Thanks for your video, I have a 14 Accord Sport 159K with P0087 code, I replaced the high pressure pump without removing intake or replacing that high pressure fuel line without any problems I cleared the code and car is running fine. I saved $260 by ordering from Honda online instead of purchasing from from my local Honda dealership, just had to wait for delivery, It was worth the wait.
Just what I was looking for! The factory service bulletin calls for intake removal, timing the engine and replacement of all hard lines! I could understand for Honda just replacing it because for them the hard lines are Pennies on the dollar, but the fuel hard line sold by them for consumers is over $150, ridiculous! Thank you for simplifying the process and literally cutting the time of repair in half! 👍
You are very welcome. To be honest almost every manufacture requires replacing all metal fuel lines in the high pressure system that get disconnected but most of the time replacing them is not actually needed. I appreciate you watching.
Great video and Im trying to locate and understand how PCV and EGR valve works on this particular engine. Where are their hoses and in which direction vapors or fresh air is moving. At 2:30 you pull the PCV hose from the main air tube. In that hose fresh air is going toward the valve case and PCV valve or vapor is coming from the crankcase thru the PCV valve? Where is the EGR valve located on this 4 cyl Honda? Thank you for your time.
Thank you for the video. Headed to the shop to do this job on 2015 CRV 2.4 l. Just curious why do they want you to set the engine tdc? What is the purpose of that just for my knowledge?
Hi! My Honda accord also has this code and the vsa brake actuator malfunction code . It take a couple of seconds for the engine to turn over and I cannot accelerate normally in my vehicle , it took a minute and a half for it to go from 60km/hr to 100km/hr. 😅getting nervous
That is the problem with getting cheap parts is you do not know if the part is the problem or if you had a different problem. Sorry you are having trouble. Thanks for watching.
Whats up brother . I replaced my fuel pump pressure with an off market brand . My car runs but once it runs for over 100 miles per hour my car losses that horse power . I have code p0420 code and I also replaced the cat converter . What do you think I should do ?
I just did my fuel pump a week ago for the P0087 code but I was just randomly checking on maintenance on 9th gen accord for engine carbon cleaning and I read somebody comments that they didn’t even need to change the fuel pump. They just did a throttle cleaning and the P0087 clear without replacing the pump. They use CRC throttle cleaner. I wish I try that before I replace my fuel pump. I did mine about for around $400, $ 150 for parts(eBay). And the rest is labor. I prob got cheated on labor but whatever my car is fine now. Better than $2k the dealership quoted. Up to you try, cheapest option before you do anything more. Lots of RUclips video on how to do the cleaning for carbon deposit.
P0087 code does not have anything to do with carbon up valves. There is a sensor for high pressure fuel and if the fuel pressure is not where it should be then it sets the code. Thanks for watching.
I have the same problem, I replaced the pump already but my problem came back . What else should be done in this matter. I would greatly appreciate the comments
That is a bummer, sorry to hear. First question is what brand of fuel pump did you use? Second is how is the low pressure fuel system and fuel quality? If fuel quality is bad or low pressure system is not bringing adequate fuel to high pressure pump then it will not work properly. Thanks for watching.
I am not sure actually, I trust the process by following flow chart and once I have deemed the high pressure fuel pump failure I roll with it. Thank you for watching. If you have more questions hit me up on Instagram.
Could low oil level inadvertently trigger this code? I figure since the pump is driven by a cam, under acceleration with a lack of oil pressure could trigger the code due to actuators not operating properly leading to this condition? Have a CRV with same code and The engine is very low on oil.
No it shouldn't. This code is set by actual fuel rail pressure not being where it should be. Thanks for watching. Hit me up on Instagram if you have any further questions
@@NutsandBoltswithTone Thank you for the quick response Tone!!! I've come to this conclusion because hondas will sometime trigger a Rocker Arm Actuator DTC due to low oil level. So Im led to believe that if the actuators are not phasing the camshafts properly or "on time" I can imagine that the performance of the fuel pressure would lag behind if the car is calling for timing advance and the actuator unable to keep up or lag behind. I could be way off a few years of experience as general service technician. thank again. having a moral dilema thinking we are sellnig a pump as opposed to doing an oil change clearing the code and seeing what happens. howver I dont think fuel supply is something to send the customer off with just an oil change. maybe freeze data would tell more.
@@FreddieSodium the high pressure fuel pump runs off direct camshaft, not variable cam. The variable aspect of the camshaft has nothing to do with direct cam.
@@FreddieSodiumI’m my doubts about too. I got a Honda fit and I was driving with low oil and when I put new one started my problems. Now my car take long to get potency running and gave me smog in the first turn on by the mornings
Well first thing you have to make sure of is that the low pressure pump is working properly, if the low side pump does not bring proper fuel volume to the high pressure pump then the high pressure pump cannot work properly. Also the quality of the fuel has to be good. Thanks for watching.
Really late to this video, but would this be about the same process for a 2016 Honda Accord Sport? I don’t know what I’m doing but I don’t want to spend 1600 for a repair lol
I actually only look at the manufacture procedure as an overview and look to see what I really need to do. The whole job did not take super long even with filming for the video. Thank you for watching. I appreciate it.

Well if it's an external leak it will be very noticeable. The only other leak could be an injector leaking and that is a much different approach. Thanks for watching.

Because it is a high pressure fuel line. If the line does not mount back up exactly where it then it will be a leak. Every high pressure fuel line that gets disconnected is supposed to be replaced but we are not doing this much anymore.
