I’m not a newbie stamper but I still love to watch to learn some tricks and tips. The layering with the labels on there is a great idea. I ALWAYS forget the sizes.
Thanks Amy for your kind note and for your feedback. I really appreciate it. Oh, yes you should absolutely make a template. Or how about I send you mine. I made a few extras will mail it to you tomorrow. Feel better!! Hugs, Brandy
Hello Brandy, I am glade I found this is great TFS because I did a card class for Women’s Ministry Feb. 20th. It was fun we made two cards.😊 Aloha and Mahalo since I am from Hawaii.
Thank you for this video. I have never cut card stock because I’ve always bought it. I’m new to card making…about 6 months. I love it! I hope it’s as easy for me to do.
ditto on not a newbie I like to review tips etc when I haven't stamped for a while also handy when working with a newbie. Thanks for the refresher course
First time I've watched your video. Totally impressed. Would like to receive a catalog and order the trimmer. Never made a card before, but after watching how step-by-step you demonstrate, I just may give it a try. 😊
Thank you, you are teaching card making very easy for me now and I love the beautiful things you are teaching to make so many new cards I didn't know what to do with them, thank you so much. Best Wishes to you always too
I just stumbled upon your video. The tips you gave for cutting card stock is so helpful. I’ve always tried eyeballing it before which is impossible to get completely even. I look forward to watching more of your beginning videos and others that you have on RUclips. Thank you.
I'm soo new to card making and I've been practicing my card seem to come out under size 😩🤔 highly frustrating I have a scoring board and a guillotine but this no luck so I'm playing after Searching all day and evening I will finally learn what I'm doing wrong ❤
I am not a beginner but like others have said, it's always good to refresh! Like Amy, I too am going to make my labels for my layers. That will speed things a long because I too forget sizes!!
Thank you so much Brandy. Showing the measurements made a little clearer of how to layer ur cards. TYFS!!! Be blessed!!! Looking forward to other learning tutorials.
Love this Brandy! Sometimes, we just gotta go back to the basics- we get caught up in all these fancy folds- that I too, get lost on my mat measurements needed for my cards!♡
This was just the video I was looking for when I started stamping! I just needed the basics! Unfortunately for me I was watching women in the UK and Im in the US and it took quite awhile to figure out why my measurements were off! 😁 Im excited about this series!
Instead of scoring and ending up eith edges a tiny bit off.. With the arm closed and the cutterbar raised you can bump your card against the bottom and the arm then fold top down the press for the crease and the edges come out perfectly matched
Brandy , love this series, but yes I get mess up with 3/8. 1/4 3/4 why can't we just do 1/2 , 3 inch, 4 inch I will be watching this one over & over Thanks
Thank you Brandy. Am a senior card maker from UK and find my memory is often failing me. As our measurements are in metric and our normal A4 card is different size to your 81/2 x 11 inch card, find measureme to soooo confusing. Also confused because I have quite a bit of USA cardstock so find myself making lots of mistakes. Will copy your measurements and make myself some templates to keep from making so many mistakes. Back to basics is not just for newbies, some of us oldies find your basic videos really helpful as well. Thanks and regards from UK 🇬🇧
I've been making Stampin Up cards for years, but I always appreciate your tips and tricks. You have helped me become more proficient and using my supplies without waste or frustration! Thanks Brandy!!
Hi Brandy. Thanks for the video. Quick question…what is the weight of the paper you’re using. I can only find 110 pound paper weight in colors white, cream brown & gray. What weight should you use for card bases? Thanks so much.
