    The Digitizer is the front glass which recognizes movement from your fingertips or stylus. The LCD is the Liquid Crystal Display that shows the picture you are looking at.

    Yes, while your issues are most likely due to water damage, it is possible some of the internal connections such as a flex cable could have become dislodged. Try opening up your device and making sure everything is secure in it's appropriate place.

    Hey thanks! I used your video and replaced the front, digitizer touch screen (not the underlying LCD screen). It is NOT easy, but you made it possible. The key is lots of heat to release all of the adhesive. My model had more adhesive than the video showed, but without the video...... Forget it! Warning to potential users: This was very risky, and I thought I would have to chuck the whole thing several times, but I made it through. Attempt only if you are willing to throw it out if you fail.

    Your video is MUCH better than that damn fixez video. He makes everything look so easy and everything should just magically pop off while you show there's a little more hard work to it as it isn't very easy to do everything. Thank you for this awesome vid!!!

    It's possible that replacing the screen would do the trick, but since the device incurred water damage, there is no way to be certain that will help. One thing that might help is opening the device, and use a Q-Tip and 91% alcohol to clean off the internal components. This can help with water damage issues. Best of luck!

    You can apply new adhesive and reverse the steps in this video for the reassembly.

    The glass is not damaged at all?

  • @Repairsuniverseusa
    @Repairsuniverseusa  12 лет назад

    Outside glass = touch screen digitizer (spider web crack)
    Internal display = LCD (discoloartion, bleeding)

    Just like Pierrot I also put mine through the wash (accidentally of course) but I was wondering is it possible the cable could've come loose and that they simply need to be popped back in

    My ipod has a spider crack on its screen. The only part that i need to replace its the touchscreen since the lcd display is intact. Which of your tools and parts do you recommend for the repair?

      There isn't any soldering process - all you have to do is remove it from the mainframe and then you can put a new one back in.

    whats the difference between the digitizer and the lcd on your site

    • @Repairsuniverseusa
      @Repairsuniverseusa  10 лет назад

      The digitizer is the touch screen/glass on the front of the unit. The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) shows you the image. They are both 19.99 ea. If you still have a nice image but the glass is cracked you replace the Digitizer. If you don't have an image replace the LCD. Last but not least if your glass and screen are non functioning replace both. Have a great day!

    Wonderful, thank you! And er, what about putting it back together!? Mine quite possibly has water damage or some such. It just about works. Just the screen is f***ed. Seems like it just needs drying out but i don't dare try open it, warranty is still valid (though if Apple realise its water damage... agh, decisions! Oh and where does one avail oneself of such a plastic iPod opening tool?

    Like an idiot, I accidentally left my nano in my pocket and it went through the washer. I can still use itunes and listen to music with it (SO LUCKY!!), but nothing on the screen is responsive. Do you think just replacing the screen will fix the problem, or is it possible that other parts of the nano are involved here?

    How come no one ever mentions that the bluetooth antenna is attached to the black cover in step one with adhesive. Be careful taking the cover off or it will tear the antenna.

    I left mine in the car over night at below 0 temp and it's completely dead now for 2 days. Is there any hope for it?

    • @Repairsuniverseusa
      @Repairsuniverseusa  11 лет назад

      Hello Karen, Check to see if it has some water damaged to it. When you plug it in to charge do it with the Wall outlet and not the computer. Leave it plugged in for awhile. Check and make sure the usb cord you are using is working. There could be some hope here just have to go though the list and do it.

      PunchingEskimos Ensure your flex cable is fully seated, if so it's possible the touch screen is faulty.

    wish there had been a warning at the start of this tutorial that states that this is much harder to do than it looks, i started off with some oil in the screen but my ipod was fully functional, now after attempting this my nano's screen is cracked and constantly flashing. what am i supposed to do now?

    • @Repairsuniverseusa
      @Repairsuniverseusa  11 лет назад

      catherine thomas Was the oil underneath the front glass of your device? This video is intended as a resource for those trying to repair their entire Glass + LCD assembly. It is not suggested to lift the front glass by itself as it is adhered to the LCD underneath it.

    Hi, I accidently ran by 7th generation Nano through the wash, it was in my pants pocket. It's not turning on, the screen is black. Yet, when I plug it in, it syncs with Itunes and shows all of the current songs on it. How can I address this to be fixed?

      Hello Rebels,
      Sorry about your device getting ran over. :(
      Not to worry though. Sounds like your LCD is broke as well as your touch screen if it got ran over. You will need 2 parts.
      The Touch Screen Digitizer and the LCD
      For black touch screen - www.repairsuniverse.com/ipod-nano-7th-gen-touch-screen-replacement.html
