live action movie based on it now which is pretty crazy. It'd be a good subject to talk about, but I want to wait until the craze dies down so I can talk about everything the game has spawned without there being a couple more things coming out after I made the video.
Somewhat off topic to the main topic of the video. Did you change the camera you use to record yourself? because the image was really smooth and clean. And like always, nice video, gotta love how you talk about the games, maybe its because you truly give your opinion of the game as a whole(unlike many reviewers that only play like the first 10 minutes (or they make it feel like it) of the game but make a 30 min review). And happy 2016!, hope you get the amiibos you are missing without that much trouble
+Andres Flores Nope, I'm still using the same camera I filmed the first Nitro Rad video with. I'm doing it in 60fps now, and I have some actual lighting equipment too, so that would explain the smoother image.
In terms of "Getting Weird" i would call the Adventure: "Edna & Harvey: The Breakout" its (in my opinion) a nice Game that get REALLY disturbing in the End
This is a strange game, but does seem like a game worth trying out at some point. Also is it a relatively short game? It seems short, but its a puzzle game and they can take awhile to play sometimes.
Ok but for real, like, why's he called Dropsy? That's the name of a fish disease. Real hard to watch, poor fishies bloat up and their scales stick outward like a pine cone, it's real bad news. ._. That's not related to the game, I hope.
Flug Zeug Omg I used to breed them! They're wonderful fish, aren't they? Freshwater puffers, too. Those two species were always so smart and personable when I had them
"Dropsy: An old term for the swelling of soft tissues due to the accumulation of excess water. In years gone by, a person might have been said to have dropsy. Today one would be more descriptive and specify the cause. Thus, the person might have edema due to congestive heart failure." It was more common in humans back before proper medical care was a thing, and like you said, is a really unfortunate disease for poor little bettas to get. He's a rather chubby guy, maybe its just an unsettling reference to his appearance? Like, they could have called him Chubby, but Dropsy has more morbid connotations.
The music for this game is INCREDIBLE
I think the name "Dropsy" is in reference to the character's career literally dropping after the aforementioned fire i.e. He's no longer a part of this circus and people despise him, thus he's dropped into a disheartening situation.
Either that or it's because he'll drop on by to give you a hug. Hugs are nice.
Caz it could also be that he dropped that cigar
SPOILERS nah that was totes this one prevalent person.
I thought it referenced to the fact that he's body is swollen and that dropsy is another way of saying oedema.

This game's finally relevant now!
To people who think PT is a good horror game
Ronnie Gonzalez what?
Still published by the same makers of Serious sam, Shadow Warrior and hotline Miami 1 & 2
What the fuck are you on about?

Dude. You need more subs. I love your content. Keep making stuff!
I second that statement

Everytime I see the intro I have the urge to re watch Lain.
This is by far Nitro Rad's most heart warming review
really liked how this episode is formatted. good stuff as always my man

I'm glad you reviewed this game. I had completely forgotten about it.
Love the new style man. Clean and simple, keep it up :)
Jesus Christ the melody that you had playing from the game at the beginning of the video was stuck in my head for weeks. All I knew was that it was from some indie game. I can finally rest.
The word you were looking for is "wholesome"
I actually remember this game.
I got it a few months back.
It was good.

this was pro, great editing bro
Always showing me cool games to play and I'm smitten with you to add a cherry ontop *v*

Very nice quick review.
By the way. The term is "walking dead syndrome"
Have you ever considered reviewing Fur Fighters?
Also, have you ever played Nuclear Throne? It's my GOTY 2015 gameplay-wise, it's so good.
+IWANTMYBREAKFASTNOW My GOTY was FFXIV Online A Realm Reborn
Holy shit are you me
And now is on the Switch
This reminds me of Chulip
Hey Nitro, you should play Legend of Kyrandia series.
hey nitro can you do a review and possibly what you think the game is about. I know that the games old but i wanna hear your take on it.
Hey Nitro, any plans to review OFF anytime soon? Not quite a rpg maker horror game, but I think it would be interesting enough to give a review about, no?
yclatious This is very late but hes done off,im pretty sure.
I actually don't know why his name is Dropsy. Can someone explain?
Scarf Guy I think it's because he's an alien
maybe he has rly bad water retention
Were you looking for the word "softlocked"?
is he called Dropsy because he dropped the cigar that caused the fire?
That gibberish is actually a different language you can translate it and it says stuff its like minecraft enchanting table
Het nitro, you should go over darkest dungeon pretty soon, since it's almost the release of the game
It looks like it's a horror game but it's actually a feel good game.
You need to do Fran Bow, I think you will really like it :)
Perhaps a Review on a Fatal Frame Title ?

I almost explained why is name is Dropsy in the comments. O_o
Why is his name Dropsy?
are those braces?
Wait why is his name Dropsy....
Cause they thought he dropped the cigar
I don't know but it sounds like a clown name so it's good right ?
"Dropsy" means edema, or fluid-retention swelling. Look at the guy.

Change your name to NitroDad!

walking dead is now called gay baby jailled thats what it calls when your softlockes while still being able to move
If I had a nickel for everytime a youtuber I know talked about this game, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened twice.
Why did it have to be a creepy clown? This game is a drawn out ritual, and by playing it, you have allowed yourself to become complicit within it.....
