@NamuPhuchi1 We would suggest the LCD with Touch Screen Digitizer. The reason being - the screens are fused together. It is possible to separate them, however it is very difficult and dangerous. For an extra few bucks, we highly suggest ordering the full screen assembly. It will make your repair much more simple.
@BLACKBOYstudios Sounds like a replacement LCD screen would be needed. The Nano 6th uses a screen assembly however, which we suggest replacing as the touch screen and LCD screen are fused together.
@MrBoobiesLove Is the button stuck or not pressing properly? You may be able to disassembly and un-stick the button from the inside. This is a fairly simple way to diagnose the issue.
This could be an issue with the LCD part of the device. Please check the LCD flex cable for damages such as a tear or pinches. Make sure all connections are secure.
@chokeonrocks Will the button physically press down or is it stuck? This is normally a very simple fix. Just heat the screen assembly, remove the screen and internal panel, from there you should have access to the volume buttons. They can either be removed or cleaned on the inside and outside. Q-Tips and a very small bit of alcohol work best.
I would suggest attempting to re-calibrate the screen. If this can not be done, then a hard reset may help. Even possible that disassembling the device and disconnecting the touch screen flex and re connecting it may help.
@MrQbeezy It depends on the cause of the white screen. It can either be an issue with the motherboard, or LCD screen. If iTunes recognizes the iPod, then it is likely that the LCD screen is faulty, and when replaced, the white screen will be repaired. If it is not recognized, the motherboard is likely at fault.
@MrBoobiesLove No problem at all. It is always worth a try. It depends on if the button/flex cable is physically damaged or if it is just stuck. If it is stuck you can use a Q-tip with a small bit of alcohol to clean the area (stay away from flex cables and electronics though).
@BaneWolf21 You will need to remove the screen, etc, to be able to remove the button and realign, clean, etc. Does the button feel sticky, or just "locked" in a down position? If it is just really sticky you can attempt to clean from the outside, but normally you will need to access the button from the inside.
@BaneWolf21 Normally this is just caused by a bad alignment, damaged button, or the button just needing a cleaning. I would suggest following this guide and cleaning the button with a Q-Tip with a small bit of alcohol.
@2000ursul If you are patient you can remove the digitizer from the LCD screen without damage, however this is a risk we prefer not to take with our repairs. The assembly is much quicker to install.
@mrmeat2222 Possible other pry tools can be guitar picks, small flat head screwdrivers, etc. Safe pry tools can sometimes be found at local repair shops as well.
@MerrildRene Is the device recognized by iTunes if plugged into a computer? If it does not connect, then there has likely been damage to the motherboard and it will need to be replaced. If it is recognized, it may be worth taking the device apart and just checking out the area around the power button, just to see if there is anything easy to spot that can be causing the issue.
You will need to open the device. You can use this video as a reference to get access to the home button. Once you get to it you will be able to clear it from debris or find out what is causing this jam.
@ENERGYSMYNAME Yes, that is the same situation. I would suggest trying to clean the outside of the button with a Q-tip and a small bit of alcohol. We are sorry, but we have many videos lined up to do currently and do not have time to show this any better than it has already been explained.
@MrBoobiesLove Good luck when you do. Honestly it is likely something simple. We take these apart all the time without an issue. This guide is exactly what we do, so if you heat it properly and do as instructed you should be able to diagnose the issue.
@jdmbeaner182 You should be able to disassemble and dislodge it from the inside. You may want to (carefully) us a small flat head screwdriver to do this.
@Moa991 Likely you ordered only the touch screen digitizer or only the LCD screen. The issue with this is Apple fuses together the two screens, making removing one a bit of a pain. This is why we always suggest the touch screen / LCD assembly available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. It is a much simpler repair.
@SoStuckUp12 The glass (outer) touch screen is also referred to as the "digitizer". If you mean the LCD screen, it is possible, but not suggested. The touch screen and LCD screen are fused together and are very difficult to separate without causing damage to the other screen. We suggest replacing the screen assembly, it is much simpler and safer. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@Dyter1 Sounds like a LCD issue. Replacing the screen assembly would be suggested - This is because the touch screen digitizer and LCD screen are fused together and attempting to remove only one screen normally results in damage. The screen assembly is a very simple replacement. These can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
This is the touch screen digitizer. With this device the LCD and the touch screen digitizer are fused. We suggest replacing the fused part which is located on our site at RepairsUniverse (dot) com
@BLACKBOYstudios Normally this is caused by a bad connection from the LCD screen to the motherboard, or a damaged LCD screen. Does the device have any history - such as water damage, recent major drops, previous repairs, etc.?
Yes, this is an issue with the LCD but the internal display(LCD) and the external glass (touch screen digitizer) are fused together. I suggest replacing the fused screen which is available on our site at RepairsUniverse (dot) com
@theowbert If the iPod is detected by iTunes, that is a very good sign that it is only a display issue. I would suggest replacing the LCD + Touch screen digitizer assembly available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. The reasoning for the assembly is that the LCD screen and digitizer are fused together, making it very difficult to replace only the LCD screen without damaging the touch screen digitizer. Tool wise you will only need adhesive strips and a small phillips screwdriver.
This can be caused by damage or if a repair was done incorrectly. If there is no display but connects just fine to other devices then this is a LCD issue.
@OnOffRebootMe It is possible it is water damaged. I would connect it to a computer and see if it is detected by iTunes. If it does, then the motherboard is likely working fine and is likely a screen issue. If it is not detected, it is likely the motherboard is fried and it would be considered "totaled".
@Shahrul1313 You can use this guide here to replace the screen. The Nano 6th Gen uses a screen assembly with the LCD and touch screen digitizer fused together, making just replacing a single screen (either glass touch screen or the LCD screen) very difficult. We suggest replacing the full screen assembly which is a much simpler repair. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
