The reason Canadian tire doesn’t sell normal “everyday wear” clothes is they have an outlet called Marks work warehouse which is generally always within the vicinity of the Canadian tire, here in Vancouver BC we’ve got one in particular that has 3 floors the lowest floor houses a marks and next to it is the auto centre , the top 2 floors have everything else.

Canadian Tire is Canada and we don't ever say we are sorry for loving this store. This is Captain Canada's store. This store is as big as some malls so it should have everything. Not at all confusing for the Canadian mind.
Even as a Canadian, Canadian Tire can be kind of confusing. It’s like they put a bunch of different stores in a blender, and Canadian Tire is what came out.
I love going to Canadian Tire for like one silly thing, then wasting at least an hour looking at all the bins in they have all over (like with the flip-flops). Depending on what I find, depends on how much trouble I get into when my wife sees the bank statement. Lol
My wife does not seem to mind when I shop there. Yesterday for example, I bought a torque wrench. I had $66 in Triangle Rewards, the wrench was 50% off, and I earned like 20X Triangle Rewards on the purchase. So, the tool was basically free.
You can also buy snacks for a party or movie night. Lol. I watched some RUclipsrs do a chip taste test and the Frank brand that Canadian Tire sells was voted as one of the best. Haha

I can remember when I was quite young that our local Canadian Tire was essentially an auto centre with a huge hunting/fishing/camping section. I liked to scamper in and out of the display tents, and I was fascinated by the fishing waders 😄🇨🇦
Oh, also, I remember this really old Canadian Tire store in Ottawa... It was strange because it was so small and crammed full of stuff. The ceilings were really low, like maybe just 12', possibly less. There was an upstairs and a basement, with like residential stairs? How the staff moved anything in there at all, is beyond me. Anyway, they were closing down permanently, and I got a good quality 6 person, 2 room tent for a really really good price. It's lasted me decades!
@CherryCherry Five - I'm in Ottawa as well and I remember that Canadian Tire! I also have thought the little display tents would be perfect for a doll!

For a lot of smaller Canadian communities, C Tire fills the niche of a lot of separate specialty stores. In larger centres it’s often one-stop shopping and can save running around to various stores.

I work for CTC Corporate. And what many people do not realize is that, almost everything on the shelf in the stores go through extreme rigorous safety and quality standards (Now I know there are some things that don't fit the bill - we know, we are working on it all the time), but its' the first company that I know and compare to where my peers work that genuinely seriously care for the customer. I'm proud of Canadian Tire. Its' an icon of Canadian culture and recognized as part of us. Thank you for the fun video :)
If Canadian Tire made a scented candle that smelled like their stores, I would totally buy that! There's a smell to the stores that just relaxes me and makes me feel like everything will be ok; we got you. My aunt gave me a gift card for Canadian Tire for a wedding gift. My mother thought that was a terrible gift. I LOVED it!!!!!
I was really hoping you would talk about the love affair we have with Canadian Tire money. Some people have saved up the "currency" for years and even have it written into their wills!
Each Canadian Tires are different in the Canadian provinces. For example, the ones in Quebec have the few best Winter tires and salt rocks are high in demands during the snow season too.
When I was a child Canadian tire was primarily automotive parts and tires. My Dad owned an automotive tool manufacturing business and we spent many hours in an old Canadian tire where the floor was made of wood and you could see through the slats to the basement below. If my memory is correct my Dad sold some parts to Canadian Tire for a few years until they got big and sourced bigger suppliers. I remember when they started getting things like fishing gear and skates etc. Then suddenly they blew up and sold then tore down the old building and opened a bigger store with loads of other products - heading to what they are today.
Canadian Tire started as Hamilton Tire (Hamilton St. in Toronto) as merely automotive. However over the years they expanded the product base on whatever was an opportunity from Paper Dresses during the war to even now Milk at some locations.
I'm a Canadian, but I think Jason has a good point when he says it's all a sham because the tires aren't even Canadian! 🤣 I also think Jason should have modelled his new flip-flops, sun-glasses and Canadian tire bucket "hat". I'm sure he would have looked fabulous!

