- KEXP 90.3 FM Seattle / KEXP. ORG present Icelandic band Of Monsters and Men performing "Little Talks" in their living room in Reykjavík during Iceland Airwaves 2010. Recorded on October 16, 2010.
that last line, , , " ILL SEE YOU WHEN I FALL ASLEEP" is absolutely heart breaking, ............ , this song has a, , sadness about it, ,
john van den broek , I feel this song is about a suicide , it seems like it’s two friends in conversation with one saying sorry for taking their life but I will see you again one day . This is my interpretation of it an yes I get lumpy in the throat when that line is sung
My interpretation is that the guy dies and the girl is in turmoil until she finally decides to kill herself to join him.

This song is actually about a wife who lost her husband. it's so sad.
I love seeing / hearing the raw versions of these songs.
Good bands with good songs sound great without all of the studio detailing, and this is a brilliant example.
*Listen to 'Peacock Affect - Autumn'*
By far the best version of this song. One little room, six musicians, six instruments and an accordion solo. Perfect.
Love seeing the marriage of so much talent without any added nonsense. Pure unadulterated talent. Awesome
I love Iceland for giving us this band
+Workin0nit Seems like a really great place, we have a Icelandic student in one classes at uni, he's one of the one coolest people I've met.
+UnhandledException They are certainly not bending as much down to society standards as others.
And they gave a big FU to the megabanks a few years back.....something other nations should learn from.
Workin0nit
Look at Sòley... she’s absolutely beautiful.
7 years later still coming back to listen to these folks. IMO they sound so much purer live than a studio cut.
Still listening in May 2024. I love this version and the band.
It's a love story between a guy and a woman... She has Alzheimer and is losing her memory. He's losing his love. This is not just a song. These are lives being told here and thats amazing.
As a nurse i can say that your comment absolutely fits.
Thanks bud
No the other guy is dead, she just misses him
This was their beginning. 2022 and they’re even better.
This is a real band... Everyone can sing and can play an instrument and there not insane. So this is fantastic.
I always thought it was interesting how their accents disappeared when they sang!
*Most people's do when singing in English whether it's their native tongue or not*
They rehearse lines until they get it perfect, thats why =P
Listen to Inna speaking English vs singing it.
@Dick Johnson dude... what?
@Dick Johnson you dont "buy" an accent. you can learn one maybe. but u cant buy one.
Sometimes you worry if a band sounds just as good live as they do on the radio, and get disappointed when the live version isn't up to par. However with this band, they are truly awesome. I love this song, and they preformed it perfectly. True raw and amazing talent.
The accordionist here totally rocks. Awesome work.
I love how when ragnar or nanna talk they have a really strong Icelandic accent but when they sing it just totally disappears
Music is universal
no, it does not... but thats cool
@@yotas1 agreed. There's an obvious lilt.
In this first public version you can hear all the instruments with all the details they planned in the beginning, it's simply amazing how lyrical storytelling can be so fulfilling. Awesome
What a great live cut. Thank for putting that together... I love how they kept smiling during song, you can tell they were even impressed with their performance ;)
1:49 lol he played the wrong note. Looked around smiling after to see if anyone had noticed
this band is ever so cheerful in their own way it actually brings me tears
Honestly probably among the best "living room" performances I've seen. It's pretty incredible to me that they can sound so close to the original recording in an unplugged sort of performance like this. That's a true test of talent. The ones who are really good don't need the finishing of the recording studio to sound great.
I love the little face drawn on the person who's playing the accordion's hand :) Overall amazing, beautiful song. Sounds just as great live.
that was LEGIT!!! They sound just like the recording which means no auto tune was used here. I LOVE THEM EVEN MORE NOW!!!!
wow, I still remember how this video first introduced me to them in 2010. The band has come such a long way since then!! :')
These people have something that hits a nerve,,,,,Their voices are just amazing to me.....
Hey! Hey! Hey!
I don't like walking around this old and empty house
So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear
The stairs creak as I sleep,
It's keeping me awake
It's the house telling you to close your eyes
And some days I can't even trust myself
It's killing me to see you this way
'Cause though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Hey! Hey! Hey!
