Mechanical/Trailer Winch Install on Off-road Mower

- In this video, I install a mechanical winch for a trailer on the offroad mower. An eclectic winch would be better but it would draw a lot of power on my battery and possibly run it dead even with the engine running because the charging system on these lawnmowers isn't the best. It is also a lot cheaper and seems like a good idea for something that is under 300 pounds. On top of all that, it is a unique idea and seems to work well!

I am only going to use this for emergency purposes only, if I for real get stuck. Also if this mechanical winch works well for a lawnmower, then maybe keeping a “come along” in your truck to winch yourself out of something would be a good alternative if you don’t have a electric winch!
Add a starter motor to the winch it's still cheap relatively easy and starter motors are readily available
I was thinking. Maybe an electric clutch with a belt setup…. Somehow…
@@CrackerJack256 Electric clutch sounds like a cool idea, however not sure how to make it work lol.
@@user-vf4mf2ei3z I have one lying around that I might throw in there if everything works well.
@@IngenTechNational I'll be ready for a video lol
Bonjour, belle vidéo. Amitiés de France 😊
thats a pretty good idea!
Based
Old mowers are such cheap, rugged, motorized fun vehicles
Put some snowchains on the back tires, youll be amazed :)
The transaxle has asstons of torque, grip is the limiting factor
If I can find snow chains around here, their isn't much snow where I'm from lol.
Maybe weld the extension on to the winch so you can use a cheater bar on the ratchet, maybe even weld a cheater bar on to a ratchet.
Yeah that sounds like a good idea, however I am probably going to get one of the extendable ratchets so that way it will fit in the trunk.
