First off, awesome to see Mikey hit balls and great that he is down to a 3 hcp!! Big achievement! As a fitter, when you hear the goal is scratch, how do you steer someone like Mikey towards something that is going to make it easier to hit that goal? Seems like that Mikey would be a prime candidate for T100/i230/King Tour/PXG CB/TC-201 category vs straight blades or a lower spinning model like the ZX7 or models with no help like the Z Forged?
I'm a scrapper that borders on sweeper, and I love the sole design on my Srixon irons. I built up both a set of ZR-30 and i506 forged. A lot of Bridgestone and Tourstage irons also have a beveled sole design that works great for me too.
Hit my brand new ZX7 II irons yesterday for the first time - Mint. Simple as that. The biggest difference from my old blades is, they hold distance in mishits. Feel is 10/10
Love this video. Funnily enough Ian fitted me for ZX5 4 iron, 5-PW ZX7, but thought the Z-Forged II for my 9 and PW would have worked for me as well. Not a 3 handicap like Mikey, but love how the whole team thinks so much differently than other fitters about ways to build a bag.
Really great to see Mikey hitting balls and on top of that he is starting to become more comfortable in front of the Camera… Great golf talk as always 👍👌
Mikey is hitting it great! I think I am one of many would love to see a comparison between Accra TZi Iron Shaft and the Steelfiber Iron shaft. Please make it happen!
Mikey read my mind I have been looking at the srixons for my set of TZi the that are sitting bare. The zx7 and new forged are soo underrated for feel and workability
Pls make comparison between all the new heavyer Graphite iron shafts. Really the new norm. Also the brands starts offering these either stock/small upcharge.
Look a bit like the old T zoid. I play the z965 blades and coming from some 2005 titleist 735 cm combo set, the srixon blades are not at all intimidating - long blade, high toe, thicker top line than the old "game improvement" cavity backs of the 90's. Lots of bounce and a thin sole. And more importantly the come out low with lots of spin and feel absolutely amazing to play with. It is a game after all, it's ok to have fun playing what you want even if you are not scratch.
I have just implemented ZX7/ZFII combos lol. Me and Mikey are similar speeds. To be honest the topline on the blades may be thicker than the T100s I came from lol. I also play Steelfiber 115s which is weird.
The V-Sole on my old PTX where very nice and allowed for great turf interaction. I never got a change to play the Iron version but Ian did hit them and has a great video on channel in regards to them.
Gents as you both know, Mikey will need many hours on the range, in addition to rounds on the course, to dian in his proper utilization of these new irons given their configuration. That said, I question the equipment change....sure it is nice to have new equipment, yet the time needed to hone in ones skill with them, in order to lower one's handicap is pushed even further. Best of luck. All that said, we all look forward in seeing come "on the curse" content. Cheers!
Can you suggest a 3 wood shaft for me. Mizuno STZ. Is equipped with Fujikura high launch low spin. Bleeds 15 yards right. Feels too flexable. Hitting HZD smoke RDX 6.0 black in driver. Wanting same kick with higher launch.
Glad to see graphite with stout handle in 115 weight. Playing the MMT 105 but they seem a bit too low spin on top of my 790s. Curious about the new thump irons as well. Will you review them soon?
Perfect example as to why amateurs shouldn't play blades with very few exceptions. I appreciate the gear head in people but never understand how non elite golfers feel like they can't look at a little topline or offset.
Just play what you can hit and what you enjoy. If you’re not on tour what does it matter? These blades are not as unforgiving as you think, and “game improvement” irons are not as game improving as you think.
@flipspearing Seriously, I do not understand all of these people that complain about blades being only for elite players. I'm scratch, but nowhere near the best ball striker in my irons. I'm always a club-length or two behind everyone else with my irons, but I know exactly what my distances are going to be with the blades, and I make up the distance gap with a strong fairway wood game (3w and 7w). Chasing distance with irons is a fool's errand in my book
Nice setup Mikey! Are those parallel tip shafts? Did you ream the hosels? Also wondering if you weighed the heads? I noticed while reshafting that my ZX7's are a bit on the light side. Are the MkII's heavier (Miura weight!) ? So many questions...&....LOL at all of the haters who think blades should be forbidden unless you're a tour player. You guys need to get a life! 😂
I’m stuck. I want to build a three iron/util at 20. It’ll be the zx srixon but I can’t he decide between Fuji pro 115 (it’s what’s in my 4 zx util, ventus hb black 10 tx or the new axiom in a 105 or 120. I hit the 4 115 ft in the air so I’m not really worried about a height issue . The 18 for some reason just was not as easy to hit and I stuck a uw in the bag that’s way more versatile.
The long irons are airborne for a longer period of time. Why wouldn’t wind increase errant flight patterns? With increase wind, higher flight misses to the left, short, right and long are multiplied. Can a adjustment on clubs be helpful? A skilled player adjusting, lie, path and ball type be the primary difference maker. My thoughts with no scientific evidence to back up my statement.
Some guys like these types of irons for the love of the game and actually playing a course. Not going out with these big forgiving irons and just hit a ball with out a care and it’s in the fairway/green. These clubs put the art in the craft. I love them (most of the time 😜). Play the cb’s every now and then but true blades make you really get stuck in on a round or they will punish you. Plus the feel. If you have felt it, you know. Flush one of these and you are addicted to finding that feeling all the time.
@@sonysand8202 so are you saying because Brooks plays ZX7 Mkii Mikey should play a more game improvement designed golf club?? Because if you are your thinking is flawed!!
@@ianfrasergolf flawed? Fitter/5 time major winner. Full time job fitting clubs/tour pro. The flaw is the negative attitude towards “thick topline” “too much offset”.
Loving my 1 gen Zx7's with Modus 120. But I only play up to a 6. Hybrids after that. But those irons.... Feel, feedback. How they cut through the turf. Habit forming. Worse than drugs.
great to see you guys back, I was having withdrawal

