Love Ferrari their consistency level is insane. They never disappoint me at disappointing me. They even found a new strategy to do so
I seen you comment this exact thing on another video
Tbh I love Ferrari racing teams but the actual company is pretty awful, so seeing them loose sucks and is entertaining at the same time

Can someone give Gasly some recognition: started form the pitlane & finished on the points. Epic drive!
Yeah he was brilliant today. We'll definitely talk about him on the podcast tomorrow :)
I hope he does end up at Alpine next year, a more competitive car to show his abilities
@@rh-tz1ez I really want Pierre to end up at Alpine, but then Danny would 99% not be in F1 and I would hate that.
@@ThinkAboutVic There's always Haas but only if Mick loses his seat... and I would hate that one myself.
Let’s not get carried away, this the at best his best result all season he just hasn’t been there
I loved Ocon's double overtake. Almost a recreation of Hakkinen and Shumacher in 2000, 22 years ago
If you ask me it was even better. Because the middle car (Vettel) wasn't a backmarker
Actually Leclerc's penalty is a bit of Ferrari's fault. They said they used wrong pit limiter sensor that caused them to go 1km/h over the limit. You switch the sensors between each type of tyres
Leclerc posted on Facebook saying it was not just the wrong sensor but the sensor also failed meaning he had no indication what speed he was going in the pit lane, therefore unfortunately causing his first ever time penalty in F1, seriously I don't know how much more pain I can take from ferrari it's really hard to be a Tfosi this year.
Omg, I didnt know that 🤦♀️
I feel so bad for the drivers and you tifosi
@@aidancrawford2084 even without that problem, pitting with two laps left and putting yourself behind Alonso is bonkers. good ol' Ferrari strategy I guess.
@@aidancrawford2084 First ever time penalty?
@@damp2269 I don't know what they were trying to do? If you want to go for the fastest lap you need to prepare your tyres and charge the battery. How was he supposed to do that battling Alonso? Also you don't risk late pitstop like that without a gap to another car, something could go wrong like long pit stop or even loose wheel causing DNF. You are putting driver in a lot of pressure too
Imagine pitting for fastest lap, and not only not getting it, but losing a position because of it 🤡
Masterclass
Did Ferrari make him get 5 sec for speeding???????
Even the fact that they were after that extra point felt a bit desperate from Ferrari tbh.
@@rodolfoptx i mean it was free drs and slipstream that even better. And it was obvious that without a mistake leclerc will easily catch back in the last sector what he did
I mean the penalty is leclercs fault in all truth..
Fun fact - this is only the second time since Bottas' debut in 2013 that Bottas and Hamilton DNF'd in the same race. First one was Austria 2018.
Wow only one time how realible mercedes
When Crofty said "Charles sped in the pitlane, where was that speed during the race" 💀
The fact that Charles exceeded pit limit by 1.0 km/h is something :D
km/h*
Ferrari strategy is less km/h than smh
It was a damaged pit limiter sensor
How did he do that?! He literally presses a button which limits the speed to 50 km/h!
@@tropickman , he probably pressed too late when entering the pits, maybe because he knew it would be tight with Alonso

Thankfully I'm already well past numb to Ferrari mistakes. By the time they started full on strategy soliloquy over team radio, I was already congratulating Max in my head. I'm actually genuinely surprised we managed to even get a 3rd place finish.
Yup, I was genuinely surprised that Georgie Rus didn't catch up and blow past at the end.
Also Leclerc his fastest lap is over 6 tenth of a second slower than max his fastest lap, while max being on medium tyres while leclerc being on softs, having 12-14 more laps worth of fuel on board and also leclerc had slipstream and drs...
And people think this was a great drive by Max... the car was insane. Dude just had to stay out of trouble and keep in on the road.
@@brandonstevens4513 Of course the car is insane but the lap times would still not be as good without a driver like Max. Moreover, many drivers wouldn't be able to handle that car. This race was a clear case of best driver in the best car, and it shows.

I think Ocon can be a Team leader for Alpine, but it was very interesting seeing Ocon and Alonso compete this season, because they were bith driving on a similar Level. But in the future they might even more on different teams
Ocon is a great and very underrated driver, don't think he's WDC material, but he's definitely team leader of a midfield team material.
@@billhoult3262 Ocon and Megnussen are the two most underrated drivers imo. Magnussen even more so I think. Driving a shit car for years can do that. But we didn't hear much the times Magnussen has done double overtakes. Really happy Ocon is getting some credit though!
@@Vlad-sj5yw yep, was really looking forward to a strong haas giving magnussen the opportunity to show his talent this year, shame he only got one race really.

