when I was a kid and on my dads phone I would watch a lot of your videos, this video in particulary was one of my favorite along with videos of polish and clean cars. I also really loved your iconic red car.
What a life, working on cars, making his dad happy, educating hobbyist/ home mechanics and making some coin to boot. Basically you got your dad a Jag for free.
You can get more by parting it or selling it yourself. But the question is how much are you willing to sacrifice for the convenience of pawning it off for a new car right then and there?
Dealers don't just need to make money. They would also have to pay for labor to strip the car, which eats into their ability to turn a profit. So if you want to make more by parting out your car, do it yourself, OR find a friend to help you strip it and share the profits with him. Regardless, you probably aren't going to get more than $500 out of your car without investing your time.
Just some math on this: Chris probably spent ~1-1.5 working days (8-12 man-hours) stripping the car himself. Google is telling me that low estimates for mechanics are $70-90 per hour. At that rate, it would cost at least $560 to strip the car (on the low end).
This made me laugh. I just hate all the crap people gave him about the Maserati. He canceled a video because people were shaming him because he cares about his dad and was able to give his dad an incredible gift? It just like all the jokes about not seeing his face. It’s not about that, the channel is about DIY and the Maserati video SHOWED us that you could have a luxury car of your own for a fraction of a fraction of the cost. It’s about doing things yourself and giving back both to yourself and other hence all the charity stuff he has done over the years.
@@dmurray91 I loved watching the Maserati video. It shows how luxury cars depreciate far quicker than regular cars and how that can be used to your advantage. I've researched cars in-depth for a year now and one thing that really stood out is the need to "get ahead" of the game -- that is, to make buying your next vehicle financially easier than the last time. Buying used and avoiding the initial depreciation cost is one of many ways to get ahead.

You seem like a great son Chris! You got your Mom her dream car and you restored your dads car. That’s so awesome dude. Very inspirational! I love your how-to videos.

On the drive shaft I think you meant out with the old and in with the slightly less old. Lol 😆

To be honest. I’m learning and taking in a lot from all your videos. Thank you.
What a life, working on cars, making his dad happy, educating hobbyist/ home mechanics and making some coin to boot. Basically you got your dad a Jag for free.
I just watched all the videos from this series. So you basically just got a Jaguar for FREE!
I actually made money hahaha. Glad you enjoyed the series!

ChrisFix you really are talented and gifted when it comes to cars. Much respect to u👍
Plus 1300 $ or so
Why dealers tell me my car is only worth $500 max, for the entire car.. You make it seem like I could get more Chris.
Because dealers resell and they wanna make money too
You can get more by parting it or selling it yourself.
At that rate, it would cost at least $560 to strip the car (on the low end).
dont sell your car to a dealer unless you want it fast.
I love the fact the most of your power tools are all Milwaukee. I’m from Milwaukee Wisconsin and that’s really cool.
cool
Out with the old, in with the Maserati
He still goes back to the old videos!!
Lol
