Willys MB 1943 Jeep | Carter YF Carburetor Rebuild | DJ-3A, CJ5, CJ-3B

Hello! I am rebuilding a YF Carburetor for our 1943 Willys MB project. This originally came out of a early 1960's DJ-3a. I used a kit from Mikes Carburetor, which worked great! Here are resources for that if you are looking to rebuild your Carter YF:

Any thoughts on the Carter YF compared to Solex? My DJ-3A came with a Solex. Seems to work fine so far.

I’ve never run a Jeep with a Solex, but I can tell you the Solex carbs don’t really have an advantage over the Carters when it comes to power. If you have the DJ intake manifold and can source a Carter YF that’s in good shape, I might recommend making the switch. But there is also value in “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” so maybe it’s wise to roll with it and enjoy it depending on your preference.

@@AlsGarageRestorations Welp, I should have knocked on wood. Everytime I start up it cuts off after a few seconds. Sourcing a Carter YF right now to replace. Thanks for the video!
