And secondly, for online racing, iracing is apparently by far the number one due to the competitive driver-base that game has attracted, to the extent that there simply is no contest in that department.
Thanks for your comment! This was more a look at the specific VR elements within these games, rather than the games/experiences as a whole. At the time of writing the video, we had some issues with rF2's VR accessibility so it didn't make the top 10, but as a driving and racing sim it's abolsutely one of the best. We have heard good things about the VR experience since making this video so maybe it would be high up the list were we to make a new one!

Excellent, main thing to remember is that everybody has a different preference when it comes to which game or sim is best. Work out what you enjoy the most, not what everyone else tells you is best... and have a blast!🔥

I was pissed at that, I set an alarm to buy them all the day before they delisted because I wasn't at home when I read the news, and they delisted early on Steam. Like a full day earlier than their announced plans. I still have the game at least..
That's great! It has certainly improved over time. I had issues early on as did Ross when he was testing it for the sake of this video, but personally I find that now it works far better than it did initially.
Well it is now 2024. Other racing games that are very good are RFactor 2 and F1-23. AMS 2 now has a content manager to add new tracks and cars. The new UEVR injector app now allows any UREAL engine 4 or 5 run game to be able to run the games in first person VR. Games like Bike 4 and Bike 5 and others, can't remember their names. This UEVR app is awesome for the PC computer. I use VORPX to run games maybe not in true VR, but in 3D mode with a VR headset. Several racing games are listed in VORPX and are a little better than doing a flat screen display. You are wrong about Assetto Corsa not having Oval tracks, They do. There is a JNS track pack which has 32 Oval tracks. These have been out for quite a while. RFactor 2 also has similar Oval track pack and RFactor 2 has rolling starts. Take care
I did 1.4 super-sampling on 1080p 119hz (textures on low) on my quest 3 in project cars2 before watching this video and i can only say its quite the step up from a quest 2 and I would recommend this to anyone interested in VR driving. However there is only historic F1 cars... so that's obviously a down-turner.
If you're going to do PC simming, the Quest 2 is probably not the best way to go. Sure, it's wireless and convenient (which also introduces the problem of keeping it charged, so not all positive) but it's wireless, which means it may have more latency and it *certainly* has image compression which directly affects your maximum clarity. The HP Reverb G2 - wired in to the PC graphics card directly - may just be the best overall choice, although in Europe a Pico Neo 3 Link (which can be both standalone and wired in via displayport, thus the "link" part) can match or beat it. Both are relatively affordable. The Quest 2 will work, but it's not the optimal tool in this case. Great for standalone play though. Of course, if money is no object and you have a high-end Nvidia GPU, Pimax and others make high FOV units that are tricky to dial in and quirky but should give a superior experience.
I have my Quest 2 connected to my RTX 3080 with a 15 foot usb C cord that transmits 2.1 Gbs throughput... I have no lag on either of my i7-10700kf or i7-11700kf setups and that is with my quest at max res and 120fps.
Live For Speed would have been awesome in VR if not for its abysmal 100Hz physics engine, it plainly doesn’t work in any VR headset because nothing runs at 100Hz exactly, and because of that, there’s always huge stuttering.
I've not gotten AMS2 but I have everything else and I 100% forgot about Live for Speed. I'm going to have to try to find that again. I was one that played it in the early 2000s and long forgot about it
Hello, I'm wondering what recording tool you are using for capturing vr gameplay videos in such good quality. Can you tell me? I'm using OBS + Openvr Plugin but I'm not satisfied with it.
Hey! I used a mixture of OBS Studios and Nvidia Geforce capture depending on the game. It takes a bit of butchering to get each game to look okay, sometimes you need to re-scale the footage when you are editing it if it looks stretched. And I think there was the odd time where I had to use the steam VR viewer to try and capture correctly. Basically it’s a bit of a pain, but you just need to experiment with the capture settings for each game, and make sure you have your bitrate high!
I've been looking to get a VR Headset for quite a while now, but the biggest factor keeping me away from it is good image quality as I heard from many people that you can see black spots in between the pixels.. density stuff and such. And as I am newly getting into SimRacing and are about to get my first proper Rig and Wheel, ditching the G25. I rather go with a 34" single monitor first. Also I was told long-term playing with VR will cook your face and make it exhausting.
I have an old Oculus Rift CV1 and I never notice any black spots. Changing the pixel aspect ratio helped a bit with blurry image though so now it's all cool. I just can't play with screen anymore after trying VR lol.
The resolution has been more than good enough for a few years now. The Reverb G2 is 2160 x 2160 per eye, and it looks on par with a 32" 1080p monitor. If you wait until Q3 2023, you could get the recently announced "Bigscreen Beyond" headset. It is a tiny, super comfortable headset, with 2560 x 2560 per eye micro-OLED displays. Bigscreen Beyond will be the pinnacle of visuals for VR in the price bracket. It's a huge leap ahead of even the Reverb G2 (also LCD vs OLED). It's expensive but if you have the cash, this is the one. Nothing like racing in VR. It's a quantum leap in experience. You're there, in that car, driving it yourself. A 2d monitor cannot even compare.
I think the best VR experience I had was the first time playing PC2, the Knockhill track in a small open-wheeler. Belting down the straight, side by side with another car, looking round and seeing it “actually there”! Going into the corner, being able to focus on the front offside wheel and have proper depth perception. An incredible experience! The worst experience I had was Dirt Rally. Felt sick for hours after just a few minutes on a windy course 😂 (may have been to do with my underpowered GPU at the time)
@@the_mpower oh I actually bought that, mainly for my 12yo daughter. Forgot it was in my library, I’ll need to check out mods for it! Thanks for reminding me 🙂