I would suggest replacing the touch screen digitizer. The Nano 6th gen's touch screen and display LCD are fused together however, making just replacing the digitizer very difficult. I would suggest swapping the full screen assembly. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
This worked awesome. I was somewhat skeptical but I am thrilled to have the option to fix my own nano. Thanks so much for taking the time to post this video. Hated the idea of paying Apple $90 for a replacement refurbished 6th gen iPod nano.
@MegaMajorMario We suggest you replace the full screen assembly (LCD display and glass touch screen digitizer) as Apple has fused together these screens making it very difficult to separate them without damaging the other screen. A full screen replacement will resolve the issue. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@BaneWolf21 Likely going from the inside will be the only way to get the issue resolved. Follow this video until you have full access to this button and its flex cable.
This sounds like an issue with the LCD. Both screens are fused together so we suggest replacing the same fused piece. We have this available on our site at RepairsUniverse (dot) com
@Chis100970 PLEASE NOTE: the touch screen and LCD screen are fused together and therefore, quite difficult to remove without damaging the other screen. The item on eBay is likely just the LCD screen or touch screen. This repair can be done, but is fairly difficult. We highly suggest the screen assembly, which removes the entire process of separating the screens. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
Great instructions. Just replaced my screen after watching the video. This saved me a lot of money for repairs that can be done at home. The only challenging part was getting the contacts back on, as they are small and not easy to line up.
@OnOffRebootMe The glass and LCD on this model are fused together. Because of this we recommend the LCD + Touch screen replacement. We have these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com
Thank you so much for this video! It helped me so much! I was just wondering, my screen isn't sticking properly, did I just ruin my iPod, or can I use a adhesive? if so, what kind?
Thanks for this. My screen wasn't responding and was boxing every selection I would make. Took screen off, put back on, reset via settings, and voila. Works!
Very clear instructions. Thank you. One question, what do you use as adhesive to attach the new screen to the iPod housing ? And is it included in a full repair kit ?
@MrSlaytamer Yes, this just sounds like the LCD (backlight) has stopped functioning. Replacing the screen assembly will resolve the issue. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@colingawellover1 We suggest you replace the full screen assembly (LCD display and glass touch screen digitizer) as Apple has fused together these screens making it very difficult to separate them without damaging the other screen. A full screen replacement will resolve the issue. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@EointheGuy101 If the device itself is working properly then it is likely you will just need a screen replacement. The Nano 6th gen has the touch screen and LCD screen fused together. I would suggest replacing the full screen assembly. This will make the repair much more simple. These can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
Do you need to apply adhesive to reattach the new screen? if so, what kind of adhesive? I'm assuming it would have to be something that turns gooey when heated.
Hi, my glass has cracked, but the LCD is fine. Touch functions are still fine.. Can I just buy a touch screen / glass (i assume that's the digitizer as well?) without replacing the LCD? Will I have to stick the LCD and the glass together myself? Thanks a million!
thanx i'ma do that once i pick up a small enough scew driver, if i do need ta replace the power button how much will it cost? n where do i get the part from?
My Ipod nano 6g ended in the laundry machine by accident. The Ipod didn't work anymore and I put it in a bag of rice to dry. After 4 weeks I connected the Ipod to the computer and I-tunes recognized it. I put some earplugs with a play/stop and volume buttons in and the Ipod worked. But the screen doesn't work. If I just replace the screen, would the Ipod just work as normal? Or is there something wrong on the inside maybe? Thanks
@PauChiChiBang No problem at all, glad you found the video helpful! If it is not sticking properly it is likely just an issue with the adhesive. I would suggest applying some new adhesive, the adhesive strips available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com have found to be the most effective.
@1Pueblito Digitizer is basically the glass with the touch screen. The glass has the touch screen fused to it. You can find Nano 6th Gen screen replacements at RepairsUniverse (dot) com
The LCD and the touch screen digitizer are fused in this device. We suggest replacing the combo LCD+touch screen digitizer which can be found on our website at RepairsUniverse (dot) com
@gvitalie420 Just because the part is small does not mean it is less expensive to manufacture. In fact, in many cases it is the opposite. Also, many models Apple has produced lately has the LCD screen and touch screen fused together, making it very difficult to replace only the outer touch screen or the inner LCD screen. Check out RepairsUniverse (dot) com for our current parts and prices for the Nano 6th generation.
Hey this has been by far the most comprhensive and direct video which identifies my issue with my ipod. I was hoping to purchase a new screen from your website and was wondering when would be the soonest possible time you guys would restock in screens.
@NamuPhuchi1 We would suggest the LCD with Touch Screen Digitizer. The reason being - the screens are fused together. It is possible to separate them, however it is very difficult and dangerous. @BLACKBOYstudios Sounds like a replacement LCD screen would be needed. The Nano 6th uses a screen assembly however, which we suggest replacing as the touch screen and LCD screen are fused together.
@USAWres222 Thanks for your kind comments. We hope to have these screens back in stock in 1-2 weeks.
You can open the device to make adjustments to the button and to asses the issue. What makes a clicking sound? The buttons or the screen?
@chokeonrocks Will the button physically press down or is it stuck? This is normally a very simple fix. Just heat the screen assembly, remove the screen and internal panel, from there you should have access to the volume buttons. They can either be removed or cleaned on the inside and outside. I would suggest attempting to re-calibrate the screen. If this can not be done, then a hard reset may help. Even possible that disassembling the device and disconnecting the touch screen flex and re connecting it may help.
@anubisswift No problem. Glad we could help. Its pretty easy to open once you know how.
@MrQbeezy It depends on the cause of the white screen. It can either be an issue with the motherboard, or LCD screen. Correct. You will have access to the buttons once the device is opened and taken apart.

