Rivers will be the Chargers QB for 5 more seasons! At the end of that time he will ONLY be 42, which isn’t old. Today, 42 for an elite QB, isn’t old. PLUS, this guy is IRON MAN... 200+ consecutive NFL starts! In college he had 51 consecutive starts! Phil won’t catch Favre for consecutive starts but he will be solidly in 2nd place!
The 2018 edition of the Chargers is a SB contending team. IF (a big “if”) this team can get over the Arrowhead tomahawking Chiefs & their fans this December the Chargers may - may I say - WIN THE DIVISION! That assumes the don’t stumble against Denver Nov 18 & can beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh Dec 3! Big IFs for sure. But this team has a very good defense WITHOUT Joey Bosa. When Bosa comes back - GAME READY - watch out! The D-line rotation will be devastating to opposing O-lines & QB sacks & strip sacks will be coming in fist fulls! Interceptions will go up along with QB pressures. The offense is outright scary! I just wish they would put opposing teams away earlier! Also, this team is nearly 💯 % intact for the 2019 season as well!

Huge Rivers fan, and I hope he gets a shot at a ring, but this man is blessed. Him not winning would be a shame, but not tragic. He’s a modern Marino & is HOF bound regardless. I will say this, he’s not on the downside & this 2018 roster is LOADED. On paper, best team since 07’. His window is open again...

I really believe that if you give him weapons, the Chargers can go far. The defence looks good, the offence (still, minus Henry) looks good. Rivers really deserves a super bowl, this man's leadership and will to win is overwhelming, even when top players are injured, which seems to be EVERY YEAR (even this year).

I love Herbert, but I'll always come back to see the GOAT. I really wished him and LT can say they won a Super Bowl. It makes me sad, because the San Diego Chargers had so much potential. I will always be a fan no matter what.

i actually believe that if the chargers are fully healthy they are top 5 in best teams. they can make playoffs and win their division only if they stay healthy
I know the Pats are good, Greenbay is good, the Rams are good... But Rivers... Rivers has endured the worst 4th quarter losses that aren’t on him- missed filed goals, fumbles, just random meltdowns and he still comes back and really brings it. I really hope Rivers plays in a Super Bowl before his time is up, I really do...

Die Hard Broncos fan here... I have so much respect for Rivers. I get so much shit from my fellow Broncos fans because he might be the most hated player in the AFC West but you can’t deny that Phillip is the epitome of a competitor

I started watching football when Philip became the starter and LT made history that same year. Fast forward a decade, it truly kills me that Philip never got a ring. Ben and Eli are the champions but Philip is better than both of them hands down. Also, I got a tear by watching this. Great Video 👍

I hope he goes in with the colts and lights it up. His second to last season was a MVP candidate season, this last season was rough because the line was hurt and bad. The chargers did him dirty and I hope he comes out with a vengeance for the colts and wins his ring there.

The Bolts made some nice moves. The draft was about getting Rivers help. I think the AFC West is the best division in football, but we have a shot at winning it.

If they don’t stack this roster even more in every way possible in the next 2-3 years to make a run at a ring.. the Philip Rivers era can be considered a massive failure. No more playing it conservative, or being passive in FA/draft make some moves and get shit done. The time is now or you’re living on a prayer with a rookie qb in 2-3 years.
this year wasn't good for him but now since we drafted alot of good rookies like hunter to gene him at least alot of yards to handle and there's Derek watt a good fullback that can protect him and half backs. I know philip rivers can win us a superbowl before we are headed to la.

I look at it like this...
Philip Rivers is the QB Class of 2004's version of Dan Fouts: respectable stats just like Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger that will put him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but unless something changes in his postseason part of his NFL career, Rivers will end up the same route at Fouts which is no Super Bowl titles nor Super Bowl appearances.
Eli Manning is the QB Class of 2004's version of Ken Stabler: a good QB who may never send a rocket to the moon, but can help you win games and championships despite his erratic, high risk, high reward play in general and is clutch especially in the postseason.
Ben Roethlisberger is the QB Class of 2004's version of Terry Bradshaw: plays in Pittsburgh just like Bradshaw, but has more efficient numbers including a better career TD/INT and is more clutch than Bradshaw especially in the postseason.
+joesakic91 I have great respect for Roethlisberger, but not Manning, fuck him he's a classless prick. Anyways, here are their career TD-INT ratios. It confirms my belief that Rivers is the best of the trio despite having an inferior supporting cast for much of his career (except for 2006-2011).
Rivers: 306 TDs to 148 INTs
Roethlisberger: 297 TDs to 155 INTs
Manning: 316 TDs to 211 INTs

The Chargers are known for making some bonehead moves that cost them some Super Bowl appearances other than 1994.
Do you also hate John Elway for pulling the same stunt Eli did in the 1983 NFL draft when he spurned the Baltimore Colts and bolted for the Denver Broncos?
Sure, Philip Rivers may have a better career TD/INT ratio than the other two, but unfortunately, it will be the playoffs again that Rivers' detractors will bring up and unless something changes, Rivers will end up the same route as Dan Fouts: make the Hall of Fame, but no Super Bowl titles nor Super Bowl appearances.

The team has Denver on Nov 18 in what amounts to be a Homecoming game after being away for 5 weeks! Denver is a must win. I hope the StubHub is rocking CHARGER BLUE big time Nov 18! I assume some of you here ate big Rivers fans, and I'm sure most of you know much more about Phillip Rivers than I ever will. So can someone just tell me why this talented QB left San Diego......? Sorry but I don't get it....

The San Diego Chargers moved to Los Angeles. Philip eventually sold his house in the 2019 season and he went to the colts next year.
Rivers got screwed by the SD organization. He was a great QB. He has played in an era with Payton Manning and Tom Brady and has beaten them both, especially Payton. Rivers only had 1 season with a solid defense and offense. And it was in the same season. With a record of 12-2 and unfortunately they fell to Tom Brady. Rivers was more consistent than Eli Manning and had a higher QBR. Despite Eli having 2 SB wins. I’d take Rivers over Eli any time.
