Who wants to see me go to Sagamore?!

    • @TimMeushaw

I took a tour of Sagamore a few months ago with a group of friends. When they took us into the bottling hall, we came across a barrel of rye aging in an ex-Laphroaig cask. Hoping to hear when that one's released.... 🙂

I liked the comparison tasting as opposed to the one-offs. I find them more interesting and engaging. The off-the-cuff nature of this video is also enjoyable because it's instructive to watch you consider and reason out what you're tasting. I hope Sagamore sees this and has you down for a tour and video shoot. That would be very cool. Thanks Bill.

Great review! I tried these around Christmas time at our local store and basically got the same notes as you and did purchase a bottle of the Cask Strength to enjoy over the Holidays. I will definitely be purchasing another as it was very good!

Have you revisited these bottles and still feel the same way?
Sagamore makes some good juice for sure.
Double Oak came out as my favorite and CS came in second.
    At least it did tonight.

Thanks for the review Bill! Honestly I always just walked past Sagamore, the bottle caught my attention but honestly the 40$ price tag kept me away. After seeing this review, kind of happy I did stay away, but might well go and try the cask strength.... Thank you, Bill even if my wallet might not

@@TheWhiskeyDictionary How would you compare Sagamore to Pikesville Straight Rye? I am sure the cask strength would be the one more comparable ?

I've actually never had the two side by side. Good idea! I like them both

@@TheWhiskeyDictionary Excellent. Looks like I will have to get the Sagamore Cask strength soon.

I saw both the port and cognac finished bottles yesterday, thought they sounded interesting and almost walked out with the cognac version but it wasn't really what I wanted at the moment. I think I'll go back and get both in the future. Thanks the review on the other 3 choices.

Great video! I’d love to see you make a “Hall of Fame” playlist with all of your ‘stock it’ whiskeys. It’s hard to keep track of them sometimes.

If you're in the area, you might as well drive down south a little further and stop by DC to taste Joseph Magnus and One Eight. I wouldn't recommend getting a bottle of Joseph Magnus because its incredibly overpriced, but still interesting enough to try!

Coming out of Maryland I was wondering how the cask strength stacked up vs Pikesville, and you touched on that near the end. Any other thoughts between those two? I’m a big Pikesville fan, and I’ve been searching for a good alternative (like you, I don’t see much variance from rye to rye, but this one seems intriguing).

    • @TheWhiskeyDictionary
      @TheWhiskeyDictionary  4 года назад +1

The cask strength version of this is fantastic. I would say it hasn't left the same impression on me as Pikesville but in a head to head I'd probably pick Sagamore

The Whiskey Dic, I tried to listen to it with my headphones after you said this and yeah it sounds really clean with headphones but without them (maybe just for me) it sounded like sound is coming from 5 miles away with a megaphone.
