Haven't finished the video yet but seeing a top 4 placement of all levi in the background while Kris goes "Trust me" in the first 5 seconds is really funny to me
The problem with this game is it that it’s just WAY to expensive to play. Any deck that is any good is way to much and no one likes to lose by playing the affordable decks. I had quit playing, but wanted to get back into it. There is no way. I would advise your new players to try a different, more affordable game.
@@MrWeemoogle No. :) Our locals is mostly non-meta. When someone IS playing meta, they either just got the deck and are playing it because it's a trading card game and they just got a new deck, or they're one of our more experienced players and they want the practice. Most of the time though, you'll see decks that aren't even mentioned in this video; I'm something of a local menace with Lisciafael (I consider it a social service, as practice against base 18k before we get Love and Berry) and that deck is DEFINITELY affordable. Some of us will even play actively bad decks, sometimes for fun, sometimes for laughs. Sure, I might've wasted my entry fee, but seeing peoples' reactions to riding Spinomarquis was 200% worth it. So a new player with a budget deck almost always has a chance to win at least A game in a tournament; not necessarily every round 1, but it's definitely possible once we're into the 0-x brackets. Also, if you think about it, the more budget decks there are in a pool, the more likely any given budget deck is going to get a win, because they're more likely to get paired against another budget deck. So if I want new players to win, I should be adding even more new players. Maybe that's MY Divine Skill, shuffling in new people. Sometimes new players are still uncomfortable with the rules and won't even enter the tournament, so during casual games (which happen because our Vanguard players like playing Vanguard), we established players can bust out something closer to the power level of what they do have. Personally speaking, I'm always happy to have a reason to play a weaker deck like Morfonica; the new player gets to experience more of what the game has to offer, I get to play something I like, and we get to have a closer, more exciting game. I also try to build and sell some budget cores, sometimes at a loss, just so new players have a more varied on-ramp to the game than JUST "Buy Stardust Blade." Yes, losing money hurts me and sometimes it does affect my own budget for building my own decks, but growing the scene is worth it. Plus, I think this game experiences something similar to Magic's Commander format, where people get attached to the unique thing they have and are more willing to show up to express that uniqueness. If your locals is all Angel Kings and Bug Dragons, and no one likes the game enough to have a bad pet deck or some insane brew on hand, and they all hate having to teach new players, and none of them want the scene to grow, then I'm sorry. I do hope you're finding fulfillment in another game. But I think our locals is full of nice people who love this game, and people see us having fun and want to get in on it, and we're happy to help. I am not going to tell people to not try this thing that I actively want to share with them because someone I don't know told me to in a RUclips video's comment section. Here's some unsolicited advice for you: Build a couple budget decks and just play them with a friend. You can even make them the same nation, so if you do decide to spend more on the game and pick up staples, they'll work for both of those decks. Just in the DZ-era sets alone, there are multiple budget ridelines to build around in every nation. Trading card games are more than just the top tables, and you don't need to drop $100 on a deck to have fun.
@@MrWeemoogle Can confirm, have wanted to get into physical for a long time, but no real local scene near (not a large one anyway) and the price to entry, just waiting for Dear Days 2 at this point. Sure it won't be 100% up to date but I can play at an while expensive barrier to entry, less than a phys setup. I do hope new people that have the option still do take the plunge though so we can keep getting stuff like DD2!
just wanna say thanks for all you've done for the community. I only recently got into vanguard. And I mean RECENTLY. Like... 4 days ago I ordered my first product and it hasn't even arrived yet. For me it began with just trying to get a basic understanding of the game. Then I wanted to figure out how to even start building a deck, what starter product is there to buy. Insert me being EXTREMELY confused by all the deck types with names full of words that have no meaning 'stride deck' 'premium stride deck' 'stand up deckset' and what not. Nothing made sense so I had to dive into the Vanguard youtube hole to get a basic understanding. Your videos have helped me get a better basic understanding of the game. Although as a new person I have one request. When you do unboxings of decksets, PLEASE show a little bit of the deck. It was extremely difficult for me to understand why certain triggers are relevant or not. The combo's don't make sense to me yet, so I lack a lot of context. A basic play of the deck would help new people out a lot. Anyway, i just wanted to thank you because I just discovered via a video from Solemn Vanguard that you also organised tournaments in Japan. That is awesome. I love that you don't just create content, you bring the community together. And for a smaller cardgame like Vanguard, I believe that means everything. I haven't touched a single card yet, but I see you're doing what others wish they could. Good job. (BTW I ordered the Luard and Shiranui decksets to become familiar with the game. I saw via videos that the new start up decks are kinda ass)
Great video as always! I'm always up to date to the happenings of Vanguard thanks to you, and if I ever need a certain booster set or deck video for a newbie, I always recommend one of your videos! (really am waiting for Love & Berry to show up~ in english...)
