So happy this passed! Thank Louis Rossman! #RightToRepair
I read an article a while back about how important this is for farmers whose equipment, like our cars, have computer chips in them. Something goes wrong mid-harvest and they can't get it to an authorized dealer for repairs and they've lost a good chunk of their year's income. This is such good news.
People forgot this started with midwest farmers wanting to be able to fix their tractors. May times they would get the parts but had to pirate the software to link them.
Which is why farmers I know just keep their older equipment. They're a creative bunch and can makeshift a repair if needed (usually). Some might want newer equipment but as you said, the future uncertainties stop them.
YES! So happy about this!
Almost no one is going to do board-level repair but we should all be able to at least swap a battery or a damaged port, maybe even replace cracked screen. (Latest Colorado bill forbids parts pairing.)
Reminder: fixing failed respirators during early COVID-19 was a showstopper at some hospitals.
Awesome props to any regions that manage to make it a reality in todays modenr consumer electronics nightmare even with big name manufacturers like Intel facing hostil opposition to being allowed to BUILD facilities to create even compenents for electronics without depending on foreign producers for a number of reasons
Cough...Apple..cough
apple's so called privacy has many multiple data breaches so much BS in his statement right there
You need permission to fart in washington. Write it down.
Finally. The politician give us rights we already should have. We must thank Louis Rosmann who is a BIG right to repair advocate. Apple is evil Louis Riemann used to have an apple laptop repair shop in NYC.
Let's see in the national scheme of things ? Is Oregon really that big of a market percentage wise to say Apple ? Would it not be easier for a company to say "we are not going to sell there " So who really got screwed?
That's just fine!
Such a decision by Apple would only bring more awareness & publicity to a issue further increasing support for the movement! This would speed up the process of more states supporting similar legislation.
In the meantime, consumers in Oregon can either purchase other devices or travel to a neighboring state to purchase an Apple device.
@@DJJonPattrsn22 Apple is just designer wear anyways so no big loss.
Good, because Apple products are over priced crap. I I've in Oregon, and trust me, we wouldn't miss Apple if they decided to not sell here.
But we honestly need this at a federal level.
Can someone repair his earlobes?

Being able to disable the intentional errors in phones is essential to happiness
Phones are not helping with addiction or violence like a big brother would. They make it worse.