@mrmeat2222 Possible other pry tools can be guitar picks, small flat head screwdrivers, etc. Safe pry tools can sometimes be found at local repair shops as well.
@kalifire Heating normally only takes 30-60 seconds. It is better to heat it more often than to do extreme heat all at once.
Is the button sticky or is it not aligning properly? Are you able to press the button?
@MerrildRene Is the device recognized by iTunes if plugged into a computer? If it does not connect, then there has likely been damage to the motherboard and it will need to be replaced. If it is recognized, it may be worth taking the device apart and just checking out the area around the power button, just to see if there is anything easy to spot that can be causing the issue.
using heat and a prytool, you can loosen the adhesive and separate the screens.
You will need to open the device. You can use this video as a reference to get access to the home button. Once you get to it you will be able to clear it from debris or find out what is causing this jam.
You will need to take the device apart. Following this video is the best way to go.
@fridayman123 I would disassemble and attempt to figure out why the button is not clicking, possibly you may be able to dislodge from the inside.
@NamuPhuchi1 I am unsure if other vendors are available in England, however RepairsUniverse does ship internationally.
@1Pueblito Tee screen with 2 connections is the combined LCD + Touch screen digitizer.
@ENERGYSMYNAME Yes, that is the same situation. I would suggest trying to clean the outside of the button with a Q-tip and a small bit of alcohol. We are sorry, but we have many videos lined up to do currently and do not have time to show this any better than it has already been explained.