i play ygo & mtg+ have dabbled in the recent anime tcgs. Yet never understood Vanguard...And i still dont :P, but this was still a fun peek into what the current topdecks look like. Perhaps one day (all i know is Vanguard has the best looking cards in the buisness;)
If you played edison, VG standard sorta feels like that, multiple turns back and forth, sometimes dying randomly cuz of getting sack, have to plan ahead for future turns, has a best deck but doesn't mean others can't compete. I recommend it if you're wanting to try something new.
its simpler in the sense thats theres no long combos and that there isnt a 8+ chain reaction of trap card/monster effect/spell that u need a judge do determine what negate what, its like old Yugioh where there are multiple turns that can be played and not just get shutdown on your turn 1. theres a cost system thats this TCG revolves around that uses cards that either under your main(in some instances your side or back) Characters and cards that have been destroyed or dumped. I was a faithful Yugioh player for years and i quit in 2022 and got into VG that same year, best decision i made, not only is it cheaper than Yugioh in terms of buying deck cores but they also reprint the more useful cards, the only time a card costs alot is when its in its highest rarity or different art of the card.
As usual, awesome video! I do feel Rezael is deserving of top spot, while Levidras is a great deck, it is way too reliant on getting it's pieces quickly to make its offensive plays especially if in a game where you drive check into no triggers.
Been watching for a little bit, haven't played yet besides Dear Days demo, waiting for 2 to come out so I can start playing :] hope to see some videos on it here
I didn’t just feel the pain from the healing out of limit break line. I was watching your old Deck and Fight videos from Vanguard Zero. Man I miss those days.
I think when it comes down to it, even if there's a front runner in terms of power level in Vanguard, the gap in potency between tiers of decks just isn't that wide in most formats. I haven't been able to go to locals for ~two weeks or so, but I played Impauldio week one of the new set and did just fine against the Levidras players. I intend to put Rez through its paces, give Alden a shot, maybe even Youthberk, Messiah, Androld, Tamayura, Jheva... Should be fun to mess around with it.
Every good Lyrical deck has issues in the meta right now. Rougia, Krysrain, Kairi, and Lisciafael are considered the best Lyrical decks in the format right now but none of them are good into both Rezael and Levidras. The only real solace is that neither top deck retires so Lyrical can mostly do its thing, but Rezael’s grinding pressure and Levidras’ power scaling hurt Lyrical’s generally weaker power game. There are some lower tier decks that can fight both at a somewhat fair level, but are quite inconsistent into most of the rest of the meta like Charmout, Siana, and Sagitta. That’s honestly what’s plaguing Lyrical right now, and it doesn’t get any better with only the Fire Regalis as support going into Set 6.
25:13 I remember it from my Vanguard Zero days and this is also why I refuse to run Purple OT in Rezael, and I use this exact scenario (on 4, Gab called out from drop by Rezael, hit Purple OT and heal out of Gab’s skill) as my argument to my friends for why they should run Blue or Red OT instead. Works every time 😂
Something not mentioned about Liel&Valtrossa is that it unbricks you really well. Since it can shuffle back a card when it’s called, you can comfortably discard copies of Rezael or PG’s for ride deck and then shuffle them back with Liel to not lose access to them.
Unfortunately, V&L doesn’t allow you to shuffle back non-Elementaria PGs into your deck (“… normal units WITHOUT sentinel”), but recycling Rezael does help a lot. Couldn’t agree more.

I'm just now getting into vanguard after a couple months again. Im hoping this makes things hype. I wanted to buy the night rose deck but it's looking bleak
23:08 vita gets; a *grade3* that trigger filters ,gets+5k, and can +another 10k +drive checks rakshasa gets; a *grade 1* 13k on turn 4, with a reboost skill after it gets retire.
