I’m supposedly terminally ill, they gave me twelve months to live 16 months ago. They took out my right kidney, but it then spread to my lungs and adrenal gland and spine. So obviously I have lived 4 months longer than expected. I’ve started cold showers this morning. I had a lot of pain before I went into the shower. My pain levels have reduced by half. The only major illness I've suffered so far is depression, which I guess doesn't compare to cancer, but I felt cold showers did help for a while - before I gave up on them because I started feeling better.

Cold showers work. Don’t be scared because you don’t have to go all the way cold right away. Start with your normal warm shower and wash up, then after you’re done with your business take a couple meditative deep breaths and slowly lower the temperature, focus on your breathing the whole time. Your unconditioned body will be afraid of what you’re doing to it so it will construct, making it harder for you to breathe. So that’s why you have to focus your mind 100% on slow deep breaths. You need to send your body the message that it is ok to open up your body to the cold
This is why you do the Wim Hig breathing technique before and you can hold you breath up to 4 minutes. You get hot and cold water does not get to you. Please inform yourself about it

My dad lives in Peru. When I went to his house he had no hot water, only ice cold water in the middle of winter. I was thinking he is being doing the Wim Hof method without knowing it. By the way he is the most relaxed person I know.

Absolutely Since 99,9%of people are scared of cold shower , they literally freeze before going in , fear makes your body weaker by producing cortisol, therefore you feel the cold even more and you freeze even more, it’s a vicious circle. Been doing the breathing and showers for two weeks and I am addicted. At first, the breathing didn't make much of a difference but yesterday for the first time I felt elated after the breathing and then the cold shower just elevated it. Now I am delving deeper into meditation techniques and trying to find out more about the Tummo meditation which I believe Wim's technique is somewhat based on. It has helped me with anxiety and melancholy. It feels like you are whole again and can challenge the day more energized and focused, not to mention happier. Sometimes I just put Wim's videos in the background as hearing him is just so positive and reassuring in this very combative confusing world.
I have been taking cold shower every morning. Normally i get up at 3:30 am and take cold shower then meditate then yoga. Total is 2 hrs 30 min. Feeling great. I learn it from my mom. She is 95 and her whole life is talking cold shower only. She is still living by herself going to market ,temple, cooking....also never drink soft drink.❤❤❤

Yes, he seems to be genuinely kind and willing to help people overcome anxiety, depression etc and get mentally stronger. Unfortunately, in those times we must take everything and everyone with, at least, some skeptisism as there are many money-hungry frauds out there who only want to take money from you. It gets harder and harder to see who had really good intentions and who's is just in for the money.
Im glad I came across his method last autumn and decided to try it. I didnt know, that I train myself to survive this winter In Ukraine we had very cold and stressful winter because of the bombing and electricity swith offs. Cold water and breath helped me to control my mind and dont let the stress dissolve me. I became more cold resistant, when we had electricity swith offs, It helped me be in tonus dispite the low temperatures. Now it is already a habit- to breath and take a cold shower. I stumbled upon this guy 2 weeks ago, and been taking a cold bath every morning since. Initially it was horrid so I decided to incorporate the breathing techniques before the bath. It has made a huge difference to my well-being. Never thought id enjoy the thought of a cold bath, let alone getting in the bath. Now I can't imagine taking a hot bath/shower. Its amazing! @AlexanderPärleros I am yet to try the “ice”. (Gradually working my way up to it). However even though my baths are getting colder and the duration I stay in there is getting longer. It’s almost as though I can feel my body temperature warming the water. Therefore I just run more cold water. It’s AMAZING! 😊 Is it normal to feel ones body temperature “warming” the water? I'm 57 and as of August 13 2020 i have been taking cold showers since Jan. 7 2020. I do 2 showers a day and the deep breathing exercises. I've done cold baths as well. It helps with metabolism and my over all fitness/flexibility. What a great resource!

I’d have a panic attack or a mini panic attack almost daily and even if I didn’t have attacks, I’d just be super anxious for god know what reason. Follow Wim Hofs methods, religiously if you want to live life. I wasn’t living before, I can proudly say I now am. It’s possible for everyone. I wish you the best, just know there’s no way of failing if you keep at it everyday. You will see results.

