When I first bought my bronco I pulled the thermostat out and I had brown sludge in the manifold. So checking the coolant is a good thing to check occasionally to make sure you have good coolant flowing through your system. If coolant isn’t flowing you will have overheating problems.
Remember, the coolant system is pressurized, so “burping” the radiator is an important step in keeping your coolant flowing.

    Hey Nash,
    2 things,
1st, you missed your chance to come Bronc it up with us in Puerto Rico but good news we are starting a new adventure in Kodiak Alaska. C’mon up and I’ll buy some stuff to install and we’ll have a blast here at Coast Guard Base Kodiak.
2nd, I recently installed a heater system and was looking at your video on burping the coolant system. My question is, do I need to burp my system? I have an external reservoir that I didn’t see on yours. Doesn’t that essentially burp the system all the time??
Thanks for the tips, tricks, and videos. Love your page.

My ticking was a loose rocker and a header gasket leak. Not sure why it would shut off at 180?

@@vincentmayer8511 Do you have a temp switch on your intake manifold? Some fords after 68 (im a mustang guy but I assume they did this on broncs) have a temp switch. When it reaches a certain temp its designed to advance the timing. Youd see a little vacuum T on the intake manifold. Im wondering if something is going on there with a vacuum leak. Maybe it gets up to temp and then a leak or problem with the distributor kills the engine.
