- Tillotson 212 gets some timing advance/7 degree flywheel key
Advanced the timing on the 212 Tillotson engine with a 7-degree flywheel keyway.
This is the same keyway I usually use on the predator 212 as well.

I swear you’re the only guy who talks about timing on RUclips!!
Well done video. I appreciate the knowledge, without wasting time.
Thank you
You got them dad jokes oh, I do enjoy the comparison videos though
I have to wait till the next video;
Always wonder about advanced minibike engine tricks and this is one. Bookmarked. Thanks! Does this help with smoothing Idle?
Thanks ! It seems like it might idle a little faster
What do you recommend for a timing key...predator 212 with the Amazon aluminum flywheel? Nothing internally done other than governor delete.
Great stuff thanks for sharing awesome
Always interesting content here! I’d be curious to see the difference that made.
👍
Thanks , I have some advance the timing videos on the CT200U-ex minibike .
It seemed to make the bike more throttle responsive
busted out the earthQuaker lmao Beast!!!
Yes! The earthquake is a beast !!
@@Black66 how much that thing run ya
@@SoLoCruizer I can remember, but I think it was over $200. It will take off bus lug nuts.
@@Black66 lol jesus h christ man ...put that thing away lol i bet it comes in a nice fancy case with all the lil attatchments cool man
Have you done a 0-30 with just a timing change?
Do you ever lap your flywheel to the crank?
Yes! If I add a new flywheel I do it every time
do u think a lawnmower shop could change my flywheel !on it looks a bit risky ....i dont know if i have that torque rench ect but my flywheel on my 80cc beast minibike is rusted to hell n back deefinitly cant use my booster pack with it having a chance of overheating the hypersonic overdrive sysetem
Exactly ! I bet they can help fix it before the next mission.
@@Black66 forget about it boss that drill cost more than the motor u can buyu a brand new mega moto roller frame for the price of that drill lol and the hydro brake setup lol Beast for reals
@@Black66 whats a cheaper drill that will do the job
@@SoLoCruizer There is a Bauer impact wrench at harbor freight for $50 that should do it
@@SoLoCruizerIt It is expensive. But it will pretty much remove anything
You should do a video on retarding the timing for more low end torque.
Check out the playlist. Have a few videos on timing ruclips.net/video/rF7xAz02INA/видео.html
Isn’t .30 thousands a bit fat for a stock flywheel. My understanding is that they are supposed
To be in the 17-22 thousand range for stock flywheel. Of course on billet 40-60 thousands is not out of the norm
I have a video coming out on this topic
Have you ever put a Billet flywheel on a electric start 212 Tillotson? I bought the “electric start billet flywheel and rod combo” from Studz, but I’m not too sure how to install it. Their page says something about “Clearance”, but I believe they left out a word or two, because the sentence seems incomplete. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Yes, I put a billet flywheel on my Tillotson 212 e . No problem. Are they talking about the coil gap ?
@@Black66 No Sir. This is what it says, “********This Is Not A Bolt On Kit, The Fly Wheel Ring Gear Requires A LOT For Clearance to The Block On The Tillotson 212. ******” A LOT of what is my question?!?!?
@@DJ_CAZZARELLI Oh , I know what it is talking about.
On mine i used a standard billet flywheel. I got rid of the ring gear for the starter. I dont use the starter anymore. So on the billet flywheel you have ,if your using the ring gear ,it sounds like you will have to clearance the gear to clear the block or visa versa. I would mock it up on there and see if it clears everything. I would put it on there without torqing it down and spin it over to make sure every thing clears.
@@Black66 I mocked it up as suggested. EVERYTHING is clear. No rubbing or resistance what so ever. Now I ran into another problem though. While trying to seat my bearings into my ARC rod, I snapped one of the 12 point 1/4” bolts. I was using a torque wrench and everything, little increments at a time. Now Im gonna have to try extracting the broken bolt, and then try to locate some more bolts.
@@DJ_CAZZARELLI The bolt might come out pretty easy. I have had that happen before. Make sure you oil up those bolts really well whan your torquing them. ARC racing or gopowersports has those rod bolts.
Did u make a follow up video to this mod?
Did it help?
I have quite a few videos in the playlists where I add timing. It helps most of the time. Here is one of the videos. ruclips.net/video/ZTC1ZAkuNdk/видео.html
Lapping the flywheel is a Must! !!
Why?
Shaved key vs offset key which is better??
You really dont need to use a key if you use a degree wheel.
I just watched someone else do a key and they didnt show it close up, made me paranoid that I did mine correctly for a minute.
Then I laughed as I imagine that it would have never fired up in the first place with the timing so retarded.