Yes is the same with fasting I do 38 hour water fast twice per week. Every time at the end of my eating window my body feels like its craving fasting. Weirdest thing. Have done this for 5 months now as part of appendix cancer self treatment regimen
His point about not feeling the cold is spot on. That's when I stop my cold showers - but for me it takes probably a couple of minutes before I no longer recognise it. That's when I know I'm done.
Do you start off freezing or warm then turn it into cold . It takes 5 minutes to rinse shampoo & shower gel properly so I'm thinking is 5 minutes if cold shower too much?
Cold showers daily for six years now, plus snow bath/sauna, river swimming in winter, ice dunk tank/sauna. I used to dread the harsh winters and had aches, depression etc. Stumbled on Wim two years after I'd discovered it naturally, on my own : ) like he did. It feels so, so good! Honestly, not just this, but all medical science should be taught in schools. Every high schooler should take first year med school curricula. This way, ALL people have basic training in medical science, nutrition. There’s been so much emphasis on other subjects, but what could be more important than maintaining good health? This including emotional health- emotions aren’t a luxury and with how much emotional well being stems into health, emotional first aid also should be taught.

At my gym we have a cold pool like 55 degree F ( 12 C). At first i could only dip my feet , then my legs and then my whole body. Once i was able to fully immersed myself up to my chin i once or twice stayed like 10 mn. I had never felt so calm before. It is totally transforming. And it last for several hours.
Took the first calm cold shower ever today, it worked, the cold became neutral after a minute breathing. But thinking “I’m gonna do it again tomorrow!” is killing me with anxiety! Damn, how come I’m this afraid of cold liquid.
be more present. the exercise is to lengthen duration of your lifetime and keep heart and vessels in perfect shape.. you need to do it for weeks, everyday. even tho some can go to ice after few days.
One of the tactic in personal development when you want to do something that your brain find all the reasons to procrastinate, you tell yourself that you'll do it "just for 30sec". (Like lying to yourself saying it will only be for a short time) that anxiety is gone And once you get started , and you can pursue your time target... I'm an open water swimmer and couldn't believe that I made it so late into the season...a few weeks ago swimming in 51 degree water and it turned into the most invigorating experience and hours after the swim my body felt so relaxed but yet alive! .. . I am nearing my 60th birthday and going to take Wim's challenge when he did 62 minutes for his 62th so going to swim for 60 minutes.

There was a severe respiratory virus going around in our area last year that was taking the average person 4 to 5 weeks to get over. I caught it and used the Wim Hof breathing excercises immediately. I was completely over it in three days. There's a new one this year, and I've not caught it at all. I do the excercises everyday. I'm not consistent with the cold showers. I scream loudly when I take them. Lol

I am doing WIms breathing exercise from last 3 days and found after doing it my pulse goes 10 bits down. From Yday I started it doing in morning and as well as before sleeping. my face has got a new glow and feel less stressed. My need for afternoon nap is gone. I feel fresh through out the day. I live near an Alpine Mountain river system and it is well known that "jumping in" really makes you feel great afterwards for quite a while. I just discovered Wim Hoff and the way he explains the physical science behind a cold shower makes a ton of sense. Also the breathing will help you get out of a panic attack if you feel it coming. I did this for the second time after working out at the gym. For many hours I felt high on endorphins. It's was amazing. you end up smiling and being happy for no reason.
Summary: Wake up with a deep breath. Have a warm shower* and finish with a 2-5 mins cold shower. Do some exercise. For discussion on the reasons behind, the video is very interesting. *Warm shower unnecessary after training.
I’ve come to prefer getting straight into steam room after workout for as long as I can take (30 min), then finish with a long cold shower. Highly recommend!
KamiCB actually muscle- protein synthesis is hindered by cold water cuz it reduces inflammation which in some cases with medical conditions is wanted but for this process inflammation is needed .If you want your body to be effective in repairing muscles after gym sessions you should skip the cold shower after and maybe do it before working out
Amazing to see Wim Hoff with a jaw harp. About a year ago (before I found his method) I fell in love with its sound ordered it a started to learn how to play it. I'll tell you one thing. After about 15 minutes of playing I started to feel super happy. I had no clue. I thought it was only the sound. But soon I realised it's the breathing I did while playing it. Love it to bits. And love and big respect to Mr. Hof. You are a star!!! 💗

Been doing the breathing followed by cold showers every day for going on two months,although not necessaarily in the order that Hoff suggests. I am 72 & strenuously stretch & exercise before doing breathing,followed by:first hot shower,washing hair & body then 5 min. coldest water . Comfort level in cold shower varies from day to day.... I am experiencing some obvious benefits,although I still can't fly...
I tried the breathing exercises followed by the cold shower and the cold shower induced an asthma attack in me (I have mild asthma). Not sure what to make of this.
@@gracegrace1036 probably a coincidence or just stress on the respiratory system. I don't think the cold shower caused it per se. Try doing it slowly, progressively next time.
Two cold baths a day are really helping my inflammation. I feel so much better when relaxing into the cold now. It's merciless and objective, and everything else becomes irrelevant while you're in the cold. I've started to feel the shock far less and look forward to each one.
This a great technique! But here is another one: "When hands are busy, mind is resting" Which means if you want to greatly reduce stress and anxiety (probably even depression) go work, do something everyday for about 4 to 5 hours, keep your hands and body busy and your mind will rest.

