What stood out to me in the War section is the absence of mentioning what region Kalos was at war with 3000 years ago.
Unless I missed that having an official answer at some point, one theory poses it was with Galar since SwSh also mentions it had a great war a long time ago, and also making it a cute nod to the fact that IRL France and Great Britain were at war with each other many times throughout history.

One of my theories are that the Pokémon League exists *because* of the war. It was essentially a way to make sure it wouldn't happen again. The league was a way to always have the best of the best protecting a region and by having trainers challenge them and either becoming gym leaders, Elite Four memebers, or even champion, each region would always have a team of elite guardians that could act as both protectors and representants on the world stage when it comes to diplomacy. They are there both to prevent their region from starting wars and to protect them from other regions wanting to start a war.
Lt. Surge and his gym members are all veterans of the most recent war before the formation of the leaugue and as he probably was a prominent soldier during said war it was probably a given to make him a gym leader. It could also have been a diplomatic move since Lt. Surge has been retconned from being from America to being from Unova, making him the only non-native member of the Kanto league. Maybe he got the position in part to display the "good will" between the regions as a political and diplomatic showing, possibly because they were former enemies.

    • @dasamont8274
      @dasamont8274 Месяц назад +10

This could also fit with why Alola is so late in terms of establishing a league. Maybe Alola was a territory Kanto and Unova were fighting over, and Unova initially had control over it, even though it was closer to Kanto geographically. Then after the war it became fully independent, but eventually Unova started to get a little handsy again, so Alola asks for help from Kanto in establishing a league because the Kahunas aren't recognized as strong enough. Which also explains why Red and Blue are there, even though it's said/ implied that they're just on vacation and there to check out the Battletree.

The DLC came out and the theory was proven false, he really was just having a rebellious phase. The best part, in the epilogue Kieran, along with the player and nurse, was the only one not possessed. I always believed Professor Sycamore was Alain’s dad. They look suspiciously similar, and we never see Alain’s parents. Professor Sycamore was also there in person when Alain was in the Master’s Eight (something I’m pretty sure Ash’s mom didn’t even do with her son). Before and after XYZ, where Alain was, Professor Sycamore usually was too.
Perhaps Alain was so distant from Professor Sycamore because as Lysandre manipulated him more and more, Alain thought he needed to be tougher and stronger and not have support from anyone and be swaddled over by his dad as much as I’m guessing he was.

The paradox pokemon actually have a simple solution. It's a classic Bootstrap paradox. Terapagos pulls in the alternate timeline pokemon via the time machine, and at the end of the main story the AI in the time machine goes back/forward. So What if Terapagos could have also dropped copies of the Paradox pokemon in the distant past, when the book(either version) was made. Which is why they pulled those specific pokemon via the time machine.
Basically, because they were selected to be brought into the future, they were found in the past(or rather seen), then the professors were thinking of the pokemon, thus pulling the copies out, thus they somehow ended up in the past. Neat little loop, a paradox if you will.

You missed the lynch pin of the N Zoarark theory. I’m summarizing all this off the top of my head, but here goes. In black and white 2, if you have save data from the first games, you can get memories and flash backs of different characters and their pasts and lives imbetween the two games. In N’s memory, it’s his nurses (or maybe his sisters?) talking about him. However, this is the ONLY FLASHBACK in the ENTIRE GAME where the character it’s about isn’t present. There is, however, an eavesdropping zorua present.

I have this theory that Cubone's skull helmet is actually made out of clay instead of being from their mothers considering that they seem to live whenever I get a Cubone egg from the Daycare. Adding onto this, the PokeDex entries about Cubone's Mother are just tales passed around aside from the ones about Mandibuzz being its natural enemy. Plus, clay is associated with the Ground type what with there being Runerigus.
8:05 I had this fun headcanon that in habitats with both species populations that Marowak live alongside Kangaskhan so in case the parents die out, they'd have someone to look after their offspring.

There is a lot more evidence to the theory that humans are a form of Pokémon. For example, humans can develop themselves both physically and mentally to be able to match Pokémon but only those who focus on one of these aspects can truly excell to the point of matching some increadibly powerful Pokémon. Martial artists can train until they can go toe-to-toe with Pokémons like Machamp and win and some humans develop psychic powers or near magical abilities through dedication and/or obsessions. Humans in the Pokémon universe are clearly far more resiliant than us, able to tank attacks and abilities that honestly should just outright kill them. Pokémon bonds to humans far too easy for being wild animals that it seems to be a unique ability we have that no other Pokémon develops. There have been cases where some humans have been hinted in being able to use Moves or at least something similar to Moves, the HMs more specifically, though these are rare. Remember, In gen 3 a guy is described as as digging or punching his way through a *mountain* just so he can see his girlfriend. He's going through solid rock. Sounds like him using Dig to me. And the Move Tutors seem to be able to use the very moves they teach, like Psychic, Torment, Headbutt, etc.
Most likely, humans are just another species of Pokémon that evolved to be increadibly empathic and adaptable in exchange for being weaker in baseline. Humans have, essentially, kind of trash base stats (aside from maybe Defence and Special Defence) but have immense potential and higher gain from EVs, maybe even a higher EV limit than other Pokémon's 255 per stat. At least that's what I believe.

