    As Rick Perez stated the 4.0 is normally mated to the 42RE but when viewing this video, it stated it called for the AWD (when the first Grand Cherokee was introduced!) NOTE: My Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo I6 4.0 was built in February, 1993

    When adjusting the bands and he says to turn the adjusting nut 3 or 4 turns, does that mean 3-4 complete rotations of the nut or just 3-4 turns of your wrist? Does my question make sense to anyone? Please let me know if someone understands me. Thanks

    I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 Hoping I can find someone who is very knowledgeable about this vehicle's transmission, transfer case, front and rear differentials, etc.. For starters: How can I find out what "Exact" transmission I have in this Jeep? What is the best trans fluid & type to use as this trans has over 200k on it?

    • @pezdogz83
      @pezdogz83 3 года назад +1

      The best trans fluid is normally ATF + 4

      The 4.0 is normally mated to the 42RE.

      Use mopar fluid.

      @@AceAgallah I was told by Scotty Kilmore (YT channel) the best thing to do on these Trans with over so many miles that don't have burnt fluid, ect is to use the existing fluid and a qt of Lucas Trans fix. Note: my jeep did shift normal but didn't have any clue when fluid/filter was changed last. So I did the change by screening the old stuff which still looked good with no shavings either in it and replaced filter & 1 qt transmission fix topping it off. So far working awesome.

      @@pezdogz83 How can I tell the difference between the AW4 transmission to the 42RE? As stated on this video the 42RE replaced the AW4 after the Grand Cherokee was introduced. So my Grand Cherokee was manufactured in early February of 1993. Wish I could find a site or channel strictly on the earlier model Grand Cherokees that give so much more info about them!

    Unfortunately I can't do the pressure tests, not because I don't have pressure gauges..... I don't have a yellow hard hat.

      honestly might be cheaper to find a mopar reman and just stick that in there. most shops do not work on them because they are too simple, not enough billable hours for the shop