Cold showers work. Don’t be scared because you don’t have to go all the way cold right away. Start with your normal warm shower and wash up, then after you’re done with your business take a couple meditative deep breaths and slowly lower the temperature, focus on your breathing the whole time. Your unconditioned body will be afraid of what you’re doing to it so it will construct, making it harder for you to breathe. So that’s why you have to focus your mind 100% on slow deep breaths. You need to send your body the message that it is ok to open up your body to the cold

Been doing the breathing and showers for two weeks and I am addicted. At first, the breathing didn't make much of a difference but yesterday for the first time I felt elated after the breathing and then the cold shower just elevated it. Now I am delving deeper into meditation techniques and trying to find out more about the Tummo meditation which I believe Wim's technique is somewhat based on. It has helped me with anxiety and melancholy. It feels like you are whole again and can challenge the day more energized and focused, not to mention happier. Sometimes I just put Wim's videos in the background as hearing him is just so positive and reassuring in this very combative confusing world.

I have been taking cold shower every morning. Normally i get up at 3:30 am and take cold shower then meditate then yoga. Total is 2 hrs 30 min. Feeling great. I learn it from my mom. She is 95 and her whole life is talking cold shower only. She is still living by herself going to market ,temple, cooking....also never drink soft drink.❤❤❤

Yes, he seems to be genuinely kind and willing to help people overcome anxiety, depression etc and get mentally stronger. Unfortunately, in those times we must take everything and everyone with, at least, some skeptisism as there are many money-hungry frauds out there who only want to take money from you. It gets harder and harder to see who had really good intentions and who's is just in for the money.
Im glad I came across his method last autumn and decided to try it. I didnt know, that I train myself to survive this winter In Ukraine we had very cold and stressful winter because of the bombing and electricity swith offs. Cold water and breath helped me to control my mind and dont let the stress dissolve me. I became more cold resistant, when we had electricity swith offs, It helped me be in tonus dispite the low temperatures. Now it is already a habit- to breath and take a cold shower. I stumbled upon this guy 2 weeks ago, and been taking a cold bath every morning since. Initially it was horrid so I decided to incorporate the breathing techniques before the bath.
It has made a huge difference to my well-being.
Never thought id enjoy the thought of a cold bath, let alone getting in the bath.
Now I can't imagine taking a hot bath/shower. Its amazing! Even my skin is softer than its ever been.

I'm 57 and as of August 13 2020 i have been taking cold showers since Jan. 7 2020. I do 2 showers a day and the deep breathing exercises. I've done cold baths as well. It helps with metabolism and my over all fitness/flexibility. What a great resource!

I’d have a panic attack or a mini panic attack almost daily and even if I didn’t have attacks, I’d just be super anxious for god know what reason. Follow Wim Hofs methods, religiously if you want to live life. I wasn’t living before, I can proudly say I now am. It’s possible for everyone. I wish you the best, just know there’s no way of failing if you keep at it everyday. You will see results.

Cold showers daily for six years now, plus snow bath/sauna, river swimming in winter, ice dunk tank/sauna.
I used to dread the harsh winters and had aches, depression etc. Stumbled on Wim two years after I'd discovered it naturally, on my own : ) like he did. It feels so, so good!

Honestly, not just this, but all medical science should be taught in schools. Every high schooler should take first year med school curricula. This way, ALL people have basic training in medical science, nutrition. There’s been so much emphasis on other subjects, but what could be more important than maintaining good health? This including emotional health- emotions aren’t a luxury and with how much emotional well being stems into health, emotional first aid also should be taught.

I've being doing his breathing exercises every morning along with cold showers. I focus my mind and repeat without stopping my positive affirmations during the shower and that helps me a lot to not freak out and actually enjoy the shower. I go cold shower all the way, no hot water at all.

I see a dessert plant, sadly Mexican desserts are being devastated by this over explotation of our fauna because the world wants to 'save water'.
At my gym we have a cold pool like 55 degree F ( 12 C). At first i could only dip my feet , then my legs and then my whole body. Once i was able to fully immersed myself up to my chin i once or twice stayed like 10 mn. I had never felt so calm before. It is totally transforming. And it last for several hours.
Took the first calm cold shower ever today, it worked, the cold became neutral after a minute breathing. But thinking “I’m gonna do it again tomorrow!” is killing me with anxiety! Damn, how come I’m this afraid of cold liquid.
it is good to be anxious... is an emotion. you can let your emotions flow like water down your face.. let them go.
be more present. the exercise is to lengthen duration of your lifetime and keep heart and vessels in perfect shape.. you need to do it for weeks, everyday. even tho some can go to ice after few days.