I thought that was only speculation/rumour at this point.
speeding in the pitlane was due to a burnt sensor for the tear off inc(h)ident

I’m REALLY hoping that Ricciardo can get Alonso’s seat. I think having a rejuvenated Ric and Ocon on one team would be a solid 1,2 KO punch to McLaren.
Ricciardo has lost his confidence. Will Alpine want him?
@@JohnFromAccounting they've got his 2020 as a reference, I don't think the alpine has changed much in terms of design philosophy, he should go okay to start then claw back some form.
Although if it were to happen, they would probably keep an exit clause in the back pocket should he not come back to form.
It's really the only thing that makes sense for him. I don't see him being interested in a "project" i.e. Williams or HAAS. It's really half a step up given the teams relative performance. It actually still doesn't make sense to me that Piastri would rather go to McLaren than Alpine for that reason. Of course there are rumors that the atmosphere in the team is so bad no one wants to drive for them, but I've yet to see or hear much to support this.
Where ever he goes , there is going to be a reckoning. Either he and McLaren were just a bad fit, and he returns to form in a new team. Or he confirms that he truly has lost it.
@@ians5245 Agree with everything you said, just wanted to add that Piastri to Alpine means midfield and occasional podiums is pretty much his ceiling. But at Mclaren, if he can beat or equal Norris before Hamilton retires then he's first choice for the Merc seat. I think it's his best route to a WDC, but it is a gamble to assume Mclaren can turn this year's car around.
@@JohnFromAccounting he has but then McLaren strategy cost him any chance of points this weekend. It is almost as if they want to kick while he’s down with the decision to leave him out on the hard tyres for 4 laps longer than Norris and the rest of the field. Especially with a car that was clearly far too slow in a straight line to overtake.
What was Ferrari doing with that final pit stop 🤦♂️🤦♂️
They took a risk that only didn't work out because Leclerc speeded in the pitlane. Not Ferrari's fault.
This is one of those times when it's Leclerc who makes the mistake, not Ferrari. It's hilarious though.
Ferrari calculated the gap wrong with alonso so leclerc had to battle p5 back and couldnt try to go for fastest lap which was ferraris fault but leclerc made a mistake speeding and thats why he got penalty
Or its possible that they didnt calculate it wrong but thought that leclerc would get it back on out lap
@@Panfilo2 He didn't need to pit, he didn't want to pit either, definitely a Ferrari blunder even with the 5 sec.
Never been a Ferrari fan but even I'm feeling bad for them this year. I mean, just how wrong can a team get it with a championship winning car??? 🤯
Hold your horses sir, its not a championship winning car until you actually win a championship.

Matt in denial of Leclerc finishing 6th during the run down. Don't worry mate he will finish on the podium at least once in the next 8 races... right Ferrari? right?
Ocon may well be the most underrated driver of all time. Not because he’s the next Schumacher or anything, just because everyone seems to think he’s garbage despite the number of great drives he’s had.
He’s rated just fine. Nobody thinks he’s garbage, nobody just thinks he’s great, which he isn’t.

To be honest, even though im a ferrari fan, i really think that Verstappen could really become at least a 3 time world champion at this level of skill.
Given how young he still is, and the fact he seems to keep getting better, that number could be just about anything. 3 would be a disappointment.
Ocon should be driver of the day, as it is not often you see a driver overtake two cars at once but the same driver doing it twice. Way to go Ocon.
Max was a fantastic shot. Landing his tear off in Leclerc's brake cooling duct on lap 1
Imagine he's still at the team when Porsche enters. Nothing then is impossible. Best pure racer since schumacher

It’s sad to see how unlucky Leclerc is. Out of all the things, Max his tear off caused Charles brakes to smoke and Ferrari as always with their amazing strategy.. I really hope that we will see more battles between Max and Charles in the future.
Oh and what a race for Albono!
Max his tear off? How did you get that, did Max drop it on purpose with his autograph on it?
@@theporcupine9993 Not at all, has only had 2 mistakes this season, that's not inconsistent, Max has just been pretty much perfect, especially now that the RB car is clear. It's a dangerous combo.