Regarding the War theory -- Now, OUT of narrative, Pokémon in the first generation was like, a lot _less_ concerned with preserving its own fiction, and Surge was a reference to a stereotype familiar to japanese Seventies kids (which Tajiri and his mates making the game were): That of the now-aged but still gigantic and boisterous American former-soldier who chose to _stay_ in the country after WW2.
"The War", would therefore be -- World War Two.
Then, of course, Pokémon was popular and kept going, and real-world references were slowly scrubbed away.
If we _assume_ that Surge remaining as an American Liutenant in the remakes (or, ig, Unovan Liutenant if they ever decide to patch THAT inconsistency--) means there really was a war --
-- Then World War Two it is. There was a Poké-Hitler. He tried to Toxic an entire laundry list of "undesirables". _And KANTO/JOHTO WAS ON HIS SIDE_

The raticate theory hinges on the idea Blue wouldn’t just switch out a mon on his team, the issue is as we know Blue has caught way more than just 5 Pokemon, since there’s a NPC who looks at how many Pokemon you’ve caught and then compares it to how many Blues caught, so it means he has tonnes of mons not on his team, also considering Rattata doesn’t evolve until level 20 and Blues Raticate is level 16 it might not even be the same Pokemon, he might have just caught a raticate and then switched it for his ratata again making it clear he is happy to switch his team up

1:59 I’d like to add that after the battle, Blue outright tells us he was looking for marowak but couldn’t find any. This likely means that he just left the raticate in the PC so he could train his marowak sooner (as you had to have an empty slot in your party to avoid sending a mon to the box in gen 1) and just never bothered to bring raticate back. This also implies that team rocket nearly hunted marowak to extinction, which I feels like makes for a better theory since it isn’t as much of a stretch, has more evidence, and adds to the story of gen 1 rather that distorting it

  • @giboit.
    @giboit. Месяц назад +8

The paradox pokemon ARE indeed from the very distant past and the very distant future.
You're just confusing timelines with alternate universes.
There's no such thing as a world where, in the present, instead of Hariyama the player and Nemona see Iron Hands roaming around. That isn't the case at all.
All the timelines had the same ancient looking pokemon in the past, the same present day pokemon in the present and will have the same futuristic looking pokemon in the future.
The time machine (and terapagos) just take those pokemon from the very distant past and the very distant future of those other timelines.
And it's also important to point out that the paradox beasts and the paradox swords don't affect the lore of the legendary beasts and the legendary swords because they straight up aren't related to them at all. They just happen to look similar to them. And the same goes for the rest of the paradox pokemon.
The paradox pokemon are essentially just convergent evolutions taken from their respective timelines that just happen to look similar to pokemon from current times but that aren't related at all and that are in the present due to a time loop caused by the time machine. That's what they actually are.
By the way, you're also not supposed to take the info from the occulture magazine as serious facts about them.
The paradox pokemon (at least inside the pokemon world) are meant to be like the cryptids of the pokemon world. Basically like the "big foot" or "UFOs" of our world. Which is further proven by the existence of the occulture magazine. Which is essentially a tabloid.
So the weird names and the primitive and robotic designs make sense since they're supposed to be like their versions of cryptids (that are creatures from cryptozoology and ufology mainly known from anecdotal stories and other claims rejected by the scientific community). Even in the game is stated that the guy that wrote the book about the paradox pokemon got ridiculed and lost his reputation after publishing the book about what he experienced and saw during the expedition to area zero. So this is very likely how they're perceived.
Basically someone sees an Iron hands, doesn't know what it is but notices that it kinda looks like a robotic version of Hariyama, nobody believes it and then tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists from Paldea start saying that it must have been some kind of cyborg. And that tinfoil hat conspiracy theory ends up being part of an article in the occulture magazine and (since it doesn't have any actual info about what they actually are) the pokedex has to resort to reference the description of that shady tabloid or the discredited scarlet/violet book out of pure lack of real info.
Of course despite this perception as cryptids inside the pokemon world, in reality (and as I mentioned before) they're just convergent evolutions taken from their respective timelines that just happen to look similar to pokemon from current times but that aren't related at all and that are in the present due to a time loop caused by a time machine. But most people in Paldea don't know that.
Sorry for the ridiculously long comment. I tend to write a lot sometimes. But I wanted to explain it in the best way possible.

