Sorry, but the frame test was complete BS. The bending moments were distributed over 8 points on the frame only about a 1ft away from the pickup points. 60klbs is 15klbs per pickup point, spread over a 2ft section, that's a 7.5k ft/lb bending moment for each of the 8 cable points.
+eformance Yah, it's the same concept as a rope ladder or rope suspension bridge. It looked impressive, but not a real stress inducer. Hang those trucks from one end and then see what happens...
Hahayourdead007 The crane is using the frame as a load distribution bar, but the bending moments on the frame are confined to a very small section of the frame, and not representative of how the load is distributed in a real pickup truck.
As for someone who drives both GM and Ford trucks daily. Dodge here and there. I say this new F-series is going to be a big hit. The interior looks so much better btw. Thank you ford! No more plastic look!
4.0 FordPower Id rather have a RAM than a Ford. Buying a Ford diesel is like buying a box of chocolates you never know what engine your gunna get because they change every couply of years. GM and Dodge have had there same engine's for nearly 20 years now.
Am I the only one who genuinely likes the new look? It seems every time something new comes out, people always hate hate hate and sometimes it's understandable. This time it isn't. I like it. :)
60k is cheap wish they still costed that much 2017s was the best trucks ever made and they was cheap I wish I knew I would’ve bought 10 of them back then
TheSamplebridge I know it's the announcement. They announced it with a big ad though. Full of gimmicky bullshit. Put it on a stage somewhere and pull a blanket off of it. This is just terrible. It's so fucking stupid.
+LordRedRevolt This is the most disconnected consumer ford advertisement i've ever seen. Ok lets hang a bunch of sheet metal from a crane and call it ford tough. Hang that single caterpillar dozer from the centerpoint of that frame. Then you've convinced me on your faux advertisement.
I'm a Ford guy through and through. But NO Super Duty will ever come close to the 7.3. That's the toughest, smartest, and most capable Super Duty ever.
They are known to be unreliable crap. My family is in the fencing business, so obviously we need strong trucks. Tried a new Ford for the fuck of it, and it was garbage. The only reason we bought one was because the Ford dealership gave sooooo many incentives lmao. With Ford offering a new truck for a super low price, why not? Well, no wonder Ford gives so many incentives that lower the price and thus get people inside their cars... Their vehicles are garbage. We only use Sierras and Silverados now. Those have been super reliable. My uncle has one at 400k in Texas. He owns a ranch lol.
+johnmarstonlives Alot of people hate on the Euro Fords because they are crap, my cousin had a 1 year old Mondeo and it startet rusting, ye Swedish winters are hard on the cars but no other cars start to rust if you don't buy a Lada Niva from mother Russia that's the same car today as it was when it came out in 1985 or something haha.
+Ishliss2012 Remember when the 2015 F150 came out? It too was unveiled more than a year before it's model year. And we had to wait til last February to see in dealerships. So I wouldn't be surprised if the SD takes over a year to reach the market.

jldude84 Yes I have. Its a exceptional looking truck that is not too rounded unlike this....vehicle..... But I digress, you probably like the Ford fiesta too...
jldude84 OK I can live with that. Looks are purely subjective. If you like this truck, why should I care what you like? If you like it and you are pleased with it, why would I tell you what is good looking and what it not. Have a good day sir. *tips hat
haha. jealous? far from it dude. Ford took the boxed frame from chevy, combined the camera options and positions of a ram, and body modeled after a Toyota tundra. I mean look at that roof! all glass like a Toyota van, seriously? then again it's said the best flattery is mimickery. too bad they can't fix the power plant of such a copied vehicle. after all, I have yet to see a powerjoke over 250k while ram's Cummins power plant have a million mile club. top it with a duramax from 2003 with 300k still costs 20k. the funniest thing of this all, ram put a gas engine into their 3500 duallies that puts more power and torque to the wheel then a powerstroke... talk about piss poor design and originality.
+jldude84 if you have ever looked at the design of chevy the last few years it's going in a circle. the last "modern" appearance were the v style headlights from 02-06. the new body style from 06 till 2014 mimicked the 1980s single headlight and curved 98 body. the 2014- current looks like the 1990s split headlights with curved edges. who knows what style they are going to copy next from their history, maybe the 98-02 boxed lights curved body? the only major differences have been the technology. my 05 silverado I wish had a box frame, but o well I can't complain. I only have only 1 problem currently thats major. ring and pinion are going out. but what do you expect with a truck I've drag raced, tow loads, and use daily with 250k miles. can't beat the reliability!