@@joostprins3381 there is literally a replay where you see the tear off coming from Max on to the car of Charles.. en btw ik ben een Max fan hè.
@@theporcupine9993 he is unlucky and Ferrari strategy isn’t helping him either..
Good communication with the drivers about strategy is priority number 1. If you can also do that in secrecy that’s a bonus. I applaud Ferrari for at least trying.
For the love of God, tell Tommy to take it easy with the Onesie. Switch it up for the good of a competitive F1 season.
ocon avoidance of latifi on l1 was brilliant. none of the commentators mentioned it but it was a sweet move
Leclerc has to start making calls. Carlos clearly takes decisions with the team and with Leclerc the strategy just happens. Super talented driver but it seems he misses still some ingredients for the complete package.
they asked him to make the call on tyres and he couldnt , he couldn't pick hards or soft think about that. its at the beginning of this very video.
How many times did he retire from the lead this year? How many engines blew up? At this point it's Leclerc over compensating because Ferrari blew it early on in the season. Could he be closer in the championship? Sure, but at the end of the day, I think Leclerc is just as good as Max, he's just had to come from too far back too often.
Also, today was not about Max, but RB's insane car. If last year in Brazil was all about Merc's fancy engine, this was RB's fancy car. You don't dominate that way just on skill at these level of sports.
Exactly...Sainz dictates, Leclerc debates...
I still don’t understand why Hamilton said Alonso was in his blind spot. Did he think Alonso was going to disappear or just give him the position without a fight? Hamilton’s racecraft is terrible and we were reminded of it today. He was clearly flattered by the most dominant car in F1 history from 2014-2021.
Why not, he just moves to the side for Max without a fight
I don't think Ferrari really did anything wrong, as far as the team is concerned. Glad to see they're actually asking Leclerc for his opinions now, but his engineer sounded like a kicked dog.
I don't think it's a good idea to ask the driver which tires they should do next. It is the strategists job to make that decision... if anything, I feel like they are scared to mess something up again so if they ask Leclerc and it ends up a bad decision, then the fault is not theirs because they did not make that decision.
@@DimeF1 It is and isn't. You can only get so much information looking at data and arrays, so driver feedback is important too. Putting all the decisions into the driver's hands is wrong as well, but that's not what they were doing.
Of that was another team or another driver in the same team nobody would blame Ferrari on a driver over speeding in the pitlane. But Ferrari is already a meme and a lot of fans cannot see Leclerc doing anything wrong
@@Garvm The stop itself was a stupid idea and way too late. They knew the sensor was off right from the tear-off/break-duct issue at the start. In the prior stop, he was probably keeping it slower than necessary to prevent from violating the speed limit But at the end, they gave him barely a lap and hardly enough time to take a pit stop(gap to Alonso). In that situation, it is a miracle that Charles was only 1km/hr too fast. He simply didn't have enough time to be careful/slow enough not to cross the pit lane speed limit manually.
It's definitely a bad idea to have such open convo on strategy over the radio. there's a reason why MacLaren have Plan G. Ferrari didn't consider enough scenarios pre-race and didn't plan ahead.
I love the idea of the Haas social media guys in their annual review with their manager just showing a screenshot of the WTF1 league table... "At least we are top of one championship"
I used to skip Race Rundown before you threatened to remove it. Now I always watch it. Watching Matt slowly lose his mind is my favorite part of these videos now.
I think Ocon is absolutely a team leader compare him to some of the other young drivers and he’s really doing quite well. I think with some assurance that he doesn’t have to worry about a drive every year he will do great.
He isn’t really one of the young drivers anymore. He’s youthful but does have 5 full seasons under his belt if I’m correct
Crazy season for almost every driver except Max. He’s just taking advantage of everyone’s blunder. Also, hearing “Plan B” in Sainz’s radio gave me war flashbacks. That was either Plan Barrier or Plan Bomb. Glad it all worked out in the end, but most of the drivers were definitely off today after the break. Sainz should’ve bagged that win
Honestly Sainz was lucky to get that podium spot. Russell messed up while chasing him down at the end, but Mercedes could have put him on Softs; with 14 laps left, less fuel weight in the car and a decided tire advantage, George could have snatched that 3rd podium place. IDK if they had a new set of softs left though.
@@lazarushernandez5827 there is something wrong with the Mercs this week as well as seen from qualifying. So slow on the straights. Even Haas, was not expecting K Mag to place so low.
There’s no way Ferrari could of took fastest lap. Max’s pace was overwhelming.
Max is going to make a last to first challenge in one race (and i wouldn't be surprised if he wins in that race)
Did this also remind you a little bit like Brazil 2021, in which Lewis was in another league, just like Max today?
I gave up on F1 live after 25 years of watching religiously. I now watch races via RUclips highlights and the after race reaction is this. 😎
I always thought that an f1 driver was unshakeable in their will to win, being able to come back from crushing defeats, like Hakkinen coming back from his major blunder in Italy in 1999...
But i honestly think that, at least for this season, Leclerc is just defeated, and unable to come back from it mentally... The amount of distrust in the team for their bad calls, his own unforced mistakes, and the general unreliability and lack of pace in the car compared to Red Bull might have just pushed him to a point where he simply can't keep it together and give 100%, only ever being able to go at 96%...
9:24 Leclerc has already stated him speeding in the pit lane was due to a faulty sensor that was burnt earlier in the race where his brakes overheated
As soon as Alonso came around turn one on the second to last lap I just rolled my eyes and said FFS
Double overtake is a supercell meme! Clash ahead! 😂
I think we must start accepting that not all Leclerc problems are Ferrari's fault. He's been making costly mistakes all by himself, too.
Everyone has been accepting that for some time now. Including Leclerc himself.
This time not so much his fault.
The F1 TV Tech Talk was the best part of Sunday's Belgian GP
Even at the beginning you can see how much pain Matt is in
"plan disaster" killed me lolololool

