totally normal replacement item. my 2009 venza 3.5 wp went out at 85k, now going again at 160. Small price to pay for years almost maintenance free. Motor has to be undone from mounts and either lifted or lowered very small amount. cant remember which mechanic told me. Not terribly hard for an average skilled mechanic.
@@johnle6754 Thats the thing some people seem to get real long life out of the waterpumps on the 3.5 others not so much. Heard of 3 year old siennas with 30 thousand miles on them failing. I know currently we got a 172,000 miles on a 2011 sienna no waterpump trouble for the moment but, for last month or so on the first start of a day we will get a light squeak sound for just 30-45 seconds or so but, think I will try a new serpentine belt first and then go further if need be. I am hoping its not a waterpump. I know it could squeak with a failing pump some other toyotas with 3.5s I have seen most of them when bearings start to go bad with a failing pump usually make a knock or rattle or grinding sound such as this one hear.
@@johnle6754 you dont have a way you could do a video on it and start it up and stuff do you. I would just kind of like to see that. That 3.5 for some people is proving to be a good motor.
I just had to have the water pump replaced in my 2014 Avalon with 67,000 miles. What is the average life span, in miles, of the water pump in this vehicle?
mine failed at 100k, i have seen people with 60k. But i have also seen one with 200k+ on original pump. so you are right around the average life span of it.
+john smith Once you get the bolts for the RH engine mount off, chuck a floor jack with a solid wooden block on it and raise it to where it contacts at the edge of the oil pan, once it makes contact, continuing raising the engine but just enough to have clearance to loosen whatever bolts you have left on the water inlet housing and remove. Once the water inlet housing is out of the way, you should have enough room to sneak out the water pump.
I have changed the belt on this engine without doing what JASON T. described. You need to elevate the front of the vehicle and take off right front tire + a shield just inside behind the RF tire.Go to 3rd gen Avalon forum at toyotanation.com

explains very well
Why didn't you do the video showing the removal and replacement? This doesn't help at all dude.
Helped me. Useful for diagnosing the noise

50K
At least it doesn’t tick all the time
If you have a ticker what is the mileage and does the tick resolve after a 20 minute drive?
u sound like a karen with the snark and all.
Change tensioner bearings as well
Would love to know how ones gets a water pump out of a 2GR-FE engine w/o pulling the engine.
+john smith Thanks for such question. Did you find the answer? Thanks.
+victor ustinov Never got one - thanks