@bullletrium780 No problem at all. The screws have 4 sides, a "+". Very common screw in Apple devices. Small phillips, size "00".
@SoStuckUp12 The glass (outer) touch screen is also referred to as the "digitizer". If you mean the LCD screen, it is possible, but not suggested. Be sure all of the internal connections are securely in place. Often times during a repair components can become loosened or dislodged.
@PlayLoud1000 Yes, new adhesive will be required as all the old adhesive will likely come off with the old screen assembly.
@LONGxLIVExTHExSTANG Check the tools section. These are the adhesive strips to use for the nano 6th.
@MrAndrewjs The screen is glass. How can it peel off? Is it a screen protector or something you have on the glass that is peeling off?
You can separate the screens using heat to loosen the adhesive.
You can open the device to clear out debris around this area if any. You may need a new button.
This is the touch screen digitizer. With this device the LCD and the touch screen digitizer are fused. We suggest replacing the fused part which is located on our site at RepairsUniverse (dot) com
Have the 2 screens come apart? They must stay sealed together.

You can attempt it with a small flat head but it could be a motherboard issue if it does not work.
The device has a fused LCD+touch screen digitizer so we recommend replacing it with a fused part as well or it can get tricky.

@cpslomatt No problem at all! Glad you found it useful.
You may need to open the device to clear any debris that may be causing a jam.
You will need to open the device to adjust the button or replace it.
@drewbykinsey Sounds like the LCD screen is damaged. A replacement should fix this issue.
@MrBoobiesLove Take it slow and heat it up pretty good, you shouldn't run into any issues. Let us know if you run into any issues.
This sounds like an issue with the LCD. Both screens are fused together so we suggest replacing the same fused piece. We have this available on our site at RepairsUniverse (dot) com
It is this video in reverse. from 2:29 you can slowly rewind this video to assist you.
@Solracian The full screen assembly is suggested, and these are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

Open the device and see if it is just jammed or needs to be replaced.
Check the connections to the touch screen digitizer it most likely is not connected.
Thanks for this. My screen wasn't responding and was boxing every selection I would make. Took screen off, put back on, reset via settings, and voila. Works!

Hi there. Great guide.
My Ipod nano touch have got a water damage. Now the on/off buttom dosent work.
What to do?
New motherboard?
Great news! Thanks for the positive feedback.
Glad we could help. Why pay someone else to fix your phone?
@saaaaaasssssyyyy I would suggest disassembling your Nano and using Q-tips with a small bit of alcohol to clean the button.
Thank you for the positive feed back!
Could be damage or a bad part. If you ordered it from us then we warranty our parts so please " contact us" if so.
This is an LCD issue. We suggest replacing the LCD+touch screen digitizer combo.
We have this available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

do you have to add more adhesive after replacing the screen, or does the adhesive left over work just as good as before you open the nano?
The weird functions are after days of sitting in rice. So, would it be the logic board or the buttons that need to be replaced?
By the screen replacement do you mean the LCD screen and the digitizer as 1 since they are very hard to seperate or just the digitizer?
We recommend sticking to the video to avoid any risks.
