  • I am so happy to have received this beautiful Wheeltop Electronic Groupset, the EDS-TX version in rim/cable road version, to update my bike from the current mechanical set up to a wireless electric shifting. It is remarkable that there is still an option for rim brake or cable discs users to be able to upgrade an older bike to the latest wireless shifting technology.

    I have this groupset on my rim brake TCR, it's going flawlessly for the last 3 months and still on the first charge. My set only came with 1 charger cable though and I notice yours had 2, I contacted Wheeltop and they said 1 was standard, I'd like a second one to be able charge the two parts at the same time but I couldn't get one.
    My experience; 1) The app is not good and initial calibration is messy, could be improved by using a +/- for calibration rather than numeric. 2) The installed coin batteries in the levers are best replaced with some good quality ones. 3) The dust covers for the charging ports could be improved. 4) Once calibrated the shift quality is good, close to Di2 level on the rear mech but a bit slower on the front. I can compare as I have Di2 on my Bianchi. 5) Battery life is excellent. 6) Subtle branding is great and the lever design and ergonomics is fantastic. 7) Exceptionally easy to fit the set to any frame. 8) Shimano chain worked better than a KMC one on my frame in terms of noise and shift performance. 9) They've updated the app and firmware so that it now integrates with Wahoo / Garmin for gear selection (but they order the gears in reverse so need set it correctly in the Garmin / Wahoo app) which is great that they listen to the customers.
    I'm interested to see if your experience is the same as mine, I think that you'll get on great with this groupset. It's a really good option to fill the gap vacated by Shimano / SRAM.

      Great points, I can already see that some of the app translations are not easy to understand and the charging port covers take a little bit longer to close. Overall it seems a very nice product, hopefully I will be able to get it running asap

    Ciao Federico! I own a beautiful Basso Venta Rim Sea Blue for which I purchased an EDS TX Groupset last month. One of the biggest advantages of this groupset upgrade besides the additional comfort and ease of maintenance of an Electronic Groupset is elimitaning the 2 cables of a mech group. It does make the bike quite more cleaner and even though the aero gains are also there but minimal, the asthetic upgrade is a great one.
    Having before a mechanical Shimano 11spd R8000 I wandered for some time about a Shimano R8150 upgrade but it was quite an expense to make the upgrade of just the components (Shifters, Front, Rear Derraileur, and the additional internal batteries and cables that a Shimano electronic groupset requires.
    For a third of what the Shimano would've costed I was able to make the upgrade with the EDS TX!!! Also I think the internal battery and cables setting is a thing of the past. This groupset being fully wireless is so easy to set it up on the bike, no hussle of internal cables routing or worring about if your cable detaches while on the road you'll lose the ability to shift.
    I hope you can also enjoy yours as much as I'm doing with mine, this Rim version I'm sure will be a hit since us Rim brake lovers are quite all over the world. Greetings from Colombia and keep the great content you make coming!

    Hi, sorry this is out of context from the video, but because you’re one of the few rim brake riders left, I wanted to ask you which wheels would you recommend to someone who’s a beginner cyclist but are an upgrade to some stock wheelset

    • @fede1275
      @fede1275  2 месяца назад +1

      @@Caunion7 Sure, carbon wheels for me were a huge improvement for the performance and speed. I had a set of cheap 50mm Prime wheels and worked very well. Now I'm riding the Winspace Lun Hyper 23 R45 and I love them. Bit more expensive, but very light and great braking. If you can afford them they are great. Some other RUclipsr offer discount codes, like Hambini or Peak Torque on them.

      I like a mechanical set up, but I can see the appeal of electric. For a wireless set up that is cross compatible I believe that is still a good offering, especially for upgrading an existing bike. Maybe less if you are building a new disc frame set up.
