I hand carve a lot of mesquite Feel your pain with all the surprises this wood brings. Loved the video. What do you use to ebonize ? Vinegar and steel wool?
Looks good to me mesquite around here is tricky it looks good till ya get into it and with the beatles and cut ants that eat it you can come into a big surprise lol awesome job man
I think it's soon time for me to try some of your products, Brad. From what I've read, it sounds like they addressed the concerns I had it with the other popular ones on the market. I'm not happy the way my EEE Ultra shine dried up on me and, yes, I did have the lid closed properly. I do like my shine juice recipe better than the traditional one, but you're right it doesn't last. And I will agree with you that I prefer to mix up my own shellac. I think that's why I'd like to try your stuff is because you seem to be of the same mindset as me. The ebonizing went really well. Dan Young and I have been working on a few things. Adding strong black tea beforehand can introduce tannins into almost any wood. Something to try if you are in the mood to experiment on something that does not traditionally ebonize as well as oak or Mesquite.
Thanks.... i really tried to find my own place amoung the few pastes out rather than use the same exact abrasives. Not to say the other products are bad but to just have something different for people like yourself. I have heard the tea idea but never tried it. Might have to do some experimenting. Thanks for swingin by 👍
@@RatedRWoodturning Yeah, it's not that the other products are good, but I think there's room for improvement and ever since I first enjoyed using tung oil, thought I'd like to incorporate it. You've given us that option and I hope it is a very successful product in the long run.
I think right now my biggest hurdle is just getting people to know its out there. If you do buy a set try to add a note so i can be sure to include some channel stickers