PCVR was the only reason I got back into PC gaming. I'm now on my second PC. From a 3090 to a 4090 and from a 5900X to a 13900KF. And the game that I play the most - Assetto Corsa from 2014. The new CSP and Pure mods will take everything you can throw at it, and still need to be optimised when using a Varjo Aero/Reverb G2 if you want all the eye candy turned on. All the recent hype about GT7 and PSVR2 - I hope it brings some new blood to the PCVR driving scene. It was GT Sport and the PSVR1 that got me hooked on VR driving titles and why I made the switch to PC.
@@B6447NW I used to have FSR/DLSS enabled on my 3090. It was a necessary evil. But with the 4090 I was able to leave FSR/DLSS off and it looked noticeably better. It’s small things like jaggies on wires across the screen etc but it all adds to the immersion. So it’s hard to go back to enabling FSR/DLSS again on the 4090. With ACC, I can still keep DLSS off but I just have my settings set to somewhere between VR High and VR Ultra when I play in good weather. With rain etc, it will require judicious adjustments to get to 90. Check HamVR’s channel on his frame timings with the 4090 with Reverb G2 and Quest 2. So far, GT7 has been rock solid for me even with 20 cars on the grid and with full weather effects.
Same happened to me. I was done spending silly money on the best pc, 2nd tier was good enough. VR came along, but even then it didn't matter as much. Discovered Sim racing, it was game on again. Any money for what i consider to be the best gaming experience I've ever had in over 40 years at it.

Thanks very much! And I appreciate that point, it's a little complicated because the testing was undertaken by Ross on a mid-range PC, but much of the capture and my own testing was done on higher performance PC's. Sadly Ross is away right now so I can't ask him for his specs, but I will try and get those for you when I can!
I guess my biggest question is, what headset is best for sim racing? I want to be able to play other things but primarily I'm on racing games. The more I read and watch, the more confused I get.
Nice video! However since it is not focused on sim racing, but pointed towards VR experience and immersion - I am surprised that Forza Horizon 5 was not in this list, why?!..o.0..

Why they just make Different Graphics Menu for VR ? I dont get it ... They didnt even had the time to make the VR graphics settings have different save file than FLat screen ... WTF ?
AC with mods is probably the most complete VR sim out there. The closest to and open world "driving sim" you can get. I don't know why Forza doesn't have it yet. Once BeamNG's VR gets optimize that will also be top tier.
Nothing about RFactor2? Although the title is an unoptimised crap shoot and requires a lot of fiddling to get it to work fairly well in VR! It has some great content and VR experiences. Not everyones cup of tea though, but worth a mention.
ACC is the best one for me. On my system it runs perfectly in VR with my Valve Index, I get over 120 FPS, and I can't actually play ACC on flat screen anymore. The lack of 3D depth really messes with my perception on where the apexes are so I am measurably worse if I'm not in VR.
Wrong Dirt Rally 2.0 wasnt made with VR in mind ... They add it later after a lot of pressure. Dirt Rally 1.0 was made with VR in mind ( thats why in VR looks way better)