Work clothes and shoes sold in Canadian Tires are from their "Marks Work Warehouse" operations (385 stores). They purchased Mark's in 2001. Party City sold their Canadian operations to CT in 2019. CT also owns, Parts Source, Helly Hansen, Sportchek to name a few. No I am not employed by CT.
My friend called me today and say I’m going to CT, wanna come along…who would say no! Love CT! Jason needs to visit close to Christmas when it really is something! Take care!
At one point in the early 2000's, Canadian Tire DID launch a pilot program where some select stores carried limited groceries (mostly staples and frozen foods like milk, bread, butter, juice, eggs along with frozen pizzas, fries, Hungryman Dinners, etc). I guess the profit margin was not enough given the extra costs for cooler maintenance, shelf life, added cleaning protocols, etc along with the saturation of grocery stores in suburban settings sealed the outcome for the initiative but I thought it was brilliant..... Wife says to husband "We're out of milk." ...Husband is already starting the car before she can ask him to go out to buy some... "I'll be back in an hour or so!!!" :)
My dad spent more than 30 years as a mechanic for CT, at two different local stores. The items sold have changed a lot over time, but I don't think I ever bought a pair of ice skates anywhere else. They even had an exchange program where you could bring in your used skates and sell them on, and pick up a used pair that fit. It was a great way to save some money for growing kids' feet. My ultimate Canadian experience? My dad fixed Mr. Dressup's car when I was really young, so young I barely remember, and since I was waiting for my dad to finish up for the night with my mom and brother, I got an autograph.
@@JosephD would of been in Toronto Mr Dressup was an American originally from Maine who went on to become a Canadian icon mentored by Fred Rogers both were kid shows that mentored young minds
I have seen and family has bought clothes, shoes, boots, winter gear and even slippers at Canadian Tire. Just to let you know, when I clicked to watch a Canadian Tire ad came on.
They actually did lure you with with tires!!! And you bought a bunch of other things! So it works. Also, Jason with his bucket looked like the Canadian Tire version of a kid on Halloween with their plastic Jack-o-lantern picking up goodies! There is something relaxing about visiting a Canadian Tire. You get lost in your thoughts as you browse the aisle looking for stuff you don't know you need until you see it. It's just got everything for the a suburban lifestyle (things for the home (repairs, organization, furniture, some appliances, decoration, etc) things for the garden in summer and winter, things for playing around the house, things for outdoors like fishing, hunting, camping..., things for the car). That seems like a less confusing mix of items than having a grocery section in a store with clothing and car stuff like a Walmart...
I remember the Canadian Tire of many, many moons ago. An auto parts and tire store. Guys on roller skates behind the auto parts counter bringing you the part you needed. Other parts of the store lines with automotive accessories, sports equipment, hunting and fishing stuff. Now they are basically a department store selling just about everything but food.
They do sell emergency/camping food packs (dehydrated), and they sell pet food and bird feed. They also sell hunting/fishing clothes. I love their website for finding what I want, tells me if the item is in stock at my store and nearby stores and which aisle to find what I want.
Born and raised in London Ontario 60 years ago, the first Canadian Tire remember going into on Wharncliff Rd in the 70’s was two stories. The upstairs was mostly appliances. Some of the Firestone auto centres were the same , the show room was appliances instead of tires .
I go to Canadian Tire for car lights usually. Go online, find the right item for your car (you can search their database), and which number aisle it's in. If the item is locked up, ask staff or press the nearby call button.
In the early 70's Canadian Tire was the place to go to for well priced items such as hockey equipment, camping gear, and sporting goods. BTW Lowes bought out a large number of the Rona a number of years ago.
You should see the look on a European’s face when you tell them that you can buy socks, enter the lottery, and have your passport photo taken at the pharmacy
Canadian Tire doesn’t really have an equivalent in the United States. Walmart is the closest, but Canadian Tire seems much better than any Walmart. I think that Canadian Tire would do amazing in our country, I wonder how come they never expanded in the United States.
I was in Canada somewhat recently and checked out a Canadian Tire store (in Kanata, coincidentally about 10 minutes from the Canadian Tire Center (Centre)), and it felt like a Tractor Supply, Gander Mountain, Sears tool department, Dollar General/Family Dollar, Advance Auto/Auto Zone/Napa, and Sears Auto Center all rolled into one.
Fun and interesting video! Canadian Tire isn't my favourite store but I would miss it badly if I moved away from Canada. One big hardware/home improvement chain Jason didn't mention is Home Hardware.
When I was a kid, the range of products was much narrower, mostly car related stuff. My expectations grew as CT expanded. It was so gradual that I did not realize it until watching this video. Now, I am astonished that they have practically everything except groceries. You guys are right. CT has turned into an Amazon-like warehouse.
At one point, the Heron Rd location in Ottawa DID have groceries. The best price in that vicinity for 2% Milk. As a child I always equated CT with ice skates and winter boots. Spent a Christmas Eve in that parking lot moaning about the lack of snow on the pavement. Finally some flurries appeared and they didn't stop until quite a large deal of white stuff had fallen. I got the "blame" for wishing too hard for a White Christmas to the point that we got snowed in.
