i been using xt150 connectors for 15+ years on all my 1/8 and xmaxx with no issues, dont have the anti spark but i like that they never come loose. sucks about that esc, those things are not cheap.

If it is brand new and burnt up I feel it is not unethical to buy another one from Amazon and return the bad unit in its place for a refund.
What scale is this truck you are building? looking good
It's 1/6 scale but will have 1/5 size gears and driveline parts for durability