Absolute class. Once the bags are actually finalised for real a on course video of you and Mikey playing with your choices is long overdue big man

Aaah, the dangers of working in a top-tier fitting shop. Way to go, Mikey! I'd need a second job if I worked there.
😂😂
I just got the z forged and zx7s in a combo set myself. Best irons I’ve ever hit
I like seeing Mikey’s swing
That is so cool that you are thinking about the tipping depending on the irons. I love that idea!
Custom 🎉🎉🎉
How much did you tip them when building
When i saw them online, i thought nahhh. In person, the mkii blades had me frothing. The details ❤

Thank you. Trying!!! Don’t want to let the haters down 😂
Mikey what TZi shaft would best replicate the modus 120 R, TZi 105 soft tipped?
Back at it!!!
Over/Under on how many times I watch the graphite iron shaft comparison?
4.5? 😂😂😂
Reminds me of the old Bridgestone blades

Help! As a steep AoA player (PW -7*), I’m looking to try something that can compliment a ZX7 or Z-Forged II in my wedges. At least the GW and SW

Be curious to look in depth where if any is the best cut off for each blend, zx5-7 & blades
Please test the KBS TGi too.
How similar is the v-sole on the srixon to the Hogan's? I love the sole and turf interaction with my Hogans but, you know, out of business.
Much more pronounced than the Hogan’s. Higher bounce I believe.

I wish they offered these heads in lefty I’d have them immediately
Who forges Srixon's irons?
I play the ZX7 and I threw in the towel and got a ZX Utility 4 iron
I really like the camber on Srixon but I thought they looked huge up top
Welcome back.
What did you like better about these over the axiom
Thoughts on shaft comparison with Modus 105 stiff?

Mikey is awesome but if Brooks doesn’t play a combo set why would he ?
Mikey doesn't play for the same reasons that Brooks does.
Its called ego. The one thing fitting cant fix.
@@sonysand8202or given he isn’t playing for the gains Brooks is, maybe he just wants to game the forged because he likes them?
Man what I would do to have his ball flight issues haha. My over the top, then hang back so I dont tomahawk swing would love his lack of spin!
No sexier combo set on the market at the moment 🤤
Agreed
Nothing against Srixion but if you’re a low spin low launch player there are better options out there.
Also test out the macgregor mt86 and mt86 pro