That crane stunt was a total joke, there would be such minimal force distributed on the frame at the top by the way its secured to the crane lines, the crane is the only member taking any substantial force.
If only they knew it could have been a couple of wood beams there and the result would be the same. To demonstrate strength of the frame the way they are trying they should have hung them in the middle of the frame with the crane supporting the outer portion.
Best selling = lowest price. Most sold = shortest lifespan. I wonder what MT is getting from Ford to show this commercial on its channel. I'd take a free work truck for showing a commercial, even if it was a Ford. From a fleet mechanic who's replace three 6.7 Powerstroke engines just out of warranty, that should mean something. Styling by Michael Bay isn't helping, either.
All that weights was hooked up th the same spot where crane cable is lifting the frame so that is not gonna give stress to the test frame as much as you think. It doesn't really matter other than show. Another thing or a question is after all that futures loaded super duty is gonna cost $80k instead $70k now like they did with the f150 trucks. I have 2013 f150 limited price was almost $55 k I priced new platinum sticker on the truck was almost $67 k. It just crazy.
The issue is vw claims the vehicle produced y amount of pollution and it does when the vehicle detects it being test for emission testing. When it's not being tested it actually produced z amount which was 40% more then vw claimed. That's fraud buddy. BMW is now caught up in this as well not meeting claimed emission levels
VW rigged their 2.0 diesels with illegal software to fool emissions testing that they were polluting less than they actually were. They lied several times about it before finally fessing up. It's a scandal. That's why their in deep shit.
+jldude84 small diesel engines with good emissions is just stupid. The engine will end up having less and less power while it already is small and low power. Exhaust gas recircleation is the worst thing you could do to an engine. It will ruin it's lifetime, it's power and it will cost more. Besides VW is not even a thing on american roads. If they really would be about 'cleaning' their market they would for sure make life harder for Toyota. VW must be the least thing to worry about. It's funny how everytime the US is doing basically anything some idiots over here in Europe come up with dumb conspiracies. VW simply did one of the greatest frauds in history and they sure deserve to be taken apart now.
why? these full sized American trucks look ugly as hell now. Rn only trucks I'd buy are a Tundra or a Colorado. Like seriously where do they come up with these designs?
ok... if you notice when doing the weight test with multiple trucks the anchor point on the frame is aligned with the anchor points of the cables attached to the crane. Therefore as long as the anchor points are stable there will be no bending of the frame. A better test for frame resistance to bending would be to suspend the trucks from the center of the frame. I doubt it could support a single truck without visible stress bending.
10:00 Sorry to say but that frame is not experiencing much bending moment, there is no lever arm between the cables from the top of the crane and the cables hanging down the frame.
+Yoshio Tamiya That fucking test hanging trucks it's an example of how the U.S. makes impressive stupid circus stuff that proves nothing and label it as a need you have. They didn't put weigh in the back, and you can tow just as nice without ''millitary steel'' There's not a single second of this video making sense, also those presenters look like they directed this comercial to people in their 40's crisis.
+omar fuller That's all they are. Believe me, we all know that this shit means nothing. That's why i refuse to watch vehicle comparisons. They're fucking stupid and make Americans look bad. This is why we all like roadkill so much, because it's actual genuine vehicle fun that isn't hyped or plain fake.
omar fuller The test was definitely bullshit. Very controlled conditions with all the math done ahead of time to find the strongest possible points on the frame and design the display and the rig around them. I particularly liked the line "No visible distortion." because it's a way of not admitting the thing was bent as hell. Just because we can't see it, doesn't mean the damage isn't there. Anyway, like I said in my first post, the grille is ugly as fcuk. Can't be bothered caring about anything behind it.
+Darin Humble *rubs money together. it would have been better if any of the motortrend hosts had been on but seriously? this was literally a 20 minute ford add stuck right onto the channel...
The Ram has been the best looking truck since 2009 I think. It has that rounded truck shape. Chevy and Ford have gone as square as a box, they both used to have a rounded front end too.
