You can plausibly argue SCOTSU was biased in that decision, I accept that, but when the dust settled and sources like the Miami newspaper (hardly enthralled with Trump) and political scientists went back and looked at the data, esp the absentee votes, bush unfortunately won. Gore did NOT embrace a fair recount, he like Jim baker, wanted to recount votes only expected to hep THEIR candidate -in gores case , in large , heavily democratic counties..he did NOT want a recount of absentee and military votes , as was bakers counter etc. BOTH campaigns were disengenuous and uncertain f what the real vote was; but it’s very telling gore did not agree to recount of entire state (whcih woudl have been hugely fair and hugely popular) now that would have posed logistical challenges at state and even federal level, but he didn’t even put it on the table. The election, as per usual, lies in the hands of a couple voters in a handful of states (gotta love that electorate college). I don’t even think we gotta convince the “undecided” voter in terms of choosing blue or red. The trump voter will vote trump, the biden voter will vote biden (or whomever is on the ticket). The issue lies with those who might just not vote, not even undecided in terms of party, who “won’t” vote Trump but “might” vote blue…the campaign has to center on getting those people to the polls, will they get off their butts for Biden? Or will this ageist fiasco make it so that said few potential voters (few in comparison) will further show up for another candidate. I honestly do not know the answer, but I think we need more precision in terms of who the actual target audience is for this whole media circus.

But that’s exactly the point. Hard blue voters will vote blue regardless of who is on the dem ticket. I know I will (and I’m not a Biden fan, I am far to his left). The issue is swing voters, and I’m not sure (pure honesty, I’m not sure what I think yet) if Biden is the right choice for those voters, in those States (electoral college, let’s not forget) or if this media prosecution will make it more digestible for THEM to vote perhaps for someone else. What also scares me is, as a candidate, Biden will be subject to extreme exposure and scrutiny, even if he wins, I’m not sure he’ll make it to January, let alone November, as president, such exposure could result in the 25th amendment being invoked…prior to the internet era I’d say 100% keep him on the ticket but now? Maybe it is better that he govern quietly from the oval, someone else get the exposure a campaign entails, and finish his term in a dignified manner (not saying that would be fair to this man, none of this is fair to him and his record as a public servant, but there’s an election on the line; and sure, we can argue that we vote for policy and party and not the one person, again, hard voters and established bases do not matter, it’s the undecided voter in those handful of states).

For me as a voter there was no debate Trump eliminated it, wasting all of our time. Trump's and Biden's answers to questions should be written and if not a real answer it is not read.

I am not sure that Lichtman's keys work here. There has never been a President that stepped down or resigned the presidency that resulted in a victory for the incumbent. Closest might be Gerald Ford in 1974, but he lost in 1976.

These 13 keys are overly reductive and do not cover the full range of considerations. However, if they lead the Democrats to believe Harris will defeat Trump, then by all means, keep relying on them!
The keys were developed with a seismologist in politics. It's been around since the 80's with a 100% accuracy rate.
The betting market for presidential election wins have a 96% accuracy rate.
Both lean toward Biden.
Both leaned toward Trump before he won as well.

Right now, anybody can beat Trump, he simply does not have the votes, regardless of what the polls are saying. He has added few voters, since he incited the riot on January 6th, indicted 4 times on 88 charges. Lost three NY lawsuits in a row to the tune of 83 and 354 million dollars and convicted on 34 felony charges. Haley even got thousands of votes in those last GOP primaries and she dropped out months ago. Finally, people are not going to switch over and vote for Donald, because frankly he is disliked and despised!

I don't get it. There is no reason to resign or drop out if the party will rally behind and nominate Harris anyways. Just pacify voters concerns about Biden that Harris WILL be president if he can't make it through his term. And the odds of him making it through a second term are slim. Get Harris out there campaigning as if she's running for President, because for all practical purposes she is!
