We visited Grand Bruit on a bicycle/ferry tour of the south coast in august 2005 while it was still alive and beautiful. Stunning scenery. Nice to revisit. Thank you.

My daughter Patricia Holmes did her first two years of her teaching career in this beautiful quaint little town.

My grandmother was from GB, and my sister lived there for about 30 years, before resettlement. I was visited just after Fiona. Damage to that whole coast was extensive. Beautiful place to visit and forget about the world.

As a descendent of Grand Bruit Billards, having visited there once in 1978, this video is an amazing peak into my families past. Thank you for sharing!

My Grandfather was from Grand Bruit. He met my Grandmother there. She was the teacher and moved to Grand Bruit from Woody Point to teach school. I would love to go there someday and take my Mother's ashes to Billard Island. It was so nice to see that his house is still standing and the Church too. Beautiful video.

Thank you for this wonderful video. We visited Grand Bruit in August '23 to nice weather. We took images, but this video is a great memory of an incredible place that few will ever visit. We did meet one former resident that came back for the summer to fish and hunt. Trip of a lifetime.

Thank you for sharing the video, my parents house is the blue one beside the wharf you were tied up at. The government bought out the residents about 12 years ago as the cost of providing services was extremely expensive and resettlement was agreed upon. There are many small communities all over Newfoundland that went through the same issues over the past 60 years or so.

Hello James, My Grandfather was Albert Wesley Billard 1899-1997 and he lived in Grand Bruit until the 1920's before moving to Detroit with my Grandmother, Winnie Halfyard 1900-1957. She was a teacher in Grand Bruit after she moved from Bonne Bay / Woody Point, NFLD.

What a beautiful place - can't imagine how hard it was for the people that lived there to abandon this little village.

Another fantastic video. Loved seeing the pictures and tour of Grand Bruit which was my mothers hometown. My mother was a Billard so it was pretty neat to see the old house sign with a Billard name on it. Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing your next video.

Thanks Laurie! Sadly we lost our youngest sweet baby Chloe 3 months. She chased a mountain sheep and fell off a cliff. She was the happiest girl that day running over a huge meadow. We weren't even aware that there was a cliff. We found her with the GPS tracker. She loved to run and she is running free forever now. I am still heartbroken. J.
