Hi all, these frozen prawns from Aldi are great for this dish. You can cook them for ages and they don't go tough or rubbery. Thought I'd just clear that up 😂😋😋 the curry paste is from Tesco. Have a good night all.
Looks good Gareth however even though you said the prawns don't go rubbery, the prawns and lead could have gone in for last couple of minutes and would probably hold better flavours.Just my opinion mind 👍
I've been buying this stuff from my local Chinese supermarket for years. Excellent stuff. I use it for doing sausage chips and curry sauce (sometimes with left over egg fried rice), or just making some up to go with cooked chicken. Exactly the same stuff that the local takeaway uses.
I have used goldfish for many years and it’s still the best curry sauce ever.. and it’s not that well known ….so many are missing out . Well done for getting this video out there …people should be aware of the best curry sauce ever ….. thank you …great videos . 🏴🏴

To one Gareth to another, been using this Chinese curry paste for years. Kids love it. You can get different versions from any Chinese supermarket. Good video. 👍🏼
@Danny hogi strange but true, makes a lovely Chinese curry. With a few spots of coconut cream. I portion off the coconut cream into ice cube trays. Easier use.
We tried it to make an India curry but it just tasted of Chinese curry and not Indian, great if you want a fusion but not if you want an authentic tasting Indian curry meal.
Got to add curry paste to my next shopping list now! Never made that but it looks lovely and so easy to make. Thanks. Definitely do some more cooking videos please.
The Goldfish curry paste tastes so good is because it contains MSG(Monosodium Glutamate). All chinese curries should contain MSG but many sauces sold in the UK stores don't. You cannot produce an authentic Chinese takeaway style sauce without MSG.
Looks delish! Here I am at 06.00 fancying a Chinese in Spain! Never heard of this curry. If I do prawns I add them at the end for about four minutes so they don't go rubbery.
I've used that curry for ages. Its my go to. Makes a great curry. I also use it in soups/casseroles if I want to add a bit of spice. I also like them spicy Korean Ramen Noodle pots you can buy from supermarkets. A nice spicey quick snack
Everyone should be checking what is in their freezer, and make a meal of whatever you can find. Great job Gareth. Love Debra from Melbourne, Australia xxx
goldfish is the paste most takeaways use. found it during lockdown and always have a tub in the cupboard , I found pouring the sauce over the stir fry at the end for best results
Had the Goldfish curry last night with slices of chicken, onion, carrot and mushroom. (Wifey cannot eat a prawn 😡) I mix the curry paste up first with measurements off the packet. It's a bit thin, but I find it thickens as the cornflower cooks through with the chicken and veg. Should cook all your other ingredients first in order then add wet sauce, I find. I made a little too much curry sauce so we'll be having it tonight on our chips! It's YOUR fault I bought it in the first place.. 😅😋 Oh, and try Tesco's Chilli Relish (£1.60.) with your plawn clackers.
I keep watching your videos, there was something about them other than food, I could not think what it was, then today I realised, you sound a lot like Fred Dibnah at times, loved watching him, while you are a bit more refined, there is that tone in your voice, so now I know why the videos are comforting, a bit like Jack Hargreaves. Keep it up, cooking, drinking, or just talking about food. Thanks.
Love prawn curry I love the sauce really tasting off prawns n best way do that is add a couple handfuls off the little cold water prawns they release that flavour in there much better then add a few bigger prawns can't go wrong...peshawar naan bread n few chips...heaven 😁
I love Goldfish too, using it tonight for takeaway style chicken curry and egg fried rice. Chicken in the fridge now marinading in minced garlic, white pepper, mustard powder, onion granules, five spice, salt, MSG, Chinese cooking wine, soy sauce, oyster sauce and cornflour.
Best Chinese curry paste, making a chicken one tonight. For a family sized curry I use half a tub of paste to 600ml of water. Chicken, chunky onion like you and mushrooms. Luvly. Thanks Gareth 👍
I have the mayflower powder and the frozen ready-made mayflower and combine the two I do like the look of the curry sauce you used looked good. Great home cooking on a budget or not. 👍👍👍
Oh lordy, was going to have sausage chips and beans for tea tonight, but beans have now been struck off, and mayflower curry sauce I got after your review, will now smoother the chips
Spice Tailor pouches are worth a look. We've found their Thai green curry is one of the best without being overly salty and it comes with the coconut milk.
Getting flashback to a DVD evening I had at a mates in the early 00's where he concocted home made soup consisting of hot water, half a tub of Bisto Gravy Granules and a bag of frozen mixed veg.
I wish that Prawns were available here in Saskatchewan, Canada. Looked absolutely fantastic. Yes, a Basmatti rice would be just the ticket with those prawns.
I’m amazed at how long you cook your prawns for, they’ve always been the last thing I add to the cooking process, as soon as they turn pink they’re done, and are normally succulent and soft to the bite, maybe I’m missing something by not letting them cook for longer, I’ll have to experiment. Have you done a review of the “Maykway” curry powders? I only discovered them when I moved up North to Liverpool, they are nice if you could give them a test, great channel dude!
Haha I knew you'd get into the goldfish curry paste Gaz, so easy to make your favourite Chinese curry at home, I use prawns, chicken, thin sliced steak, anything is belting.

We've been meaning to try those prawns for a while. I think they come in a few different seasonings. To be honest, we are in week 2 of a hello fresh box offer for a month atm but this could be a good Saturday night fakeaway after the 5 day meal plan 👍
Used to get this from the co-op, It's very good. They do a mild and hot one, and I used to add a touch of dark soya sauce. Lovely! I can't get it anymore.