Canadian Tire started out with one tire store in Toronto 100 years ago. Over time they added auto parts, a service department, tools, hardware, camping gear, guns, sporting goods, small appliances, household goods, etc until they turned into a department store. At the same time they expanded by the franchise method to hundreds, or maybe thousands of stores around the country. When I first shopped there in the sixties they had auto parts, tires, tools, camping gear and that was about it. The thing about them was, they catered to the general public where other auto parts stores preferred to deal with garage mechanics and did not like to serve the do it yourselfer. I'm not sure when they expanded outside Ontario but now they are an institution across Canada.
Canadian Tire was practically on the brink of elimination . The rebrand saved this historic store. I feel like the kids born in the 70’s and 80’s really support Canadian Tire as they’re now adults with $$$
If only they would have asked a manager to see the tire stash, they don't keep much on the floor since its wasted real estate for other stuff to sell. That why they only display one of each, most of them will be store on the 2nd level of the car parts section of the garage, the amount of tire also vary by season since we alternate between winter and summer tires. Specially in tire change season they will have stack of tire in the garage itself. I would classify Canadian tire as the modern version of what use to be General stores its not ultra specialized but you can find pretty much everything you need for your daily life and still have plenty of choices.
My Candian Tire in North Bay, ON use to have a little grocery section like Milk, Eggs, Dairy stuff mostly. But now it's basically no more. This was I think just after 2010 but not sure
Canadian Tire did actually start as mainly a tire store. Brothers John William and Alfred Billes invested in and bought the Hamilton Tire and Garage company in Hamilton in 1922 and moved it to Toronto. They began the conversion to a retail and garage business at that point. The shop specialized in buying tires at a discount from manufacturers off season and resold them later in the year. In 1927 they incorporated under the name Canadian Tire Corporation Ltd. In the following 20 years they grew the business and added more locations. They added a full line of automotive products and then moved into adding home and garden supplies. At the time it was considered the most successful Canadian owned and operated franchise in the country's history as it expanded into a nationwide chain of stores.
Jason, you live in Buffalo (as do I) and you've never gone to the Canadian Tire right across the border in Fort Erie? I'm surprised. Before covid I used to go there every fall to buy winter washer fluid. Since the winters can get so cold way up north, the stuff they sell is good to -45 degrees celsius. And even the summer washer fluid seems to take care of the bugs better than the American stuff. And I do have a bunch of Canadian Tire money laying around!
I used to drive semi and I have spent hours trying to get bug guts off the windshield with various commercial products but found the best bug remover for the windshield was driving in a thunder storm. After a few minutes - a very clean windshield.
Amazing! 😂 Best line: “...but it’s so much more than a tire!” Couldn’t be more true and I think CTC can use that as a tag line 🔻! Also a good line: “...haven’t you ever needed a good bucket?” 😂 CT is truly a gem in Canada and has been part of my shopping experience my entire life. It’s my go-to place for everyday living. Literally - you need anything for your home, car, recreational hobby or outdoor anything - Canadian Tire is your place. Love this place! ♥️ 🔻
I am an American living outside of Calgary. When my sister came up to visit, Canadian Tire was her favorite store. My mom liked Princess Auto, you need to take him there next time! P.s. the Canadian Tire brand of snacks called Frank's are the best! The cheese curls are killer.
Canadian tire is fucking. Awesome. It's genuinely one of the last great retail experiences in my opinion. The super power of canadian tire is - think of something want, think of the price you're willing to pay, and boom canadian tire has it. I'll go to Canadian tire before opening the Amazon app any day of the week.
The camera waving around at all angles was making me ill, but I suppose that is Canadian too. What we lack in professional camera work, we make up for with enthusiasm. Love you guys!.
I love your videos and I am so glad you get to actually be together again. Canadian Tire started out as a tire and auto parts store in the 1920s and has aged into the wonderfully well-rounded store you visited. By selling a wide variety of items at reasonable prices, Canadian Tire provided a service to more rural and smaller urban areas where big box stores didn't really exist. It reminds me a lot of Ace Hardware in the USA. Also, fun side note, Canadian Tire does sell clothing under a different store name; they purchased Mark's Work Warehouse in 2002.
I like to go around Canadian Tire reading all the Franks items. Such a vast majority of items they make from a bag of chips to a dish sponge. I like reading all the jokes on the packaging. I also like the smell of the Canadian Tire by my house, not sure if they all smell the same. Also, yeah, they only have a small looking selection out, partially because tires are a large product and are often grouped in 4's, therefore to show off all the different brands and sizes, they have got to only display 1 or 2, you know. Usually you would have to ask for a whole set. You'll likely find stacks in the back I bet. Cheers!
Little fun fact, When I was younger, Canadian tire use to give out Canadian tire money with your change. Which you could use in the store to pay for things, BUT, here is the fun part for Jason, in my area, you could also use the CT money to go eat at, Wait for it! Swiss Chalet and Harveys.