I'm an open water swimmer and couldn't believe that I made it so late into the season...a few weeks ago swimming in 51 degree water and it turned into the most invigorating experience and hours after the swim my body felt so relaxed but yet alive! .. . There was a severe respiratory virus going around in our area last year that was taking the average person 4 to 5 weeks to get over. I caught it and used the Wim Hof breathing excercises immediately. I was completely over it in three days. There's a new one this year, and I've not caught it at all. I do the excercises everyday. I'm not consistent with the cold showers. I scream loudly when I take them. Lol

I live near an Alpine Mountain river system and it is well known that "jumping in" really makes you feel great afterwards for quite a while. I just discovered Wim Hoff and the way he explains the physical science behind a cold shower makes a ton of sense.
Also the breathing will help you get out of a panic attack if you feel it coming. Tried it for the first time and was shocked. Can't wait to be 30 days in. He's a super nice guy.
I do the warm water and finished slowly to cold water I do the breathing too. Rare that I get sick. My Faith plays a huge role.
When you first go into an unheated pool or the ocean, it’s always cold. Then after a minute you get used to it. A cold shower is no different.

Been doing the breathing exercises and cold showers for 5 months now....the first thing I noticed was my stress levels and anxiety quickly became minimum!,felt in general happier and more peaceful.i also suffered with tennis elbow for more or less 6month before I started the whm,within a month it eased so much ,and now its totally gone!,my skin is glowing, my hair in much better condition, I will never look back! Although I yet have to take the plunge in a ice bath yet😀🤞

I did this for the second time after working out at the gym. For many hours I felt high on endorphins. It's was amazing. you end up smiling and being happy for no reason.
Summary: Wake up with a deep breath. Have a warm shower* and finish with a 2-5 mins cold shower. Do some exercise.

I’ve come to prefer getting straight into steam room after workout for as long as I can take (30 min), then finish with a long cold shower. Highly recommend!

KamiCB actually muscle- protein synthesis is hindered by cold water cuz it reduces inflammation which in some cases with medical conditions is wanted but for this process inflammation is needed .If you want your body to be effective in repairing muscles after gym sessions you should skip the cold shower after and maybe do it before working out
Amazing to see Wim Hoff with a jaw harp. About a year ago (before I found his method) I fell in love with its sound ordered it a started to learn how to play it.
I'll tell you one thing. After about 15 minutes of playing I started to feel super happy. I had no clue. I thought it was only the sound. But soon I realised it's the breathing I did while playing it.

He is Dutch and I thought the expression was: " A joint every day keeps the prozac away ! " ;-) Now without joking: it is known for thousands of years that the breath is very important and neuroscience is slowly (re-)discovering that we create our own reality. Been doing the breathing followed by cold showers every day for going on two months,although not necessaarily in the order that Hoff suggests. I am 72 & strenuously stretch & exercise before doing breathing,followed by:first hot shower,washing hair & body then 5 min. coldest water . Comfort level in cold shower varies from day to day.... I am experiencing some obvious benefits,although I still can't fly...
I tried the breathing exercises followed by the cold shower and the cold shower induced an asthma attack in me (I have mild asthma). Not sure what to make of this.
@@gracegrace1036 probably a coincidence or just stress on the respiratory system. I don't think the cold shower caused it per se. Try doing it slowly, progressively next time.

Two cold baths a day are really helping my inflammation. I feel so much better when relaxing into the cold now. It's merciless and objective, and everything else becomes irrelevant while you're in the cold. I've started to feel the shock far less and look forward to each one.

I love how Whim Hoff simplifies these exercises. For the first time I did 2mins of breath hold during the breathing.
This a great technique! But here is another one: "When hands are busy, mind is resting" Which means if you want to greatly reduce stress and anxiety (probably even depression) go work, do something everyday for about 4 to 5 hours, keep your hands and body busy and your mind will rest.
That is some bullshit the people who are laughing at us doing nothing other than manipulating social engineering for an hour or two a day, the rest they are drinking champagne and screwing and taking too quality drugs.

Correction, when you're busy with something you LOVE doing, then you're mind quiets down. When you're studying some boring stuff for example, your mind surely wanders like a monkey after a few minutes
Cold showers reduce heart rate which reduces stress which brings health. Start 2 minutes. Increase to 5 then 10 minutes. Trains the mind.
How long should I spend in the cold shower for this to take affect ?
On my third cold shower this week and the goal is 5 🥶 First one shocked me pretty bad but 2-3 were better.