I think that Ocon havn't had the chance to show that he can be a teamleader. He have always been the younger less experianced driver with teammates like Perez, Ricciardo and Alonso

I am surprised that no one, not even on the telecast, talked about all the spray that came off of Lewis' car after his accident. I saw it on a couple of onboard cameras, including Max's, which I believe is what caused him to remove one of his tear-offs, which I believe is what got stuck in Charles' break duct and forced him to pit early and completely change the scope of his race.
I’m sorry for your pain Matt but let me say you guys are awesome. Thx for the content.
I was shocked and excited how quick Max got to the front. Especially after people saying Redbull is gonna suffer after the flex floor rule.
Great and humorous summary, and thank you for that!. Latifi is the reason Lewis isn't 8 time champion. He is a spoiler for everyone's races. If he produced something for Williams I sure wish I knew what it was.
Alonso is a funny guy as well. Most WDCs have a great wit, and while he was never my favorite, I admire him saying what he's thinking. Lewis and the long walk home, someone didn't pay attention on that one.

Adding pain to pain: the tear off that forced Leclerc to put under safety car also damaged a sensor which caused him to speed in the pit lane.
What sensor do you need not to speed in the pitlane?😂
@@alexlawender2543 The cars have a limiter which reduces the speed of the car to comply with the pitlane speed limit. The drivers literally press a button on the steering wheel; the drivers still have to slow down before the pitlane entry line.

Conor Moore as Max Verstappen: "Look, here's the deal. I'm the best there is, plain and simple. I wake up in the morning? I piss excellence. Nobody, nobody can hang with my stuff and as I always say, if you're not first, you're lost!" 😄
Ocon has to lead Alpine next year, otherwise they risk pissing off three drivers in the matter of weeks...they may as well jack it in!
I think that Ocon has the potential to be a team leader? Over the last few races he has proven that he can outpace his teammate and defend very aggressively.
I feel though that he struggles with consistency. He’s either up there like today, or having an anonymous race and not lighting it up.
My favourite moment was Martin’s realisation that Leclerc was going to be behind Alonso; “he should be leaving the pits ahead of Alonso, he should… he shiiiiii”
A lot of my own enjoyment of a race is discussing how the strategies might end up. All of the 'downtime' is spent theorizing and watching the splits for anything that might shake up over pitstops and such. This was a pretty good race, by my standards, but I can also see why someone might call it boring.
It also helps that I don't really care who wins. I have my favourites of course (the midfield, generally speaking), but I'm not so attached to one or the other. If the leader is a mile ahead (like today), I just focus on the other stuff. Can Albon hold 10th, how are Alonso and Ocon going to finish, can Lando hold on to his position after reporting poor traction and so on. I live for the midfield battles.
I think that's the standard for "older" fans of the sport. That's just how you watch a race. The newer ones might have to adabt to it. But that's how it's always been.
Your channel is the best 😂 🙌
The C in Ferrari stands for consistency.
Lewis should of gone to specsavers 👍👍
Ocon is definitely a TEAM CAPTAIN!!
I always remember in the past when RB or Merc split the strategies it was to cover off a possible move or to setup an over or undercut. When Ferrari do it I get the feeling that they have no idea what is best and their hoping that atleast one driver will be on the right tire.
Why is every british person so keen on ignoring Hamilton's heinous driving? Perez slightly squeezes a ferrari for a second with no consequence and Jolyon Palmer went on a two minute long rant about how as a driver you just never squeeze another driver, meanwhile Hamilton tries to kill Alonso and everyone is just like 'oh that was unfortunate'.
What is it with people and ”tried to kill him” everytime Hamilton makes a mistake 🙄 grow up
Damm Max looks to be unstoppable🔥🔥🔥
Skill-wise, Ocon is a team leader. In terms of discipline with his teammates on-track, I don’t think so
I agree, Ocon has definitely on more than one occasion showed that he doesn’t always play well with his teammates on track. Sergio had problems with Ocon before he moved to Red Bull and Alonso has had similar problems with Ocon whenever he’s tried to get past him on track. Ocon is capable of becoming a leader but with some more time and Alpine shouldn’t sugarcoat the facts.
I guess for next races, Red Bull should allow Max only to use Q3 to check the car and save the engine components and tires. At least we will have 12-ish laps to see some overtakes.
goddamn that Ferrari strategic masterclass in the closing laps truly got me- and I’m not even a Ferrari fan
