      @Grugg you don't get it. There is no betrayal by them. They warned them all DO NOT TRUST THE BOLSHEVIKS. THEY warned them they'd come back and take the food again. Saying "you fools, youll be working all day for a cup of milk from your own cows!" Not even they could have forseen the Holodomor! Not even they could predict such cruelty. It's one thing to fight on a battlefield. It's quite another to work someone to death denying them any sustanenance!
      Condemnation from the singer isn't for Makhno if there is any at all. It's grief and longing. Knowing how much better...REMEMBERING HOW MUCH BETTER IT WAS. Nay, the singer believed in them.

    • @KS-bo5bg
      @KS-bo5bg Год назад +1

      Look how quick to "correct" me when I didn't even use "they" in a derogatory way, whatsoever. The bottom line is? You can't claim any more than I can what Nestor Ivanovich Makhno's gender is, as they're dead, and not here to say one way or the other. As far as evidence one way or the other goes? Can't make that argument since survival often necessitates the hiding of gender and sexual minorities, so there's no way to be certain they couldn't be trans. So, back off, because anyone who could pass as female well enough to recon their enemies in battle without being spotted has at least a chance of actually being a woman.

    Huliaipole is still free. With this recent outbreak of the full invasion, Russian forces did try to assault the town but were halted around 10-ish km away back in 2022. It was never taken by Russian forces as of 30-06-2023. Russia forces didn't even get to touch the actual city with troops yet, just shells.
    The mayor of the town uses Makhnovist imagery(patches saying "Greetings from the boys of Makhno's Town"), and some of the troops participating in the defense were at some point, anarchist units. The city still stands strong, endures shelling but fights on. Recently the town was the staging ground from some localized counter attacks as part of the greater Counter-Offensive. I seen some of the Kayfariki Group lads posting about it aswell a while back. "Serhiy Yarmak, the mayor of Huliaipole, reported that local Ukrainian forces had named their defensive positions after Nestor Makhno".
    Makhno's Town still stands strong. Power to the Anarchists fighting for independence and anti-imperialism. Making Makhno proud, lads.

    To all my Anarchist comrades, I appreciate you and your dedication in the face of incredible opposition. While I do personally believe a transition state is necessary, I also acknowledge the danger of it and hope we can work together in the future to reduce government control as much as possible, and eliminate it as soon as possible. We cannot win without eachother. Long live the United Front! Long live the combined power of the revolutionary left. We can't do it alone.

    Btw,that's wrong translation of song name.
    Actually,it translates like"Why wasn't it work?" or somehow like this. This song means that it failed there at Civil War time period. Not that it didn't work at all.

    • @dingdongpo
      @dingdongpo 5 лет назад +29

      The translation "Why didn't it work" does fit that description, don't worry. "Didn't" can work as past-tense. An incorrect translation would be something more like "Why doesn't it work" or "Why can't it work".

Anarchism is the natural path that history eventually takes.The fact that there are some conservative forces such as fascism, neo-liberalism and stalinism (not communism) doesn't mean that the people won't fight their way through opression

      That's the first verse- Ukrainian Cyrillic is different than Russian Cyrillic, plus the accent is different, so excuse any mistakes, please. If you want to start learning Ukrainian, the alphabet is fairly easy to learn, despite its look. What's really time-consuming is reading well :) Good luck!

      @@zorahunter3796 thank you very much! I myself am from another slavic country (Croatia) and I really like Ukraine and even understand some of the language. It is beyond me though, why Makhno doesn't get any recognition in Ukraine, I mean yes, he was an anarchist, but he was also a Ukrainian nationalist who fought for a free Ukraine, even if that meant an anarchist one. Besides that, the Black Army was really effective

      @@ivanrenic4243 Agreed! Plus, the anti-semitism allegations were proven false, and there was an event where the Black Army took Red Army supplies from a train and distributed it to peasants living in the area- What's not to love about Makhno? While meanwhile, in America, we look up to slave owners. It's a shame.
      I started to learn Russian a year or 2 ago, but I haven't really gotten anywhere- and I probably shouldn't have assumed you to be an American (the greatest insult XD).

      Do you have a source to back up this claim?
      As far as I've read of The Road to Freedom, the newspaper mouthpiece for the Makhnovists, Makhno himself understood the pact with the USSR to be temporary and that Makhnovia was irreconcilable with the USSR.
      But maybe you've read something different?
      If not, you casting Makhno as a naive fool speaks more about your own naivete than it does his. Maybe put the internet down and read a book instead?

    • @volopa5
      @volopa5 23 дня назад +1

      It's deeper than that. The song is about the tragedy of Makhno's life in general, both as a revolutionary and a human being. To appreciate the lyrics and the implied allusions, you need to understand the history and the political background of that period.
