I have been using this brand od curry sauces for a couple of years, but never vindaloo or madras. This hrand is excellent - better than any others that I have tried including Pataks and Sharwood. My favourite is Murgh Makani. The Saag (spinach ) is also very good.

I always buy this Vindaloo, it's better than either Morrisons or Tescos. This one is hot but not too bad. 99p is a bonus too.
Sometimes I buy Indi Grand's Saag Masala sauce, which is decent too.
Farmfoods sell something similar by a company called Spice Magic, but their sauces are just over a quid.

That looks great. For 99p! I used to use the Kohinoor brand sauces which were £1.25 (more now I'm pretty sure) and they are excellent. Aldi and Lidl both do similar sauces in jars with the spice mix in a compartment on the lid. They used to be 99p but are more now. They're great too. Over the past few years these "instant" style sauces have really improved. So much so that every time I go to our local curry house and they ask "how was your meal?" and I reply fantastic they come back with "excellent, we get our sauces from Lidl". They are of course joking, I think. The restaurant mentioned is called Ten Dining Street in Oakham Rutland. I'm giving them a shout because like L'Oreal, they're worth it. On a tangent what knives are you using? Looks similar to a set I picked up at an auction for a few quid, Prestige is the brand but they look very much like Sabatier.

Looks good, have to have alook to see if ours stock it, we go for chicken thighs. We buy the big 2kg pack which we debone and skin ourselve and save alot that way. We tend to add alot of onions 1kg between the 4 of us, sounds like alot till you cook it down to nothing, add some par boiled new potato's when in season or canned new potato's and toss in afew handfulls of mixed veg for the last 5 minutes and you have a stonking meal. The bones get frozen till we have enough for making stock and the skins we sandwich between to half baking sheets to make crispy chicken skin. We do this when we bake bread along with roasted garlic or prep roast some protein for the following days, to save energy and time. Take care, God bless one and all.

A couple of tips for you bud , if you like the sauce put it in a sauce pan with raw chicken , use thigh filets (more flavour and cheaper) cover it put it on a low/medium heat and cook for around 25 minutes stirring occasionally, add as much chicken as the sauce will handle, curry reheated the day after is always better as it has time to take on the flavour, also it’s fine to freeze, if there’s any left lol 😂 and also you definitely need naan bread with it 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

99p,well worth it. I also add onions and Mushrooms to pre-made curry sauces which compliments and bulks out the Curries. One tip (as i`m used to cooking for one) if you`ve got loads of sauce cook enough curries for 2 portions(your only using energy/fuel once then to cook) then you can eat one, freeze one or put the spare in the fridge to marinate and have it 2-3 days later giving you a tasty, easy night.

Potatoes in a vindaloo is a myth - due to aloo being the Indian name for potato.
The dish originates from the Portuguese who originally called it carne vinha d'alhos, which basically means meat marinated in wine and garlic.
I do admit to liking boiled potatoes in a vindaloo though, so there's that.

It's 120,000 calories..... the k in kcal stands for kilo as in kilocalorie, the daily recommendation isn't actually 2000-2500 calories it's 2000-2500 kilocalories which is 2,000,000-2,500,000 calories
They think people are too thick to understand and think saying 2,000,000 calories would alarm people or something so they dumb it down for us plebs

Hi Gareth I've bought nearly the full range of these for a while and all of them are really good I do add a drop of water tho it's a bit thick for me.

Not a fan of cooking videos but this is not really cooking, just chicken and sauce. I rarely go into Home Bargains but I will give this a try, 99 pence is a very fair price compared with brands like Sharwood’s.

Ideal for a quick meal with leftover meat, very aromatic with a spicy yet fruity flavour. Only critism, not as hot as other Vindaloos. Tried other sauces in their range, never disappointed. Add some chunky sliced onions and Chestnut mushrooms to give extra texture and bulk it out.

Great video Gareth but it looks like you burnt it, you need to water it down a little as its too thick to start with and I always add a little chilli powder and coriander. I buy these curry sachets all the time and I think they are exellent. In fact i've just made on for lunch today with some precooked chicken

Hi Gareth from Spain. 4:36 the small picture on that flatbread wrapper looks like me without my teeth in! At only 99p, I suppose you couldn't go far wrong. Personally I like to make my own curries so's I know what's in them.

I think you would be better apologizing for cliff richard rather than the shadows.
MSG is fine in my book .
99 pence...no way my mrs would eat it as she struggles with 1 chilli rating but for 99p you can just use half of it for yourself maybe even freeze the rest or sadly waste it as 99p for a tasty sauce is as good as it gets. I like proper vindaloo (it's what i order regularly) so a chicken breast and 99p for the sauce is a cheap meal👍

I guess the nasty-looking flatbread (that wasn't flat) was a bust, then, and there wasn't nearly enough sauce - for my liking and no fixins. Keep going, Gareth.

I love Iceland it's reasonable quality, you get chicken breast fillet which is the best, if it says chicken breast and not fillet, it not proper breast probably got other meat added. I would never shop at lidl or aldi they are cheap quality.

Throws away a tablespoon of oil - then eats a sauce that’s 6.4% sugar and two pieces of cheap high-carb white bread 😂😂😂😂
    Got to love the Brits.

Hmm... I went out to H&B and bought one of these curries after seeing your review and had it for tea. It's OK, but i don't think the local indian takeaway is going to be too worried. Not bad for 99p I suppose. Nowhere near hot enough for a vindaloo though.

I always wanted to do my own food comparison channel but my teeth look like that guy from The Pogues, and I’d get nothing but complaints when I bit into anything. I’d give anything to have lovely teeth like yours.

Had the balti sauce from this range last night and tbh thought it was poor, too sweet and not much flavour to it. I even added extra chilli powder, Kasuri Methi, fresh coriander, onion and red pepper to give it a bit more authenticity but was still poor. Still got the vindaloo to try but first impression of the brand not good.☹️

My 1st go at a Vindaloo, was from a tin, Took me nearly 1 hour to eat it! Ended up going cold before i could finish it, The madras i have had a couple of times, and my sister tried it as a sauce for her chips, She couldn't really take it as a curry, at the time though, Dad was pissing everyone off with his mood swings and been snappy at everyone. I said Dad have a try of this, dipped a chip in the madras sauce and gave it to him. He eat it, said it was nice, then when the madras bite kicked in, he said "by that's hot" Sorted his mood swing right out, did it not. I am giggling about it now, as a type about it.
