I hate how all lumia phones looks like it has a bulit in case on it. The front looks good but the sides & the back is ugly in (my opinion)

    • @PaceyPimp
      @PaceyPimp 10 лет назад +1

sides only ugly because its thick but i still prefer smaller bezels . Yea would be cool if they use Kevlar or Aluminum in the back but being plastic back the battery should have atleast been removable

    • @Nesrasgado
      @Nesrasgado 10 лет назад

TechPimp The sides aren't plastic. that's metal.

Windows Phones are great. iphone and Android came out almost 10 years ago so naturally people adopted them first. Windows Phone been out 4 years and so no surprise that the App market is a little behind. In my opinion Windows Phone OS is the superior mobile platform. People just aren't willing to switch over yet because yes of the lacking app market but that will change with time.
I personally I have tried both iOS and android neither of which I liked at all, simply clunky and slow. Windows Phone OS is smooth and perfect.

***** There is another mobile OS, thats lacking apps, but provides best in class user expirience - BB10, you should check it out (I am WP and BB10 user btw)

I'd take the Nokia, the reason being that I already have the HTC One (M7) for Android, and I'd like to change it up.
Also I have little to not use for the speakers on my HTC One as I dont often use them, and I enjoy taking nice pictures. So regardless of "changing it up", I'd still refer the Nokia Lumia

Deal breaker for One M8 is camera and no shutter key
while deal breaker for Lumia 930 / Icon is no sd card storage

  • @niFeforever

The Icon's(930's) screen can reproduce totally pitch black. I've tested it by turning on full brightness at night and setting up an image with a white square while most of the picture was black. Then I covered the white part with a book and, to my surprise, the black portion was actually pitch black! Unlike the S3's which I previously owned.

Lumia have more real screen estate, Wireless charging, OIS, much more MegaPixels, Better screen, better support, better apps. M8 just have better speakers and expandable storage, and of course, very good selfie camera.

nice video though. personally i prefer Lumia for windows to the M8. it is really a tough call... I think M8 is better on android to windows. The only reason for a windows phone is really lumia camera and its nokia map... :)

Waited a while to see a good full review. Good job. Though from what I've heard the HTC has a much longer battery life due to the newer professor. And I do like the ir blaster plus speakers. I'm constantly putting calls on speaker.
But l feel lumia is the definition of wp8. I feel I rather get a HTC m8 for android instead.
Well at least now ms/Nokia will have to start coming up with more features finally to keep up.
Regardless thanks for posting this comparison. Still no idea which I want. All be it a $200 difference

  • @misterfpico

I have used both of these and what it boiles down to is weather or not you watch or listen to much media. You gotta love the Boomsound speakers! Im personally tired of cupping my phones to redirect the audio somewhere forward. One more item to keep in mind is Blinkfeed, this is one of my favorite features/app on the HTC line. Im a huge Nokia fan but give it up for the HTC One! Lets hope someone can figure out how to duel boot this bad boy like the H7.

Hey ***** I just watched the live show. Right now I have an iPhone 5S and an HTC One M7. I always go back and forth between the two, never really lasting a month with one as a daily driver. I've always been curious about getting a windows phone specially because of the cameras on the Nokia line. Is the app gap really that bad? I imagine all the big apps are present on WP except for Google apps since they're shady like that. I'd appreciate your advice.

The Icon just got the latest Denim update and 4k camera tweaks. This video is a few months old so look at some of the updated reviews after the latest update finally hit the Icon. You can get the Icon from Amazon, Verizon has not had the Icon on their Online Store since last Fall. They only offer the M8 and the Samsung Ativ S models now. Who knows if the Samsung model will ever get any updates since Samsung cares more about their Android phones.

Already have the M8 Android and the ICON - wouldn't consider flipping to the M8 Windows unless FLAC playback and screen-on for at least 60 min becomes a reality for the Windows M8. Also really liking the AMOLED of the Lumina over the M8's Windows look and feel. I also felt the ICON was more responsive with 8.1. developer installed while comparing the two in a store setting.

Lumia Icon is a really good phone and so is the M8 but the 4MP sensor doesn't cut it enough for me, the 20MP sensor is clearly the better choice. Im due for an upgrade in a couple weeks and trying to narrow down my decision. Ive never owned a lumia but i think it would be a fluid and fun experience.

The Lumia 930 (Icon) DOES SUPPORT the 'double tap to wake' feature as I have the Lumia 930 and have this feature... The screen is also amazing.. much better than on the Htc One M8.. And peformance wise... the lumia has the edge. The corners of the phone is not sharp.. I know this and IN MY OPINION.. I prefer the design as mine has a lovely matte orange backing. :)

This is awesome comparison Michael. Personally I'm HTC fan but in this two phone I prefer the lumia icon aka lumia 930. Poor Canada. I feel so sad especially since we live (as countries) so close together. But I do remember reading from a few people that the AT&T and T-mobile lines work in Canada because those two companies are the standard that most of the world uses. So if you buy that or the Lumia 1520 unlocked, it should work.

I have seen other videos where the Icon did have the double tap to wake feature. But it was a video from Germany, maybe they have that in the next update, who knows. I would not mind a button as long as it did not do like my HTC 8x. After the last GDR3 update my 8x when tapping PWR to wake it up, sometimes it says GOODBYE and turns itself off. Other times the screen comes on and when Im looking at my latest TEXT message within 2 seconds it will say GOODBYE and turn off.

I think it already does. The next update is Denim and ATT has been putting out updates faster then Verizon. I had to get Cyan on my HTC 8x by signing up with the Microsoft App Studio for free. Works just fine. Tired of waiting for Verizon they spend far to much time making commercials and pretending they make products everyone wants that are not related to cell phones.

MS has vowed to provide updates for Lumias through Windows 10, while HTC has kinda sucked considering updates. The HTC 8X isn't even on 8.1, while the Lumia 520/521 has the latest updates. I admire HTC's ambition, but if you want support in the future, I'd suggest the Lumia.

My Lumia 930 supports double tap to wake, so I suppose the Icon does too. It are the same phones anyway.

the icon is actually the 929, so I guess that's the only hardware difference. I know it does require hardware to support the double tap.

Yeah I think he mispoke. I see other videos showing the Icon and it double taps to wake just fine. As for what the Cyan update is I have no idea, is that what they are calling the 8.1.1 version? Just hope it gets released soon, my 8x is still waiting for the 8.1 update, one thing that sucks about being a Verizon customer.

Windows does have double tap to wake. They actually came out with it first. My Lumia 928 has it. It's had it for awhile now before many Android phones. Just look in the settings it is hidden. Pocketnow

One advantage that the M8 has over the icon is that it while be coming to other carriers whereas the Icon looks to be staying a Verizon exclusive

of course for me ur will be Lumia. I already own one and have never looked at anything else and wanna upgrade to Lumia 930. 1020 is also not bad but it beats every cellphone camera in the market. Plus I like the Nokia camera app that gives a greater control on the photos I shoot.

If it were the original One M7 design with M8 specs I would be more equally divided, but I really don't fancy the current design

I'm thinking to quit the world of Android soon and was thinking about the M8 coz I adore HTC.
Also, I was waiting for the release of iPhone6, but I'm a heavy user and its screen won't last a month with me!
BTW, I am a big fan of LOST!