Thank you for this great video! Sometimes when I fold my card base, it won't be even on the side. I use the SU trimmer and scoring blade. What am I doing wrong?
Hi there. I just subscribed to your channel. I'm not a newbie card maker, but your explanation on how to cut card bases by dividing in half made so much sense. Duh, I don't know why I struggled with this before. And I made my own template for the layering so I can quickly see how to cut my layers, including using a 1/2 or more border if I want. Thanks for the tips. I'm sure I'll learn more as you work through this series.
You can stamp on the inside corner or add a strip of cardstock to the side or bottom. Check out some of my other videos and you'll get some ideas. PLUS, check back frequently for new card ideas where I often do show the inside of the cards.
Hi Brandy, I watched your video on cutting and layering card stock. You stated, we could go to the bottom of the video for pdf for the layering measurements...not there, I even went to your blog. I would appreciate any help you could give me. I see I'm not the only one that can't find it. ❤
I’m not a newbie but this is great info. I remember when I was learning was the die cut machine… learning how to use at the different layers, I can’t tell you how many time I would ask and I just couldn’t remember. I think showing the steps of learning card making is a brilliant idea:) tfs:)
Hey, Brandy! Little late, but quite meant: Happy New Year! I'm jealous of you guys, A4 just doesn't make sense. It makes cutting layers so difficult, unless you start by cutting off a strip - what a waste! *I've used the strips for all kinds of things, but I make many cards, so usually have too many strips ...
I was checking out this video and noticed you don’t have any trouble easily lifting the blade section of your SU cutter. I bought one several month’s ago and found there is something that holds the blade down. I have to lift up close to the left side which is very annoying and takes more time.. so I don’t use it unless I need to score something
Glad i found you. Subscribing, too. Why do my cardstock when I cut them, they don’t come out smooth? It’s fuzzy. I am using Fiskar paper cutter. My white cardstock is 110 lb/300 gsm. Is it my paper cutter or my cardstock being thick? Your paper cutter has a feature to get a nice fold without creating a crease on the card? Pls advise. I am tuning in. Thanks
Thank you so much for this video! I’m new to making cards and have gotten so frustrated with making the base. My other problem is the paper cutter and knowing how to use it. No one has a video on how to use it. When I look at it, it has two markings for one inch. One on either side of the blade. Why is that?
I’m not a newbie stamper but I still love to watch to learn some tricks and tips. The layering with the labels on there is a great idea. I ALWAYS forget the sizes.
Thanks Amy for your kind note and for your feedback. I really appreciate it. Oh, yes you should absolutely make a template. Or how about I send you mine. I made a few extras will mail it to you tomorrow. Feel better!! Hugs, Brandy
I agree. I have been doing this a while and always struggle looking forward to advanced layering techniques.
TIP: reduce one step by SCORING first (if cutting first, it requires scoring two times). This will be a great intro series for new crafters!
Great Tip and will for sure share!! Thanks Mary
Great idea.
Oh my gosh. I've been making cards for almost 20 years and never thought to do that!!! Thank you!
Thank you for doing this series! Where can I get card stock? A place like Michael’s?
This will be great Brandy, I have a hard time measuring and cutting my paper the right way! Either to small or to Big!!
I love how you post for beginner card makers how to use the tools.
Welcome! If you have any questions let me know but follow along with the video and pause where you need to. I'm sure you'll become a pro in no time!
Great info for us non beginners who cant cut properly! Thanks
ditto on not a newbie I like to review tips etc when I haven't stamped for a while also handy when working with a newbie. Thanks for the refresher course

