Just finished the movie and really enjoyed it. I've always loved when Kurosawa makes more intimate movies (Ikiru is my favorite movie of all time). Also, this is a really good video essay! good stuff
I love Kurosawa, he is by far my favorite director. The way his films embrace the ambivalence of human existence without being completly cynical and nihilistic is just as amazing as his stunning mastery of visual storytelling. Also I've had "One Wonderful Sunday" sitting on my shelf for quite some time and am really looking forward to watching it now. Great video as always!

I say this in the nicest way possible. I think these "heart warming" movies are distractions of the difficult things we have to overcome in order to become what we are meat to be. I think we ought to be not content with what we are currently. We shouldn't compare to people that are less fortunate than us, and to think that we are fortunate to be who we are today. Instead, I think we should always strive to become a better version of ourselves. Life is hard for most people and life isn't fair for most people the only thing we have is our will to power.
