Lena is one of my favorite characters in this show. Her dynamic with Webby is so much fun and her episodes are so interesting
She is on of my favourites too. I just love all her scenes and her character arc is awesome ae well.

All I can say without being too spoilery is that she was someone who was important in the old DuckTales (as they'd say in this episode, "You had to be there.")
Magica is also a regular reacuring character in the comics
It's always funny when someone DOESN'T KNOW who Magica is. I know her so well that sometimes I forget not everyone grew up with Ducktales.
The whole episode is a parody of The Warriors, my favorite movie from the 70s.

I always forget it’s Kimiko Glenn voicing Lena (aka Nifty in Hazbin, Kiff, Peni in Spider-verse, Izzy in MLP Gen 5 Part 1). You have the cutesy characters and then the edgy supporting character who is one of the best ones in DuckTales 2017.

This was the role that initially put Kimiko Glenn on my radar as a VA and I absolutely love it. 10/10 character. She freaking NAILED the performance.

I really like this episode since it introduces one of my favorite supporting characters in the show, and her chemistry with Webby. I remember after watching this episode and wanting to see more of Lena's character and what she'd bring to the table.

Morality is weird with Lena. That’s the non spoil version since I think it’s shown well here.
Just in this episode she does genuinely care about certain people and clearly has familial issues, but also has questionable actions that makes her sketchy. Unlike Magica who was in the original, Lena is a new character for the reboot and I think one of the best written ones for this because it gives someone for Webby to bounce off besides the triplets and gives her a balance of being her trained badass like her grandma taught her but also lets her be a kid like the triplets

Yep. Although these days I feel like more people are going to recognize the direct-quote homage in the latest John Wick movie than have seen the original cult classic.

I loved that episode. Lena is such a cool character. Also, I like that it showed us more members of the large and weird Beagle family. Interesting fact, some of these Beagle Boys have appeared in the comics.

This episode referenced the movie "The Warriors", with Ma Beagle on the radio, the themed Beagle gangs with different gimmicks, and the one with bottles on his fingers.
With the appearance of "Aunt Magica", we've now been introduced to all of the "Big 3" villains of the original comics and cartoon, who represented three different threats to Scrooge's fortune: Flintheart Glomgold was his main business rival after his title of "Richest Duck in the World", Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys were criminals who wanted to steal his money, and Magica deSpell used magic and supernatural powers to try to steal the #1 Dime. There were other villains who showed up now and then too, but these three were the major ones. The reboot also adds a few new villains, and includes some from adjacent series like "Darkwing Duck" and "TaleSpin".
In the original DuckTales, Ma Beagle had seven sons, named Burger, Bouncer, Babyface, Bigtime, Baggy, Bankjob, and Bugle. Burger, Bigtime, Bouncer, and Baggy were the main ones, while Babyface, Bankjob, and Bugle each only appeared in 7 or fewer episodes. Baggy is the only one of the seven who didn't return in the 2017 reboot. The 1989 5-episode serial "Super DuckTales" introduced an 8th Beagle Boy, Megabyte, who appeared in two episodes in the serial and never again.

A little fun fact.
The background for this episode was based from the iconic 1970s movie The Warriors, in which a gang from Brooklyn have been framed for murder and are being pursued by every other gang in the city.
I like the shout out to the movie and my Home City but I never knew the exact reason why I was there until now I'm finding out that Dana Terrace was involved and it makes all sense. It's her style to do little things like this! Among other little tidbits that you probably have noticed with this episode.
Elijah meet Lena! She is one of the most popular characters in The DuckTales 2017 reboot and voiced by Kimiko Glenn who you know is currently the voice of Nifty from Hazbin Hotel. And one half of the most shipped couple this side of Luminty!
Of course these two girls are too young to be shipped in the way that many fans have done with them. In season one Webby is only 11 years old while Lena is 13, which comes with its own complications for her. And of course since Webby has not met another girl, especially one near her age she is fascinated by Lena as a friend. Where will that fascination go post-series? Well the sky's the limit!
Meantime we have two lonely girls who have bonded in friendship. Although Lena has her own unique baggage to this as you can see.
By the way, How come these kids Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby, can stay all night and no one notices? Also Lena's name translates to mean “light”. Perhaps a foreshadowing for Luz's creation for The Owl House. Striped shirt and all.
I love Lena so much, she always has been one of my top 3 favorite characters in the show along Webby and a character in Season 2 (not going to spoil it for you). 😊

I definitely think the moment where the triplets all say the same thing is meant to be a funny callback to the original series where the nephews were all voiced by the same person and pretty much were exact mimics of each other in terms of personality. Especially since they call themselves ‘unique snowflakes’ 😂😂😂

Okay, small thing... Huey offering his spot for Webby in the kiac was such a sweet thing to have his character do. I guess I'm so used to years of cartoons writing boys as "You can't hang out with us because you're a giiiiiiiiirrrrrl!", it's just nice to see characters be thoughtful in small ways like this.

So Aunt Magica… she’s a very long-running villain from the comics and the original DuckTales. Her full name is Magica DeSpell, her original voice actress was the legendary June Foray. I don’t want to give too much detail here because spoilers.

Lena and Webby are the greatest duo ever in this episode! I can confirm to you that Lena will have a big role throughout this season.
When Mosco watched this episode, she was dressed like Lena. You should have dressed up like Webby for this episode.
Missed opportunity
The cool thing about that moment of Huey, Dewey and Louie all saying the same thing together is that it's a callback to the original show. One of the major changes in this version is the concept that all three are very much individuals. In the original show they were completely identical and interchangeable, only distinguishable by the color they wore. They often spoke together and were even all voiced by the same voice actor.

Fun fact: Since this was produced by Disney around the same time of the MCU movies hitting their peak, Lena was sent by Thanos and his Disney henchwoman Aunt Magica to find an infinity stone in Scrooges mansion. Wasnt very well received because she didnt end up playing a role in the MCU movies.