I think it is the only time in the series where it is bluntly explained there was a war.

I much prefer the "Ash is the Evil King of Pokelantis" theory over the "Ash is in a coma theory." If you've seen the anime episode "Battling the Enemy Within" Ash gets possessed by the soul of the ancient king of pokelantis... whom was chasing down Ho'oh in pursuit of immortality, but instead his soul was caught by a Mew. If that episode was Ash's only connection to Pokelantis, it'd just be a fun possession thing. But Ash's Aura abilities? They come from the line of knights and nobility of Pokelantis. Further somehow in the pokemon rangers movie, Ash was able to open the sealed doors to Pokelantis, that would only open for one of royal blood. Sure the movie calls Manaphy the prince of the sea, but he didn't open the doors, Ash did. Even if Ash isn't literally the King of Pokelantis, just with the evil soul and mind cleansed from him... he certainly is descendant from the guy

I think the "hidden lore" in kanto and places like paldea and kalos are more cut content or things they themselves didn't plan out so they leave it blank to open back up one day to possibly fit with something else down the line. They still never revisit these things though. It is too bad that Pokémon never answers many things yet they still imply there are important things without providing the importance. Like with the dark legendaries in paldea, they have a VERY surface level lore of the king, they put ruins ALL OVER the region making it like a defining motif for the region, and never expand or make it meaningful. They really cannot tell a story and instead just wasted a whole lore line that is overt and implied to be super important. I think it is horrible time management and a lack of caring about the product they produce. I always think of that scene in elf where James Caan is a crotchety buisnessman running a kids book publishing. They had an error where about 5 pages near the end needed to be reworked and reprinted. He yells to just remove the end and ship the book as is because it doesn't matter how the peach got it's puppy back(or something about the main plot of the book). This is pokemon. I don't care why these staffs are all over to secure these ruinous mons in place, nor why the gold coin mon are all over the ruins nor the effects releasing all of them nor should we provide an end plot to the teacher asking and wanting them for herself. The BABIES GOT TO CATCH THEM! SHIP THE GAMES! XD. lol. It really is offensive what they know people will still buy. oof

Blue's Raticate: The moment when you see he's changed his team is meant to be a learning moment for the player, that some of the early Pokémon don't have the stats to hold out in the late game and you should try to switch up your team too. Raticate, Beedrill, Butterfree, and others are all early game Pokémon that fell off pretty hard in gen 1 without trying super hard to make them work.
Humans are Pokémon: There's a lot more evidence for this. Throughout the series you fight different trainer classes, and some of these line up with Pokémon Types. We see humans able to break or move rocks (Fighting), and we see humans able to use psychic powers (Psychic). The way I like to think about it is that humans and Pokémon are divergent evolutions from an ancient ancestor. I'm not sure if that's Mew, as Mew might be the earliest example of a Pokémon separate from early humans. It's an ancient split in genetics, like how humans and other animals can all be traced back to the primordial ooze if you go back far enough, the same is true for humans and Pokémon. And about the marriage thing: certain Pokémon are shown to be incredibly intelligent, such as Alakazam, and then there's the human-like egg group and others shaped similarly that, using this theory, would have closer genetics to humans than other Pokémon would. It makes sense that there would be some degree of inter-mingling, which we can also assume would happen if humans met sentient aliens in the future.

Ok so my favorite theory is that AZ is the sole reason for Area Zero’s creation
So in the story of the Pokémon War in X and Y we hear about how AZ fired the ultimate weapon but we never hear what it caused. All we hear is that it ended the war. And if we’re going on the geographical side of things then Paldea would be right next to Kalos as IRL Spain is right next to France. So the ultimate weapon could’ve landed in the middle of Paldea causing The Great Crater to be made. And as a little added piece of evidence if you abbreviate Area Zero you get AZ.
This ties in with another theory that AZ’s Floette is a Paradox Pokémon. Its design is different but not different enough to where you can’t recognize the Pokémon. And if you check the wiki page for this Floette its form is classified as Floette (Eternal Flower). Paradox Pokémon have names like that like Brute Bonnet, Scream Tail, or Iron Leaves. So “Eternal Flower” could have been the first Paradox Pokemon.