There's an old voice in my head
That's holding me back
Well tell her that I miss our little talks
Soon it will all be over, and buried with our past
We used to play outside when we were young
And full of life and full of love
Some days I don't know if I am wrong or right.
Your mind is playing tricks on you my dear
'Cause though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Hey!
Don't listen to a word I say
Hey!
The screams all sound the same
Hey!
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
You're gone, gone, gone away,
I watched you disappear
All that's left is a ghost of you
Now we're torn, torn, torn apart,
there's nothing we can do,
Just let me go, we'll meet again soon
Now wait, wait, wait for me, please hang around
I'll see you when I fall asleep
Hey!
Don't listen to a word I say
Hey!
The screams all sound the same
Hey!
Though the truth may vary
this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Hey!
Don't listen to a word I say
Hey!
The screams all sound the same
Hey!
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
wow!! this just goes to show its these kinds of radio stations that really have their ears to the ground !
Great song. Loved it the first time I heard it. Iceland you rock. Little Talks, don't loose your innocence. And an accordion...holy doodle that is awesome. All the best from Canada's Yukon Territory
They sound so good live
This is what makes me proud of being icelandic.
You should be proud, of your beautiful country and wonderful people. I can't wait to visit again.
It’s hard to believe this video is 13 years old. Time certainly flies by when you’re having fun!
Bands these days should be able to play like this. Just pure instruments not voice mods or sound boards
i loooooooooooooooove this version
this will always be the way I remember this song. KEXP gave me so much good music over the years its hard to fathom.
This song is beautiful
thanks for music, make me smiling.and this is first class :)
Me too :D
Happened onto this song on the radio and have been stuck on it ever since! Truly can't get enough of this song:) I'd they sound this good live then the record will be outta sight:)
Icelandic people are just so perfect!!! Maybe just because I live there😏😂 Elska þetta lag og þið hafið náð svo langt!!! Ég er mjög stolt af ykkur 💖👌
It's too cold in Iceland though
ICELAND
I have never been there but I agree. one day I will visit. would love to
love the music! the people seem cool to :) Like to see it someday
Fantastic.
never gets old... pure talent :)
Richtige live Musik , hier zeigt sich was Sänger und Musiker können. Große Klasse !!!
0:19 He has a hand friend.
:))) funny
I fecking love this. That's all.
One of the few artists that can actually sing their songs as perfectly live and without all the edits.. So much respect for them and this song. Amazing!
I love the harmonica here...
they took out the trumpet :(
This was recorded in 2010! They were barely a band then... no trumpet player at the time.
KEXP just found this video, who was the genius who add the trumpet?
KEXP This is why I love KEXP. You guys give small bands a chance to play live on the air and sometimes they really hit it big! Amazing that this recording is from over a year before the song's official release.
Real instruments, real voices, real band unity. I'm in love
So you see, we Icelanders don't suck at everything
XD
You are the best people in the world, i would love to be Icelander.
Of course you guys don't suck, you even have Bjork! ♥
You mean those 6 in that there living room?
Indeed.
Did anyone else notice the accordion player had a face drawn on his thumb/hand?
Love Love Love this...very much! Its just a great 'feel good' song. So glad they are finally up there...where they belong.
So fuckin good!
So Sam just left the night watch and joined to a band
i fucking LOVE it when you listen to a song and you just CAN'T get it out of your head!! Robert Morris - Na Na Na is also EXACTLY that kind of simple, freaking catchy song that sticks with you whether you want it or not
I never knew Sam the slayer could sing too!
It's weird at the end not hearing a thundering applause
This song was so good. Keep to listen this song everyday... wish all of u, all the best!!
i play accordion since i was like er.. 8? till i was about like...15?
i owned like 3-5 Parrot accordions.
I want to stand on a table and dance. Join me!!
ME TOO! every time I watch it!!!
💃
I am can't stop listening to this song. Excellent.
where is that beautifull girl who plays trumpet
This was recorded in 2010. Sorry, Ragnhildur (trumpet) joined the band in 2012.
I call dibs on the girl ;-)
+Brittany Smith nanna is a real beauty isn't she.
On my way to southern state. Stop by for having my breakfast while listening this lovely song. What a great !!
there icelandic right?
