Was sitting here watching your video. I kept getting that code showing up in a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. I bought a brand new motor from Hyundai when I took the old high-pressure fuel pump off of it. I didn’t put that little roller back into the new motor didn’t realize I did that until I was watching your video thank you
Great insight. Mercedes 4.7 twin turbo motor are known to leak oil through camshaft positioning sensor. Oil goes into wire lines & csn reach ECU. Im not sure if its related to my p0087 code? Would u start w replacing fuel filter? I changed fuel rail pressure sensor to no avail. I'll try to get tools to measure pressure. TY
Thanks for the video. I have the dreaded p0087 code on a 2010 jk wrangler diesel 2.8. Code will only come on when the vehicle is under load and up inclines. Before I have a go at taking out the hpfp for inspection is there anything else I should test?
So will a bad connector wire to the fuel rail also cause your car to throw code p0087? Every time I move the wire my motor sputter and dies out. It also has a hard stared at times.
So basically I get this fault code under heavy acceleration. Black cloud of smoke comes from the back and the check engine light comes up. Under normal driving everything is fine until you press the gas a little bit more. Engine OM651
I got the code while driving to vegas, pulled over to get something to eat.. We got back in the car and the car started to misfire.. Mechanic came and said was a high-pressure fuel pump.. Degrees in Baker Ca was 113, and i had the a.c on. Got my car towed back home and paid well over a thousand dollars.. Waited 2 days, and now the check engine light is off, and the car is running normal.. my question is,do you think the heat had something to do with the car misfiring? And is it safe for me to drive now?
@@Bats10 good u shut it down before overheating engine. Usually overheating will cause an engine to feel weak, sputtering & Burst. In that same area my brother & id had burst something, but made down hill to Burbank. The car wasn't the same after that. Id get everything checked out just to be careful. The head gaskets was compromised.
Hoping you can assist me as I have been chasing gremlins in my OM646 (2006 e320) for a few months now and not sure what to do next. I have the low rail pressure code and progressively replaced pretty much the whole fuel path from the cheapest item to the most expensive. I have replaced: - Fuel Filter. - Fuel pressure sensor (Bosch) - Fuel pressure regulator (Bosch) - In tank fuel pump assembly - the whole thing with the hoses (Bosch) - New hoses (from filter to High Pressure Pump and return hose from pump). (OE MB) - and finally just today installed new rebuilt high pressure pump (Bosch) Car seems to drive better than it did before the HP pump replacement but still throws the low rail pressure code albeit not as soon as it used to. I still have my old fuel rail sensors but not the HP pump as I sent that core back. I plan to put my old sensors back and see if that makes a difference but thought I'd write to you first. Car has 340,000km and I have not removed the injectors yet. I'm really at a loss what to do next and could use your guidance. I had high hopes for the HP pump to finally solve the issue but was quite shocked when it didn't.
Usually, swapping out those components would have solved the issue; the only thing left is the cam lobe the HPFP rides on and the wiring. It may be best to ask in a Mercedes-Benz forum or mechanic who knows all the details on those models. There may be something manufacturer specific.
@@HVAC_Mechanicturns out it was the HPFP in the end but what threw a wrench in the works was the new fuel pressure regulator was bad. I put the old one back and in combination with all the other new components, everything was perfect.
prsche 3000 diesel 6 cylinder, I have the code p0087, but it doesn't start and I have no power supply to the injectors and they don't spray, what do you suggest? Thank you
hi,i have p0087-61 code on ford focus mk2.5 1.8 tdci and doesn t want to start anymore, could be the high presure pump if fuel goes to the injectors?or just the presure regulator?
My car vw folf mk6 2.0 tdi, has same code and random misfire and sometimes iget plug light flashing and then after couple seconds it stalls and after start it again it runs normally. Filter changed, injectors checked all good, pressure senaor changed, fuel pressure regulator changed, what could be the cause, fuel pump or hpfp?
I had a p0087 on my vw 2.0tdi, it was crank, no start. I changed the low pressure pump and it ran fine for 2k miles. No the fault code is back. This time the car starts but cuts out after about 10 seconds. I'm thinking it's now I stuck injector? I'm going to try the injector leak down test this weekend. Hopefully I can find the fault. I cant imagine the new vw low pressure pump isn't running properly. What do you think? I've changed the fuel pressure sensor and regulator last week but no difference. Thanks.
I've replaced everything except hpfp. Same problem except I can keep the engine running if above 1100 rpm. Fuel pressure meets requested pressure at 2.5k rpm and deviates as rpm drops until its 10 bar too low at 1100 rpm and stalls. My final steps are checking the ECU and/or the timing and hpfp.
I have p0087 and p0252 on Mercedes w212 e class 220 diesel. Changed fuel filter, checked the LPP on the tank and cleaned, still problem. Probably the HPFP, any of injectors or cam position foult. Smelling from exhaust is not normal which was never an issue before this error 😫
Weird af.. how would too much oil mess with fuel pressure being low smh the reason why I hate these new computerized cars. Never had any issues with old schools unless it's actually a real issue.
Hello everyone, I had a problem with the high pressure pump, it's a golf 6 2.0tdi 110hp. The pump was replaced, the entire system was cleaned of sawdust created by the pump, however, after driving for 10 km and restarting the car, the car starts shaking in reverse and emits white smoke. After about 10 minutes, the heater light also went out, and the diagnostics shows a fuel pressure low error. What could be the cause if anyone recognizes, and many thanks in advance
Came to find my engine light's reason but i saw many cases that Wolkwagen / audi diesel engine's P0087 cases. That looks like saw dust wasn't cleaned good enough. A mechanic that wrote down his fixing journey, used a metaphor Cleaning out fuel line system and fuelt tank for P0087 is like Changing human's heart whole blood line including blood at the same time. One sawdust causes what happened to your car engine.
Obviously not - bit of a sillly question. GO get it looked at. You're causing a danger to other road users putting diesel all over the road. And if it's petrol, you're going to set yourself alight.
Hy to everyone, to fix the problem is not related to the fuel pump... is related to the vacuum hoses, i have found the one vacuum hose lose near the engine pump and the solenoid hose was lose.... i tight them whit a zip tie, and the problem no more appears🫡, check the vacuum hose of it lose moves around whit ez... good luck to every body!😀

Do you need to purge the fuel line before you take off the fuel pump?
Thank you for this stellar overview.

working on a 2018 ford edge 2.0l ecoboost....this code p0087 can you tell me where the sensor is??
if i ran the car low on gas would that trigger drive train malfunction i have a 2015 bmw328i
Yes, no gas can trigger the code. I would clear it and see if it returns.

Anything I say is a guess, but that sounds like a fuel filter getting clogged or something in the tank clogging things up.

Can this P0087 code, be do to having the gas fuel level below half gas full on the gas tank? Anyone can reply and help?
To much oil in the engine Will also give this faul

Would low oil do the same?