@@TraxionGG Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. I have them all and am hoping to get into it some sim racing over xmas on my Quest 3 when I get it! :).
Excellent, main thing to remember is that everybody has a different preference when it comes to which game or sim is best. Work out what you enjoy the most, not what everyone else tells you is best... and have a blast!🔥
RF2??????
Would love to see Road Rash 3d in vr, Star Wars pod racer, Jet Moto or wreckfest!
I have tried all of these sims. Recently got rfactor2, and it trumps them all. Sadly the UI still feels like ass no matter what revamp it has gone through
I actually am watching this on my birthday for exactly that reason 😂
Gotta agree here, Dirt Rally 2 is INSANE in VR!
Great vid! I think you underrated F1 2022... Since I've hooked up my pc to my VR OQ2 that's all I been playing. I'm by far not the best but just love trying to keep up with other players online. And seeing all the battles other players have in VR it's so much fun! I do have ACC but it just doesn't feel there's as many players online 😅
Great piece of content. But it is so sad that I did not managed to get PC2 before it was pulled from all game stores recently... :/
Yeah I found it odd they didn't mention that while recommending it. That and no mention of rf2 made me think I was loosing my mind
I was pissed at that, I set an alarm to buy them all the day before they delisted because I wasn't at home when I read the news, and they delisted early on Steam. Like a full day earlier than their announced plans. I still have the game at least..
@@purplepurplesaurasne I just bought a code off a 3rd party reseller. Having lots of fun.
Rfactor 2 is the best sim experience in VR by far, for me. and i play in VR to all of this game (exept lfs)
I don't know how I managed it, but F1 22 runs silky smooth with a steady 80fps on my system (Ryzen 5600x, RTX3080) and a Quest 2.
Sorry you are wrong I guess I you too young to know that AC have computability with oculus from the release. Not from early access but from release
No RF2? For me with AMS2 the Best VR Experience
200% agree with you.
What did you mean by mid range pc? It would’ve been nice to include ur specs
btw, LFS was the first racing game to support VR.
Such a great game!
You do realise you can use a cable, it doesn’t have to be wireless.
@@chienforcer Even with a wire the quest 2 has compression artifacts.
@@kangjames2492 artifacts at times, but I have no lag and barely notice the compression artifacts
The hp reverb was blurry as with a tiny sweet spot. I had to return mine. Would not recommend one.
Live For Speed would have been awesome in VR if not for its abysmal 100Hz physics engine, it plainly doesn’t work in any VR headset because nothing runs at 100Hz exactly, and because of that, there’s always huge stuttering.
rf2 and DD wheel is the best vr experience ❤ then next is Iracing with buttkicker LFE plus VR❤
I've not gotten AMS2 but I have everything else and I 100% forgot about Live for Speed. I'm going to have to try to find that again. I was one that played it in the early 2000s and long forgot about it
AC has the option of stereoscopic mirrors in Content Manager
There's also a VR mod for the original AMS!
What are the chances I would watch this video on my birthday as I am waiting on my oculus 3 to come in the mail?
Hello, I'm wondering what recording tool you are using for capturing vr gameplay videos in such good quality. Can you tell me? I'm using OBS + Openvr Plugin but I'm not satisfied with it.
Hey! I used a mixture of OBS Studios and Nvidia Geforce capture depending on the game. It takes a bit of butchering to get each game to look okay, sometimes you need to re-scale the footage when you are editing it if it looks stretched. And I think there was the odd time where I had to use the steam VR viewer to try and capture correctly.
Basically it’s a bit of a pain, but you just need to experiment with the capture settings for each game, and make sure you have your bitrate high!
what about mods? A lot of the games you talked about have mods implementation. Mods add plenty of content...
Automobilista 2 as of Febuary 2024 is one of the best VR titles if not the best out there. AC also is one of the best.
There are also quite some tracks and differents cc"s karts in Automobilista 2
@@SHIZURAKU And do you get any nice face tanning from racing for a long time due to the heat?
HP G1 is a good start
@@Drnken229 Never heard of such a thing, but once you go VR in racing, you can't go back to flat.
Pls do a vr headset comparission. I want to buy vr but dont know wich one to choose
get what you can afford Tracking is less important in sim racing than in typical roomscale VR
Felt sick for hours after just a few minutes on a windy course 😂 (may have been to do with my underpowered GPU at the time)
i like city car driving tho cos its kinda open world, just driving around + you can install some mods
@@the_mpower oh I actually bought that, mainly for my 12yo daughter. Forgot it was in my library, I’ll need to check out mods for it! Thanks for reminding me 🙂
What are the controls like in VR for these games? Can use we use the VR wants to emulate steering or will it require a controller peripheral?
Hi Can you or someone on here please help me out or tell me where i can get quick answers? 1. When im in Vr my steering wheel angle does not match the screen, how to reset it? 2. how do I add traffic in schutoko track in content manager? 3. how do i escape or exit , when i press escape and hover over the windows and press the mouse button nothing happens. 4. Finally , how do i chose the car to be automatic or sequential ?
Why no rFactor2?
Works great in VR on Steam
You're doing something wrong, I've got it all turned up including pure on a Quest 2 and a 3080ti, solid 120fps with max res. using amd fsr
HI, can you say me if BeamNG is compatible on Vr mode? and over open world racing games like forza hrizon, the crew...
thanks for your answer (and sorry for my english)
Having found VR not to be as consumer friendly i wouldhave hoped after what, 3 generations? I find i'm spending more and more time setting it up rather than enjoying flying or racing...
LFS gave me such nostalgia feelings, like someone just mentioned your ex 20 years ago
Hopefully good nostalgia feelings
You know the Ford GT is a V6, right?
Isn't the only way to get Project Cars 2 to use a third party key seller since they de-listed it?
Can you play project cars 2 on Quest 2 controllers?
they look all the same except for dirt rally.
Doesn't VR have some more colorful and stylized games to offer yet?
Am watching this on my birthday. That intro was very odd for a moment.
At least my birthday wishes were not in vain!😂
Great summary. It would help if you could add your PC specs as you mention framerates being an issue
@@TraxionGG Hi, can you at least give us the specs on you pc?
Here you are 🙂:

I have never played a pc driving game on my Meta Quest. What controller do I need. Can I use Quest hand controllers?
I guess my biggest question is, what headset is best for sim racing? I want to be able to play other things but primarily I'm on racing games. The more I read and watch, the more confused I get.
Varjo ….
thats a really cool intro logo thing
Thanks!
Nice video! However since it is not focused on sim racing, but pointed towards VR experience and immersion - I am surprised that Forza Horizon 5 was not in this list, why?!..o.0..
What pc specs did you have running these games?
In Assetto do you get to hold the steering wheel and shift with your hands or is it with the joysticks?? I wanna know cause I might buy it could someone tell me please
Wreckfest as VR version would be great.
Are there any games that have VR support with police pursuits in them?
Really wish there was support for The Crew or Forza Horizon. I don't care too much for formal racing, I just want to drive around freely without speed laws and consequences 😂
ya'll forgetting the most realistic car simulator, beamNG with thousands of mods and the realest breaking physics😭 (it has a vr mode too)
It's incredible! If we were re-making this video again in 2024, Beam would likely be on there with it's official VR support 👌
how convenient that i own basically every game on this list (and nothing else really)
Why they just make Different Graphics Menu for VR ? I dont get it ... They didnt even had the time to make the VR graphics settings have different save file than FLat screen ... WTF ?
Damn, my old THR buddies kinda disappoint me there, not attempting rF2 at all😅
Props for knowing the correct plural for 'apex'.
Do you know what is the best setting to set for a HTC vive Pro 2 F122?
Jude Law "enemy at the gates" is youtuber?
AC with mods is probably the most complete VR sim out there. The closest to and open world "driving sim" you can get. I don't know why Forza doesn't have it yet. Once BeamNG's VR gets optimize that will also be top tier.
Nothing about RFactor2? Although the title is an unoptimised crap shoot and requires a lot of fiddling to get it to work fairly well in VR! It has some great content and VR experiences. Not everyones cup of tea though, but worth a mention.
witch of those games have a supra ?
You literally put this out the day after my birthday. I'm offended you didn't say belated.
Understandable heartbreak 😞
ACC is the best one for me. On my system it runs perfectly in VR with my Valve Index, I get over 120 FPS, and I can't actually play ACC on flat screen anymore. The lack of 3D depth really messes with my perception on where the apexes are so I am measurably worse if I'm not in VR.
Who needs a triple screen when you can immerse yourself into the game lol...im addicted to vr racing now
Wrong Dirt Rally 2.0 wasnt made with VR in mind ... They add it later after a lot of pressure. Dirt Rally 1.0 was made with VR in mind ( thats why in VR looks way better)
i emailed beamng about VR .would love to drive the cars i designed on AUTOMATION in vr . they said they have no plans for vr. silly right? we all should flood them with VR request. it would behoove of them to consider . at least before gta 6 comes out and makes it hard on em all. GTA6 WILL be the best VR game for years .just watch.
modded Assetto Corsa is the best I think..I always get dragged back to it. I love creating my own Championships. With mods you can create an F1 championship as well