Yeah
***** they're dutch
didnt they talk dutch in the beginning?..
ahh.. yh im dutch and they talk dutch there... idk now man xD
***** If you mean '' Einn , tveir , þrír , fjór ''then yeah its icelandic, basicly one two three four.
3 guitars to play the same 4 chords...
+Luis Collante
jajajaj, hard, but true
That's why i like them. They look like a group of friends singing some songs in a camp.
its a jamming session man :D
I suppose they'd prefer to play instruments as well rather than just singing. It sounded like a great performance anyway
Backup of backup
Love this song just heard last week on the radio and I just have to say. Awesome! Just Beautiful! They will make it to number one in the US. Just wait and see!!!
its amazing how every person in this band is so important to the.......thanks for a great song
didn't think it was possible for a band to sound better live than in their recording, but Of Monsters and Men always do it justice xx
My Dad just passed away in October and this song makes me think of my Mother all by her lonesom self in that big house...Miss you Dad,,rest well..
Such a catchy song but will still listen to it over and over again
it’s so magical creating music with other people and i can feel it watching this video
its great to see them smiling so much just to play this music. i know i can never be upset when i listen to this song. it's just too great.
These guys are great! This couple voices are perfect combination. Very talented!
Heard this song on the radio for the first time the other day. Fell in love with it. Gonna listen to there other songs
I love how they all smile at eachother like 'good job'
bravo bravo fantastic , no sound effects , just true talent , hank you
Wow these kids are amazing! great voices, good luck and hope to hear more great music from this wonderful band..
From Turkey🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷 with love... this is so nice.
Biji Kurd u Kurdistan
I think one of the reasons they are so good is because it's clear how good of friends they all are. They seem like they have a lot of fun creating and playing their music together.
October 16 2010 the world knew what quality music sounded like thanks to OMAM and KEXP for sharing. Carrying on the Icelandic Tradition once again!
There's not many song where they are better in person vs after the studio. This it definitely one that sounds better like. This is from a person that only ever heard the radio version before this masterpiece! 100%❤ Happy vibes vs neg ones for the future songs
Pure raw talent from the country with more hidden gems than an African diamond mine ! ...
I love the fact that they have the same studio sound versus live in a living room. That kind of sound is so rare these days. Hats off to this band! I typically enjoy the sound of classic rock but these guys have a wonderful refreshing sound to them that sets them apart from many modern bands in my opinion.
Such a sad song made to sound happy. I love string bands and the stories they tell…
Still one of the greatest songs ever. I don’t even know why. Just love it
Same!
When this came out i was actually in Iceland and it was playing on the radio everywhere and the song made my trip so much better
When you listen to this song all your problems fly away. Beautiful.
Love songs where you can hear the instruments. Thumbs up for live music
I never heard of these guys until I saw them on PBS by chance. I've still never heard them on the radio, never seen them on network tv. No one I know has ever heard of them. I wish I could turn on my car radio and hear music like theirs.
they sound just like they do on studio versions, great talent....to sound just like that without being filtered and manipulated and cleaned up, doesn't need it. i like these guys...
I love this song
Mother of God, you guys made the best music i ever listened.
Man I hear this song everywhere now! And I think "man I was jamimg to them before they were cool" but glad to hear u guys are getting big love all your songs and love you guys
“Some days I think I am wrong when I am right. Your mind is playing tricks on you my dear”
❤️
Why do people dislike this. If they don't like the best band ever than they shouldn't watch the videos
Excellent! What a terrific sound they have- and from a living room!
Saw them last night for the first time, completely by chance, on Saturday Night Live...unfriggin believable...best sound to come along in quite some time!!!...
It appears that only glorious songs come out of this tiny but absolutely great nation.
Keep it up Icelanders!
Yep, Same. I literally cant stop listening to it.
It's great to see a band that sounds just as good sitting around playing like they do on record. I normally don't like any music that my wife shows me, but this is a great band.
Man their voices are amazing and perfectly compatible for each other
Amazing that that kind of sound can come out of a living room!
Finally a true live version of a famous hit! I am thrilled! And the guys are doing a really great job!
I remeber watching this vid after 10.000 likes. one of my faves. well done guys. much success for the future
