I don't get, why they made him the "bad guy" - he is supportive of her, read her articles, is genuinely interested in her (unlike some other dude). Nate was a complete jerk, he just was angry that Andy started to like her job and that she grew up. In my opinion, she should have ended up with Christian and not get back with the egoistical man child.

In the movie, it's a young woman starting a brand new career in fashion and her immature boyfriend crying about her not spending time with him. It has nothing to do with the sex of the partners, and everything to do with how the couple handles the obstacle at hand. Nate could have chosen to be supportive and could have figured out a way to spend time with her, but he didn't do any of that. He gave her some silent treatment and several passive aggressive comments. Andi, of course, should have also initiated a good conversation about what her career is going to look like for the next year or so. Overall the communication was lacking and this resulted in Nate holding her back. Obviously, at the end of the movie, Andi decides that this career isn't for her and goes back to Nate, though I truly think if she stayed there longer and met someone as driven as herself she could have been a lot happier and successful. Idk if that makes any sense lol
