Mike, Thanks for the video. Great timing as it appears you just posted this. I have a 59 GMC 100 (1 Ton) that I continue to nurse and use on my farm. Your suggestion to pull the float and valve exposed a piece of debris lodged on the black tip of the shut off. I blew it out and re-assembled, started and ran great. Thx again. A fan for sure!!

Thank you so much. I didn't have black smoke but I did have fuel leaking from the throttle shaft and I was at a loss. After your video I tested the float for leaks, adjusted the float level and even though the needle and seat looked fine I changed it to the one in the kit with the rubber like tip and it came to life. 1954 chevy 3600 drove down the road for the first time in who knows how long. The 4 speed with a granny gear cruises at 35 mph and smokes some but now that its running I'm hoping that will improve. Thank you so much for the videos and the rebuild kits.

Hi Mike your info on the black smoke worked out great. Is there any thing you can do for the high altitudes, like 5000ft to 10000 ft we have here in Colorado. Thanks Don H

Mike, you should speak about the diaphragm that splits and lets fuel enter the venturi, by the design of these carbs.

I'm having a problem with a Carter on a 70's 300ci F150. At idle, I can see fuel being pulled in from the accelerator nozzle. Is this an indication of a bad pump diaphragm? The carb has the brass weight/needle check valve instead of the check balls.

Nice video so I have a YF carburetor and I have a question it was a puppy in five small like it was just spider and put around as soon as you give it gas it would fall on its face. Excelerator pump is good. Everything was clean all the Jets are clean, but when you open the carburetor inside on top of the Excelerator pump, there’s an extra screw with the spring that was tightened all the way down. Can you tell me what that screw is for?

That is for adjusting the metering rod. See this page: www.carburetor-parts.com/carter-yf-metering-rod-adjustment

Hey Mike, I've got a 1980 Ford F-100 with an inline 6 cylinder with a one barrel Carter carb.
It started pouring fuel out of the bottom so I removed it and opened it up.
I found some dirt in the float bowl and this small plastic tube!
I'm guessing the plastic tube was interferring with the operation of the float and causing the bowl to overfill.
Any idea what this plastic tube is and where it came from?

The plastic tube connects to the pump base and to the main discharge above.

Having a heck of a time trying to find out what the original carb was on my 1985 Ford F150 truck - L6, 4.9L 300 CID.
If it makes a difference - 4x4, manual tranny, 2-door SuperCab.
Someone thought it might be this one and your video came up first on the search.
Do you know if this was the original carb for my engine?
    Thanks!

I'm having the exact problem with my truck but if won't idle unless the a/c is on. Also it won't crank sometimes unless you choke it manually with your hand. But when you pull the choke all the open when its warm it shuts the truck off. If you could help me it would be great. Thanks

    • @jeffokriya3389
      @jeffokriya3389 4 года назад

when gasoline gets in the oil it´s usually because of a bad gasoline pump . . well unless it´s an electrical pump.

I just had my carb rebuilt for my 55 cj3b, I believe I have the wrong jet. I ordered a .058,.065,and a 0.72 any tips? I hear that the rebuild kit comes with a .090 jet and I think that's what they did.