Even as a Canadian, Canadian Tire can be kind of confusing. It’s like they put a bunch of different stores in a blender, and Canadian Tire is what came out.
I agree, especially the centre aisle bins. i asked where the gloves were and they were scattered all around the store. way too confusing.
The closest American thing to CT I can think of is Runnings, but they don't have the automotive stuff.
After watching the video a second time, that might be the best description of a Canadian Tire store.
LOL
After having watched Jim Gaffigan’s bit, my bucket list now includes buying a blender from Canadian Tire. And perhaps a bucket.
AHahaha
It’s where I bought my blender.
You can also buy snacks for a party or movie night. Lol. I watched some RUclipsrs do a chip taste test and the Frank brand that Canadian Tire sells was voted as one of the best. Haha
@@jennifermoisan9914 Frank brand cheese puffs are my favourite cheesies.
As a Brit who moved here recently, Canadian Tires is less confusing than London Drugs!
There comes a time in every American’s life that they feel forced to visit Canada, this is one of those times! I feel so compelled to hop in my car and drag my husband to “Canadian Tire”! That for the fun, as always looking forward to the next video. 👏

I can remember when I was quite young that our local Canadian Tire was essentially an auto centre with a huge hunting/fishing/camping section. I liked to scamper in and out of the display tents, and I was fascinated by the fishing waders 😄🇨🇦
Now the display tents are teeny-tiny, doll-sized. They're really cute though. It makes me want them.