I agree the crane test is a pile of my super duty in the mornings. The forces go directly to the cranes cables and to the crane structure NOT the truck frame at all.
I'm a automotive enthusiast that can find beauty in anything on wheels. I tend to lean towards GM trucks tho(own a 2014 Silverado). I have taken a liking to the Super Dutys when the 08 6.4 trucks hit the streets and really like the 2011- 6.7 trucks a lot. If I was looking to buy a heavy duty truck(which I will be in a few years) there is a few things I MUST have. It must have solid axles, it must have a locking rear diff, it must have at least 400hp 700tq, it must sit tall, it must look good and it has to have a strong aftermarket cause I like to lift and mod my trucks. I can honestly say the GM's would prob be my last consideration in the HD market. I really like the looks of this truck but can it back up the hype? We will see!! I can't wait to see one of these new ford Super Dutys lifted 6+ inches on at least 37s.
Look at all the haters. I'm an older guy and I see so many people that are not even old enough to drive or atleast they act like it. Using terms like "gay" number one it isn't a insult and number two you are just hating because you have a different opinion.
So who at Ford thought it would be a good idea to make this video 20 minutes of technical information and then give us NOT ONE SINGLE SECOND of detailed, close-up footage of what the actual freakin' trucks look like?!?! All they did was pull a bunch of trucks into the frame and then end the damn video. Brilliant idea guys.
I wouldn't mind being a Tester for Ford or even an Automotive Technician for them, tried all the Ford Garages within 30 miles and also Volkswagen and Peugeot and Audi and got nothing out of my CV's, I have tried 61 places with CV's and applications to all sorts of companies, been trying since December, completed my City & Guilds Automotive Level 2 Diploma at Grade Merit in June. I also have another 10-14 qualifications that I have achieved over the years.
all I wanted to know from this video was if the new super duty would keep its solid front axle. Its one of the very few, if the only, pick up trucks built that still has one standard.
And what the hell did that frame test prove, the top shackles were directly above the bottom shackles. Of course the frame did not bend the rigging system did not allow for it.
i have a 2008 6.4L Diesel F250... i love the look of it... but i should paint it yellow... cause its a lemon and always breaks down... not sure what truck i should buy next.... maybe a dodge?
The frame test isn't legit. They suspended the trucks directly in line with the frame's rigging, so there isn't much strain, making it an unfair test. It's testing the crane's strength more than anything.
Truck is shown at 19:10. You're welcome :D
Thank You :D
+KING ALI :D
Sorry, but the frame test was complete BS. The bending moments were distributed over 8 points on the frame only about a 1ft away from the pickup points. 60klbs is 15klbs per pickup point, spread over a 2ft section, that's a 7.5k ft/lb bending moment for each of the 8 cable points.

thank god i wasnt the only one seeing that
+eformance Yah, it's the same concept as a rope ladder or rope suspension bridge. It looked impressive, but not a real stress inducer. Hang those trucks from one end and then see what happens...
if u think about it the crane is supporting all the weight not the frame
Hahayourdead007
The crane is using the frame as a load distribution bar, but the bending moments on the frame are confined to a very small section of the frame, and not representative of how the load is distributed in a real pickup truck.

The test was definitely bullshit.
I disagree
So how did this end up on MT channel?
+Darin Humble *rubs money together. it would have been better if any of the motortrend hosts had been on but seriously? this was literally a 20 minute ford add stuck right onto the channel...
ford. First on race day
+LXC_Johntae lolol sure.
4.0 FordPower Dodge all the way.
4.0 FordPower That right there proves how fucking retarded ford people are.
4.0 FordPower lol you're digging yourself a big hole here friend.
First on race day to the pit.
I love the way these 2017's sit. first new truck bodystyle that grew on me instantly.
My addblocker didnt block this one :/
So, can I cut the body around the wheels and put 46" on it? Will the gearbox, drive-train, and axles handle it, like Dodge does?
Pfffft. My jeep Wrangler could outperform this. Mopar for life!
The Ram has been the best looking truck since 2009 I think. It has that rounded truck shape. Chevy and Ford have gone as square as a box, they both used to have a rounded front end too.
Built Ford Cheap.
+Josh Lewis like Genital Motors is any better with their faulty ignition.
+Josh Lewis who does this better man??
