17. EXTRAORDINARY- Narrowboat Reflecting on the canal (OUR WORLD UPSIDE DOWN)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 сен 2024
- We've been 'reflecting' on the canal during Lockdown. Slowing right down has let us observe so many new things. Our world has turned upside down and Annamarie made this stunning piece of video art to reflect that. So, please note, this is not a cruising video or a vlog, this is an artistic response- an artwork.

I was so nervous putting this lovely little artwork on our channel and thought for a moment that it should go on my art by Annamarie channel. In the end I wanted to share it with you all because I think it is beautiful and so many of you have commented about loving our vlogs because they help you take a step away from your current situation. So, while this is not an actual vlog, or a cruising video, I hope you enjoy it as an artwork.
Having moved from Hampshire to The USA I miss that bird song and the country walks in the evenings. Lovely video. Thanks!
Takes us out of our world while making us look at the world differently and shows us a beautiful side to the world. That’s the true definition of art!
Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you. Deb from Oz
Hi girls what is the difference of a long boat a narrow boat and barge to me they are all canal ( cut ) vessels sorry I’m ignorant
Very lovely❤❤
It is an amazing leap when an artist can get us to open our eyes and look at ordinary things in an extraordinary different way. Quite sublime.
What a lovely thing to say. thanks
@@TheNarrowboatExperience Martin is so, so right. In our "Blinkered world" we often miss amazing things like this. Thanks for your time and effort to put this one together, and in Welsh, one word sums it up.. Bendigedig!!
Annamarie has the best eye for these sorts of things. There's amazing things all around us when we can make the space in our minds to see them. Fab.
This has to be one of your best ever, truly a pleasure to watch, absolutely mesmerising.
So glad you liked it, and what a compliment to say it was mesmerising. Thanks that means a lot to me.
Wow! Tricking the brain in almost every shot. Sometimes it’s only the fluff on the water, the water movement, or the bugs finally showing what’s up and what’s down. Must have been such fun to create! Gold star for you🌟
I love how this time of confinement has brought out people’s creativity. This video is a stunning example! Just lovely!
It's like a piece in a museum of modern art, but about something nice. Great job.
That was a nice way to reflect on my day. I sat on my porch swing and watched it outdoors.
Annamarie, I think this was more than artwork. It was therapy.
And it was beautiful.
Breathtaking! You have taken on the task of teaching us to "see" instead of just looking. Those of us lucky enough to go through life 'seeing" have a richer life. This dreadful pandemic has made many of us aware there is something else beyond simply consuming "things". Perhaps our lives will change for the better? Do we really want to go back to what was "normal"? Whatever we do, Mother Nature will decide and we will go along for the ride. It's going to be a bumpy ride and longer than we imagine, but a little narrowboat philosophy would help things along.

The eye of an artist is a wondrous thing.
Simply stunning, this is true art. The upside down ducks were a bit mind bending. It was nice to be shocked out of the complacent way we view the world.
I agree with an earlier poster that this deserves an award.
After 5 weeks of solitary self-isolation, my head was not in a good place today. Just want to say 'thank you!'; feel much better after this.
Thank you for your very clever and beautiful photography, well done!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it. As a photographer, I think the canals offer something special. If we change the way we look at things, then the things we look at change.
I really liked this. I particularly enjoyed watching all the little water bugs skittering over the surface of the water. Thanks for the nature break!
Just lovely.... I'm sure t this is why boaters boat! Really enjoyed the angles and the birdsong. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Beautiful. Like watercolors..of course they are....
Absolutely beautiful. Those times when you can hear nature relax and sigh contentedly. Thank you.
So nice when one can see the best part of life in the worst of circumtances
Just beautiful. I love all of the canal's vivid life portrayed through sight and sound.
What a unique way to look at everyday things. Perhaps an invitation to reflect on ourselves and imagine what can be.
Know Marc chagals " Le bateau"? It was hung upside down for a month, before someone discovered that the signature was in the upper left corner instead of the lower right. Chagal wasn't pleased!
This was in one word b-r-I-l-l-I-a-n-t. Pure art. Concept, execution, filming, birdsong, just perfect. Balsam for the soul and the senses. Congratulations!
Loved it... Especially the ducks.... Thanks for taking the risk and helping us see things from a new perspective!
Absolutely brilliant! I love using reflections. Thanks Alan xxx
This is by far my favorite narrow boat video bar none! Well done 👍🏻 WOW!
Disconcerting for just a moment, then difficult to imagine the reality of up-side-down for another moment, but totally enjoyable, unique and quite boldly creative to share. Thank you Annamarie.
This vlog deserves an award of some kind. Enchanting!
Quite amazing. Love the birdsong in the background. Thank you
That was so tranquil.....stay safe.....thanks for sharing
It’s times like this that make you search harder for ways to engage and delight your audience. You are truly amazing, loved it, thank you 😊
the images are so clear, almost like a camera obscura...thank you Annamarie. Excellent videography.
Stellar ... "Stay Safe Shelter On"
Thank you for this visual and auditory feast.
Watching this, I ended up being completely lost, head upside down. One of your finest, 👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👌🏼👌🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
Wow, Annamarie! That was beautiful. I loved the colours - especially the pink sky. I think one of the memories of this strange time will be bird song.
Very nice. You can see the eye of an artist here.
Two words . Wonderful -- Magical . 👍🚐
Very innovative, take time to reflect on what is really important & what is fleeting.
Thank you for posting.
You two lovely ladies bring a smile every time and I thank you for it. Rob xx
I JUST LOVED THAT. Thanks girls.
Brilliant in so many ways! Only an artist could have seen this world as worthy of sharing; we are better for it. The bird song was so prominent. Shows me what sounds we miss bc of "civilization". Kind of like how many billions of stars there are when away from light pollution. Thanks for adding so profoundly to my day. 💕
Another amazing piece of artwork by Anna, specially like the bridge, that would make an amazing oil painting
Returned, to wonder, to see the sky as if though a child's kaleidoscopic eye-still magical.
Thank you for sharing, much appreciated.
Amazing! This made me remember visiting a camera obscura.
Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing this. 💕
I’m sure I’m not the first to say how Australian of you... I did enjoy this video a lot. Thank you for sharing you down under.
Total Bliss