I can confirm that we cannot buy bagged milk here.
I grew up in Quebec and thought it was weird when I moved out west and couldn't find it here.
When I was a kid, I remember going to CTC with my dad. It was an auto/hardware store back then. Over the years they added outdoor power, then sporting goods.
I've never seen a Canadian Tire with a big party section like that. That surprised me a bit.
Great content ! I enjoy both your personalities and fun videos :) Thank you, always a pleasure to watch !
Thank you Isabelle!
For a lot of smaller Canadian communities, C Tire fills the niche of a lot of separate specialty stores. In larger centres it’s often one-stop shopping and can save running around to various stores.
Yeah, it's so useful to have a CT in town. If I can get it at CT I don't have to buy it on Amazon.
If you're Canadian and have never been in a Target... pretend that you fell into a time warp and landed in Zellers. Target is exactly like what Zellers was, right down to the color of the overhead signs and the Cherokee brand clothing.
Canadian Tire is my favourite store.
Ok on food, they do have food, LOTS of food, (other then candy bars and such). its in the camp food section - Freeze dried/dehydrated meals for camping. Mountain house, wise company, and others. they also have jerkey and such... sadly, no pemmican anymore, they used to.
I bought that kit Kat coffee crisp for my sister this week when we're in Vancouver. So good. I never knew I needed wunderbar in my life
My husband is a hardware manager at a Canadian Tire. Canadian Tire had bought out Party City which is why you see Party City being sold at the stores now. Canada Tire is a way of life here for Canadians LOL
The CFL ball USED to be bigger. It was a Spalding J5V and it was about 2 cm greater in diameter. The CFL changed to the US standard I thing about 20 years ago
That's what I thought it was a while ago that they changed. But can't be sure.
Awesome thanks for the insight Mo!
You needed to show him Frank products with their puns like the cleaning products etc. it is the best part of Canadian Tire
the frank coffee line is good too!