😊
The brown off-set (3rd version) was my favorite. Interesting technique
I have been stamping and making cards for many years but I am still learning new things from this series
Thank-you.
Thank you, you are teaching card making very easy for me now and I love the beautiful things you are teaching to make so many new cards I didn't know what to do with them, thank you so much. Best Wishes to you always too
I always resist making cards because trying to figure out the sizes for mating is frustrating for me, being new at this. Thank you for this.
I just stumbled upon your video. The tips you gave for cutting card stock is so helpful. I’ve always tried eyeballing it before which is impossible to get completely even. I look forward to watching more of your beginning videos and others that you have on RUclips. Thank you.
I have been making cards for a while but I like watching you do anything
I have been following you for about 6 years now, so not a newbie, but I love going over things... thank you for this series, this is going to be fun.
I finally learned how to cut cardstock for card bases. Thanks Brandy.
You are so welcome! So glad it was helpful!!!
I'm soo new to card making and I've been practicing my card seem to come out under size 😩🤔 highly frustrating I have a scoring board and a guillotine but this no luck so I'm playing after Searching all day and evening I will finally learn what I'm doing wrong ❤

Thank you so much!
This is very informative, I'm getting ready to start card making. I've started but cut paper in my own design. Thank you for this video
Thank you so much Brandy. Showing the measurements made a little clearer of how to layer ur cards. TYFS!!! Be blessed!!! Looking forward to other learning tutorials.
Thanks Brenda for the kind note and for stopping by. That was my hope. I'm glad it was helpful!! Hugs, Brandy
Showing the measurements and scoring helps a lot.
Thanks for sharing this with us.
Great video. Could you explain the different Cardstock weights. And what weight you prefer. And soild core and not solid core. For card bases.
I am new at cardmaking. Thank you so much for this series !
This is so exciting. I have been stamping for quite awhile and been learning by trial and error.
Yay!! I'm so glad you found this helpful. This makes me excited to share more!!
Love this Brandy! Sometimes, we just gotta go back to the basics- we get caught up in all these fancy folds- that I too, get lost on my mat measurements needed for my cards!♡
Very clear presentation
Brandy , thanks a bunch, I get guffed up on quarters, thanks for the Layers too, like these tips , your never to old to relearn

Great video. Being a newbie, I struggle in this area. Thank you.

Outstanding detailed instructions!!
@Brandy, what about 12’/12’? Thankful for the pdf!

Thank you Brandy. I still have your red and white printed guide on the layering and still use it after3 three years
Thanks. Love the idea of cutting templates with the measurements with all the layers. Thank you!!

It was very helpful to me, since I'm used to metric system. Thanks for this tutorial!
Hi Brandy. Thanks for the video. Quick question…what is the weight of the paper you’re using. I can only find 110 pound paper weight in colors white, cream brown & gray. What weight should you use for card bases? Thanks so much.
Even though I have been making cards since 1998 this was very helpful for me!!! Thanks!
Great tips. I made sample cuts too! It's great to see others using the same skills, it means I'm on the right visual track!
thank you! You helped alot and explained it very simply.
Thank you for starting this series. I would've loved to see a video like this when I first started making cards. All the terms were so confusing.
Thank you so much, first time using the stamping cutter. Looking forward to seeing your next class.
Thank you for this great video! Sometimes when I fold my card base, it won't be even on the side. I use the SU trimmer and scoring blade. What am I doing wrong?

New to all of this! How wonderful ! Thank you
Hi Brandy! Excited to see all your videos coming are way👀😉🦋
What would the measurements be for a 5 X 7? Do you ever make cards t his size.
After decorating the front, what do you do with the inside. Great video 🥰
You can stamp on the inside corner or add a strip of cardstock to the side or bottom. Check out some of my other videos and you'll get some ideas. PLUS, check back frequently for new card ideas where I often do show the inside of the cards.
Thanks
Great for me been a beginner thankyou for the tutorial ❤
So helpful! I can create like boss, just struggle with the measurements. I want to prepare more for my stash, so it’s more convenient!
I like RUclips RUclips tube video's and your 10 cards in 20 min and the beginners serie
Thank you very much for the card size templates!!
Hi Brandy, I am having difficulty finding the PDF of the measurements as I can't see it below. xxx
I had the same issue
So helpful. Makes the math so much easier. And thanks for sending the catalogs. Love your videos.

Brandy, will you guys ever get the little trimmer back. I sure would love one. thank you.
Same 🥰
HI LB, Thanks for reaching out. As of right now, there is no sign of the mini trimmer coming back. I love it for those small pieces!!
Thanks for sharing I really appreciate it

Hi Brandy just caught your video, glad to be here
Great refresher!

Thank u Brandy. U explained that very well. I am new 2 your channel. Have a great day.

This was a very helpful video
What brand is that card paper cutter your using?
Hi Brandy, from Indiana