I feel like we will get phylia in festival 2025. My thoughts on the format is I feel like everything's getting too pushed, allot of the older decks aren't bad but most usually do their thing on turn 4+, and then die before they get there, if they go second against some of the newer decks. Even welstra which isn't even on this list feels so bad to play against, get's a bunch of cards and energy, plus can make your vanguard go negative in power and getting allot of power. Honestly idk how they can do it but I feel they need to bring back the power somehow.
@@naiustheyetti That would also work tbh, they just need to slow down the creep a bit. Some decks would be easier than others, I've been playing around with Loronerol, and all I feel she needs is the ability's to have two songs face down on turn 3 before the battle phase, og loronerol with a divine skill that lets her sing a song would fix the deck.
Top 10 by nations: Dragon Empire: 3 (1 honorable) Dark States: 2 (1 honorable) Brandt Gate: 2 Keter Sanctuary: 1 (2 honorable) Stoicheia: 2 (1 honorable) Lyrical nation in shambles XD Not top 10, not even an honorable mention XD Sucks to be a Lyrical main rn XDD
It has been a while but im trying to get back into vanguard, however, considering how the game isnt popular where I am and I dont think ill be able to travel to events, does anyone know a good online like cf arena or any vanguard game online? Last time I played was b4 the mobile game got discontinued so forgive my lack of knowledge lol
Dear days 2 is coming out in a short while, but the price tag of the the first game was hefty by video game standards, especially when they charge separately for new packs as dlc (still probably cheaper than buying an actual deck...). And it probably will never catch up to real life in terms of card availability. But hey, it exists. I am unsure what less-official online fighting method is the norm in the community these days.
of course rezael strong, he can check top 3 and set one via biscotti effect every turn, just set OT/trigger on top of the deck he can 100% hit trigger. And yet he still get support on upcoming set, it just pissed me off even more.
difCAUGHT 0:00 Memes aside levidras is a very **very** good deck, but I still think rezael deserves to get knocked down a peg with cellgaon choice restriction or something because I don’t want Keter to keep coalescencing into find cellgaon teithfallt wisdom win 😭😭

Waiting for the comback of the SKYFALL man
I feel like we will get phylia in festival 2025.
Idk id rather make older decks contend with the current meta considering the difference between t1 and t2 is pretty thin.
Based karin theme
Based Rasetsu
It's been awhile since I looked at vanguard how does overlord still hold up?
Yes Batman! For Gotham! @3:17
i'm just here playing magnolia and greedon masques at my 3 man "locals"

Top 10 by nations:
Dragon Empire: 3 (1 honorable)
Dark States: 2 (1 honorable)
Brandt Gate: 2
Keter Sanctuary: 1 (2 honorable)
Stoicheia: 2 (1 honorable)
Lyrical nation in shambles XD Not top 10, not even an honorable mention XD Sucks to be a Lyrical main rn XDD
U could wait for dear days 2 which will be out on steam and Nintendo switch end of this month
Vangpro :)
Cfa is probably your best bet still honestly, VangPro is a close second though
of course rezael strong, he can check top 3 and set one via biscotti effect every turn, just set OT/trigger on top of the deck he can 100% hit trigger. And yet he still get support on upcoming set, it just pissed me off even more.
It’s Infinite. Just as sooooooon as he gets an encounter. Trust.
I just wish for lyrical meta decks again
12:57 TF am I looking at. Are these actual Vanguard cards?
Magic of crossovers, my friend.
Hope they un restrict cerrgaon for luard
I regret selling Rezael in dzbt01 and now I have Rezael Vita user abuse me 😢

Memes aside levidras is a very **very** good deck, but I still think rezael deserves to get knocked down a peg with cellgaon choice restriction or something because I don’t want Keter to keep coalescencing into find cellgaon teithfallt wisdom win 😭😭
Its a main characther deck so i dont see them bannibg cellgaon entirely what i can see is a choice restriction between cellgaon and teithfalt
oh, wait until set 6 releases. then complain
I think we can all agree that Rakshasa wins with ease...
Against some decks yeah just not vita Levi and odium
The cope is real 😭 trash 2 deck format. Go next
Poor bait