Agreed! 😃 🙌
Yessssss!!!!!
Frank's has the best slogans ha ha
If Canadian Tire made a scented candle that smelled like their stores, I would totally buy that! There's a smell to the stores that just relaxes me and makes me feel like everything will be ok; we got you. My aunt gave me a gift card for Canadian Tire for a wedding gift. My mother thought that was a terrible gift. I LOVED it!!!!!
That’s amazing 😂.
Ironically, I never buy tires from Canadian Tire. 🤣🤣🤣
I was really hoping you would talk about the love affair we have with Canadian Tire money. Some people have saved up the "currency" for years and even have it written into their wills!
they removed the ct money and wont even take what I saved up now.
I remember a buy and sell ad that offered 50 cents on the CTC dollar money. Smart.
@@janetyeoman1544 I remember other stores accepting ct money here and ct was outraged hehehe
Each Canadian Tires are different in the Canadian provinces. For example, the ones in Quebec have the few best Winter tires and salt rocks are high in demands during the snow season too.
There is something so nostalgic about Canadian tire. The smell reminds me of childhood. Still love it. 🍁
Joseph is the type of cheerful friend everyone needs! 😃.
Canadian Tire started as Hamilton Tire (Hamilton St. in Toronto) as merely automotive. However over the years they expanded the product base on whatever was an opportunity from Paper Dresses during the war to even now Milk at some locations.
I love how Jason say's "Made in Canada" in a Canadian Tire store!
Thanks.. been waiting for this 🙌
Canada - we lure you in with Swiss Chalet and bacon then sell you a Canadian blender! Edited- typo
hahaha
I'm a Canadian, but I think Jason has a good point when he says it's all a sham because the tires aren't even Canadian! 🤣 I also think Jason should have modelled his new flip-flops, sun-glasses and Canadian tire bucket "hat". I'm sure he would have looked fabulous!
It’s the Frank branded goodies that’s does it for me . The comedy and writing skills a involved in the packaging 😂❤️
Also, please keep making these vids. Brings me joy 🙏🏻❤️
I love the frank brand.
I've worked for CanTire for almost 20 years, I've worn many a hat. Next year is it's 100th birthday, one of the longest running Canadian brands!
Amazing
Always fun watching you two guys…spent 20 years in memphis and back home in Ottawa; I loved hosting my Canadian family and friends visiting me in Memphis and the wonders they experienced as a tourist. I’ll be soon hosting my American friends in Ottawa this winter….holy crap…they’re won’t like our winters. LOL
Make friends with some Minnesotans. Depending on where you are in Canada the weather may not be any shock at all. My hometown is about the same latitude as Montreal and there\s a lot of Minnesota north of me.
The best description I have ever come up with is...sending your kid off to collage or university. You really can get almost everything need to set them on there way, One of my most favorite stores.
Take care!
This is cool great content!!!
I have been wanting to go to Canadian Tire for a long time! Thanks for this!!! Hello from Austin Texas.
Hello!
I member the locations in Ottawa Ontario, sold foods, even fresh eggs, milk and bread
In Boston, we had some Smarties candies.
That’s awesome. Where was that?
@@JosephD would of been in Toronto Mr Dressup was an American originally from Maine who went on to become a Canadian icon mentored by Fred Rogers both were kid shows that mentored young minds
I'm an American and was in a "Canadian Tire" several years ago in Winnipeg. It reminded me of the "Fleet Farm" stores we have in Minnesota.
Another great video you guys 🇨🇦🇺🇸👏 Really enjoyed watching Jason's reaction as he went through the aisles. It's nice to see another perspective.
I have seen and family has bought clothes, shoes, boots, winter gear and even slippers at Canadian Tire. Just to let you know, when I clicked to watch a Canadian Tire ad came on.
Too bad they don't have physical Canadian Tire Money anymore... Imagine Jason receiving a 10 cents paper bill !!
😂
Surely Joseph can scrounge up some Canadian Tire money
If you pay with cash or debit, you do receive real Canadian tire money.
I've still got some that I never used!! Perhaps we need to find a way to send it to Jason!
Great vlog. So much fun.
Amazing Canadian souvenirs! Never thought a bucket could be made so interesting. lol
Jason's voice is so chill.
Technically Canadian tire does have "Mark's" ... You see them quite often inside the store
Born and raised in London Ontario 60 years ago, the first Canadian Tire remember going into on Wharncliff Rd in the 70’s was two stories. The upstairs was mostly appliances. Some of the Firestone auto centres were the same , the show room was appliances instead of tires .
To me it looks like something took a Target, a Dicks Sporting, and a Cosco and put them all together.
Now all in one stop! 😂
LOL did Jason buy ..... A TiRE! haha...K no he didn't but still...thanks for enjoying our BEST store!
I never realized how strange Canadian Tire actually is from an outsider's perspective... lol
I make a list, then go online and find out which aisle everything is in. Makes it soooo much easier to find everything when you get there!
As an American, I've always wanted to visit a CT. This was very therapeutic. 😜🤣😂
You're welcome 😂
I was in Canada somewhat recently and checked out a Canadian Tire store (in Kanata, coincidentally about 10 minutes from the Canadian Tire Center (Centre)), and it felt like a Tractor Supply, Gander Mountain, Sears tool department, Dollar General/Family Dollar, Advance Auto/Auto Zone/Napa, and Sears Auto Center all rolled into one.
Holy rolled up goodness lol!
Fun and interesting video! Canadian Tire isn't my favourite store but I would miss it badly if I moved away from Canada. One big hardware/home improvement chain Jason didn't mention is Home Hardware.
We had friends come from Indiana, the first thing they wanted to see was Canadian Tire. It’s just part of the Canadian lifestyle.
They sell some snack food like soda and chips
I feel like the kids born in the 70’s and 80’s really support Canadian Tire as they’re now adults with $$$
They’re kinda like SuperWalmart, and in Minnesota we have Menards and Fleet Farm kinds like Canadian Tires
2:26: you should have taken him to one that has a Marks (work warehouse) attached / shop in shop 😂
Some Canadian humane societies accept donations of Canadian Tire money. They use it to gas up their trucks. Hint, hint! 💸
That’s awesome stuff right there .I appreciate you my American 🇺🇸 neighbor .
I hope you let Jason know that those are Canadian sunglasses, so he can wear them at night! Fun video guys!!

Best line: “...but it’s so much more than a tire!” Couldn’t be more true and I think CTC can use that as a tag line 🔻!
Also a good line: “...haven’t you ever needed a good bucket?” 😂

If you have zero expectations going into a C-Tire, you won`t be disappointed. Thanks for sharing!
I came here to say the same thing. I had to stop watching, it was making me sick 😵💫
Yup unwatchable
Cheers!
I missed showing him the Franks products!
"Frank loves getting all dressed up!" (on all-dressed chips) lol
Little fun fact, When I was younger, Canadian tire use to give out Canadian tire money with your change. Which you could use in the store to pay for things, BUT, here is the fun part for Jason, in my area, you could also use the CT money to go eat at, Wait for it! Swiss Chalet and Harveys.
