My '04 Honda Accord just turned 269k yesterday and it is still smooth as butter at idle and when I'm on the freeway going 60mph and I want power I drop it in third gear and I'm doing 80mph in a heartbeat. I move it into 5th and it's doing 80mph @ 3k rpms and it's the K24A 4cyl engine and the 5sp manual trans. It still runs and drives like it's brand new with all the accessories working no leaks in the sunroof all original only oil, breaks, tires, batteries, and other fluid replacements. The car is solid as a tank and averages 25 mpg all day long, I recommend the honda as long as it's before 2023, those are crap as far as I'm concerned. Thanks again Scotty, I so love watching all your videos and I'm a better DIY'er because of you.😁

If you drive any vehicle hard all the time you can't really complain about poor mpg and things breaking early and often. My little car, a Chevy mind you, is 11 years and 85,000 miles old. I do push it hard occasionally just for fun, especially in the curves. But mostly I drive conservatively, resulting in 40+ mpg and zero repairs. Even the brakes and AC are as yet untouched. Routine maintenance is a MUST. Rotating tires at each 5k oil change, I'll get 60k out of 40k tires before they are done. I have proven that the way most people drive and neglect their vehicles are the main reasons failure rates are so high.

GDI sucks it doesn't matter if it is a 4 or 6 banger. GDI engine suffer an unusual amount of carbon build up because the gasoline doesn't pass over the valves. Instead the gasoline is squirted directly into the chamber and the carbon builds up much faster on the valves and then you gotta have a major maintenance done to clean it up

If you want to buy a vehicle that is used for under $40k, you can just get a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban LT 4x4 eight-passenger SUV with the 5.3 L V8 engine and the six-speed automatic transmission. It has cylinder deactivation, which is AFM (active fuel management), which turns off half the cylinders to save fuel. The fairly older, 2011 Chevrolet Suburban will still be more reliable than the newer, 2013 Dodge Durango with the 5.7 L HEMI V8 engine, which has a Multiple Displacement System (MDS), another word for cylinder deactivation. In addition, these Suburban's are excellent for camping, as well as for road trips, especially the ones that have a higher odometer reading, because they are well known to last for a really long time. Finally, if you can afford to buy a $40k or less vehicle, do not purchase any turds or anything that is unreliable and not in good condition, as well as if the vehicle is salvaged or flooded. Thank you very much.

They just throw parts on I didn't need and hope it fixes it - new spark plugs, Fuel injector O-ring kit, new value cover gasket (already had a new one on, less than a year but this one "newer") Gas cleaner, Throttle cleaner, MAF cleaner (that's less than a year old) and told me to switch to different gas and higher octane than 87. Be aware that even if you love the car and want to keep it, dealer may guarantee the buy price but they do not guarantee financing. So if you have a leased car and go over miles and would rather buy the car be sure to have cash money lined up. Because they will gladly take the car back and charge you for over mileage even if that amount is more than the buy it price. Then you are out all the money and have no car. 🦈🦈
