I agree. They would've made great more songs together. I understand his contract wasn't fair, but he was also young, trying to make it into the music world. And it's obvious with the way she talks about him that she liked working with him because he understood the direction she wanted to go to from the get go, but Tommy got jealous of him and you know how the story goes because she talks about it in the book.

@Anne Day Here you are defending that grown ass man for tricking a teenage Mariah Carey into a fraud contract. Thus taking money from work he didn't even contribute too. Ben wasn't some naïve person, he was much older than Mariah Carey. That man was a musician (struggling btw), that was friends with Mariah's stupid ass ex-brother. He knew what he was doing - and knew that Mariah was going to be a huge star. That's why he got her to sign a contract that would pocket from not only the work they did, but future albums he knew would be hits.

She should have written more with him since he had artist royalties on her first five or so albums. If you're going to have to pay him anyway, you might have well have written some songs for those albums.
@Sne Yeah, but you're going to have to pay for that album anyway. You might as well get some good songs with him. You'll end up making more if they're hits. I think she actually did make songs with him for Daydream, which was at the end of that contact.

@Sne No I'm not. Like I said in a comment a writer with Seal in his name- Manuel Seal.
@Sne Margolis and Seal are both essentially the same to me. They wrote songs for a time period, and she ditched them. Walter and J.D. are essentially the most significant.

It was Tommy's fault as to why Mariah and Ben fell out, he thought they were a couple and made Mariah sign some shady contract when she signed to Columbia while he was the big boss in order to break them up because he wanted to control her
