Great loft sleeve design by cobra which has dealt with many of the other manufacturers limitations. Should be a universal loft sleeve between all the manufacturers.
For me personally, these adapters are a key technology. I'm so sensitive to how the driver looks at address that I've found the look of a driver at my correct loft might not suit my eye so need to find a lower (or higher) lofted driver and then adjust the adapter settings to get the look at address that I like with the proper loft/lie setting. This makes the fitting process essential as well as a good fitter who will take the time to work through this process. In the absence of a good fitter, its a frustrating search for something that takes too much time to figure out to make worthwhile. My only concern about this is if golfers will be able to have these clubs fit in studios who use universal adapters for all of their drivers. Hopefully Club Champion and other brand agnostic studios will all offer a post-fit session to dial in the adapter. If not, then this technology will be vastly underutilized. If Cobra themselves get into the fitting game and offer a dialed-in fitting as part of the sales process, they might have something to differentiate themselves.
I'm going to miss these "geek out" technical episodes where you really dive into the fitting process and how the equipment and tools can be used to get you there.
I have a Cobra Speedzone that I really love. Wouldn't mind a fitting session with one of the new Cobra's to see if I can find any improvements. There are so many settings I feel like I'd never really find it's potential on my own at the range.
@ it does not take a rocket scientist to know this adapter requires pinpoint precision ball striking to notice any difference compared to the adapters that have been used for last year
I feel like this is great for loft and lie adjustments, but lie angle has less of an effect on left/right direction with driver than face angle does. For other adapters that don’t keep the face square (no smartpad) the face can open or close which I think can help more for left/right direction. Those ones aren’t as good if you need a true loft change (since it’s more of a face direction change), but they seem better for the person fighting a slice than a lie adjustment.
The way I see this adapter as a high handicapper is I can get the setting that seems to work best for me at the fitting with my current swing. As I hopefully gets better and more consistent I might need a different setting. That scenario could play out several times over the life of the club and my swing. Without this adapter I would be looking a t a new shaft/head or both each time my swing made an incremental improvement.
Thay say you can adjust loft and lie by 2 degrees, but not at the same time? When they went to the most extreme it was only 1.4deg in each. And with the heads being 9 and 10.5. Wil some of the setting now make those clubs completely the same in certain settings? can a set both up as 9.5 1deg upright and them play just the same?
The internal weighting in the LS and X are different between the 9 and 10.5, so even at similar loft they would have different spin, etc. Not a 1-to-1 match.
So happy to hear this opinion. Everyone else on RUclips are whining about it like children. Cough Rick, James, Cough.... 😂 Imagine complaining about something that has zero effect on you
One of the cogs is still fixed so shaft orientation or grip alignment will be an issue for those of us who care. Need to ask Cobra why they didn't follow Callaway and Titleist and allow both cogs to rotate which seems like such an easy fix.
Most after a fitting would have the grip orientated to that setting. If I change seting on a club I own with a garage compressor it takes me 2 mins to turn the grip.
For what it’s worth, Titleist doesn’t allow both cogs to move, so the grip will rotate in certain settings as well. Callaway is the only one that doesn’t.