+fordguy2001 lol Genital Motors made my day...or shall we say night?
+Oussama Erraji or genital manure
+Oussama Erraji or Genital Maniac
I agree the crane test is a pile of my super duty in the mornings. The forces go directly to the cranes cables and to the crane structure NOT the truck frame at all.
I love fords and all but damn, that truck is ugly as fuck lol
I use my Super Duty as a daily driver!! LoL : ) It really has motivated me to get my boat repaired!
Sorry for asking a stupid question, but why is it announced as 2017? is this not meant to be markeded for next year?
so is ford still going to use powerstroke in 2017?
I seen them testing one in black drab on i-10 a few months back.
does it still knock in regen?
does it come in a Manuel
Damn. I'm a Chevy guy, although I like all 3 brands honestly, but this is pretty badass. The cameras and trailer camera is badass
Huge thumbs up 👍🏻
What a great job Ford 💙
I'm more impressed with how easily the crane can lift all of that :D
So who at Ford thought it would be a good idea to make this video 20 minutes of technical information and then give us NOT ONE SINGLE SECOND of detailed, close-up footage of what the actual freakin' trucks look like?!?! All they did was pull a bunch of trucks into the frame and then end the damn video. Brilliant idea guys.
whats the song at the end when they brought out the truck?
I wouldn't mind being a Tester for Ford or even an Automotive Technician for them, tried all the Ford Garages within 30 miles and also Volkswagen and Peugeot and Audi and got nothing out of my CV's, I have tried 61 places with CV's and applications to all sorts of companies, been trying since December, completed my City & Guilds Automotive Level 2 Diploma at Grade Merit in June. I also have another 10-14 qualifications that I have achieved over the years.
Someone needs to count how many times "Toughest, Smartest, and most capable" was said.
I want a truck, not a space ship. Bring back the late 80's simplicity!
Yeah me to new trucks stink with all electric stuff. But at least exact truck as 80s model but the back up camera those are nice.
all I wanted to know from this video was if the new super duty would keep its solid front axle. Its one of the very few, if the only, pick up trucks built that still has one standard.
This felt like I was watching ESPN
when is ultimate adventure 2015 coming out
I LOVE ROADKILL.
Keep up the good work guys
From THE LAND DOWN UNDER.... AUSTRALIA MATE
In my opinion, the looks of the interior and exterior (despite the grille) design is alot better than GM's Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.
Yeah, one frame can support 9 trucks... with the cables of the crane fixed almost at the same spot as the weight. Well done... ¬¬
EL MEJOR PROYECTO DE MARKETING!!!! FELICIDADES FORD.
am I the only one that loves this design
Cool, but does it death wobble?
How many times was "Super Duty" said in this video? O_O
It was smart to take the wt savings and put into beefing up other areas. Nice!
And what the hell did that frame test prove, the top shackles were directly above the bottom shackles. Of course the frame did not bend the rigging system did not allow for it.
In the frame twister it cant open its tailgate
I'm a Chevy guy, but I like both, long as it's American lol. Good vid.
i have a 2008 6.4L Diesel F250... i love the look of it... but i should paint it yellow... cause its a lemon and always breaks down... not sure what truck i should buy next.... maybe a dodge?
Probably will set the record for most recalls ever... I am a ford guy
why do I feel like I'm watching the NFL half time show
I wish they offered a luxury interior stripped of all cameras and technology, and with a good stereo and 6-speed manual transmission. I'd buy two.
This new truck just made the GM twins look a whoooole lot better.
Beautiful truck , now I gotta apply for a 30 year mortgage to pay for one .
so... it's the toughest, smartest and most capable Super Duty ever?
Didn't realize you guys had infomercials on this channel.
It had a thumbs up until the gimmick with the crane, can someone explain how that tests the frame.?
Finally looks like a F-150
The 6.7 power stroke is where it's at and the 7.3
Chevy owners be like"Ford stupid dooty"
"Ahaha, hey cousin get back in the bed".
Love the new truck!!
And what about the power joke engine
How have they fixed it
Ford born, Ford bred, I`ll be a Ford Lover till im dead
2017?? Great Scott!
The frame test isn't legit. They suspended the trucks directly in line with the frame's rigging, so there isn't much strain, making it an unfair test. It's testing the crane's strength more than anything.