Reflections. This just confirms your amazing artistic talent. Please don't hold back and post more as and when the moments arise. Regards to all four of you and stay safe. XXXX
A beautiful vlog and so relaxing and refreshing. Thanks.
Reminds me of our daughter's main A level piece of art "A Journey of Reflections".. Stay safe and post what you can.
Beautiful...by the end the reflections became my new normal!! Gives me hope that as humans we can adapt as long as we find wonder and love xx
Your best vlog yet. Original content for narrowboat channels. Well done
Fabulous video ladies, you've shown in beautiful detail what wonders you can see when you take the time to look at the world from a different perspective. Something I've done ever since I was a small boy dangling upside down from the branches of trees or getting right down to ground level for a Bugs eye view. Too old now to be dangling from trees but I can still manage the lying down these days no problem. 🤣 Observation and appreciation are food for the soul, sad that people today just don't take the time to try. Keep safe, I'll be looking forward to the next water trip adventure. 👌
Now that was very enjoyable. Beautifully done!
Great photography! Love the mirrored scenes!
Very clever, we all need to reflect more !! Well done .
Yes! Thank you!
Also you should paint the birds with their reflections. Beautiful
This was a great idea, thoroughly enjoyed all of the reflections.
Hiya. No need for nerves, this is what canal living is all about. And, for me, lol, that upside-down duck was a true 'Gotcha' moment! Like, whaaaat???, when it stuck its beak in and the 'sky' rippled. Loved it! So, yes, more please. Stay safe. All the best to you.
Loved that duck moment too
An absolutely amazingly gorgeous and beautiful vlog!
I thought that the Moorhen would make a most incredible picture!
Thank you sooo much for sharing!
All love and best wishes to you 4, Claire and Sally the older Goldie, Berlin ✌👍👍❤❤❤❤
Lovely relaxing video. Thanks for putting it up. 👍👍😎
Amazing may your artwork continue
Such a lovely video. So peaceful. The scenes with the ducks and heron were captivating. The mirror images really stood out in those especially. The birds reflected head and necks, coming together, looked like a sideways ❤️.
It's alway fun to mess around with reflections and our perceptions of the image. Amazing and beautiful footage. Its usually so rare for the waters to be this calm. Thank you for sharing.
Yes! Thank you!
That is so cool. Just beautiful!!
How beautiful was that! And so imaginative. Thank you :)
Lovely!
What an amazing video. So clever and well seen images.
WOW, very creative! Love the incredible reflections 👍✌️😊🙏🏼
Beautiful!
Wonderful!
I rarely watch things twice, but I did in this case. Is it art? Is it physics? Is it phenomenology? It seems to be all three. Quite captivating...very well done.
My mindset was in a bad place today; depressed by the monotony of upsetting news items, by lock down, by how life has changed and will need to change more. But if we take a different view and look at the world from a different angle, there are some positives out there and reasons to feel a little better. Those good things are hidden behind dark clouds that have filled our minds. To clear those clouds away, we need some restful images, the sights/sounds of nature and... a little time to reflect. Your video was just the ticket. Love u guys, stay safe.
BEAUTIFUL! Well done, great POV for all scenes, extraordinary artwork in editing. Thank you.
What a thoroughly absorbing way to see the world around us, if I may make so bold; a stroke of genius. Thanks for showing us this, and definitely a work of art. Applause.
Very clever, enjoyed it lots. Stay safe.
Well this was just lovely! Absolutely brilliant. Thanks so much for sharing. The birdsongs were amazing. Big hugs 🇨🇦❤️
Beautiful photography, well done xx
What a cool video. So glad you shared an alternate perspective with us.
This was so serene! Thank you Annamarie!
Lots of love and big gentle hugs to you, Kath, Alice, and Munchy! :-)
Up side down vid in a up side down world, stay safe
I absolutely loved this! More please...
At the beginning I couldn’t quite work out what I was looking at. The couple on the bridge, looked so real, yet mysterious. Then I realised you’d turned the picture upside down. So very clever. I also love the natural sounds, the bird song, the water moving. Really, really lovely x
How lovely!
Thank you
It’s a living watercolor!
Wow lovely
Stunning!
Just beautiful to watch, an art work of the highest order! Loved it
